This movie was my childhood favorite, I love the over the top dramatization of it, the music and costumes really makes this movie special. The cast is perfect as well, this is Kathrine Zeta Jones type of role and she nails it. I absolutely love her maybe because I've been told we look alot alike lol Great review! I love that you do older movies, honestly I like them better than most of the new ones. They focus more on a good story and the music is often much better as well. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Marine! I have a partnership with MovieSceneCanada so I review the new movies, but I love making these type of videos! Hope to see you in more comments sections ☺️
Okay now I like Banderas fine at the titular hero, but nobody and I mean nobody will ever top Guy Williams from Disney’s Zorro tv series from the 50’s. He not only had great charm to him, but an intelligence, comedic side, love and care for the oppressed as well and could be angry when it was called for. If you haven’t seen it I highly recommend checking it out.
This film is in my top 3 of all time. It has everything from a great, sympathetic, charismatic hero, to a beautiful love interest, to incredible action and to a flawless soundtrack. The direction, writing, acting... just 10/10 for everything.
I recently got to experience The Mask of Zorro at a local theater for a throwback showing and I love this movie so much and always wanted to see it on the big screen! And I couldn’t stop smiling and laughing and I’ve seen this movie hundreds of times. Experiencing it on a big screen and forgetting how great the cinematography is and how amazing the music is, action is top notch, the well developed characters, etc., made me think this is a PERFECT movie! I could not find a single flaw with this movie.
This is my favorite superhero movie of all time. Whenever people talk about great superhero movies, Spider-Man, Superman etc. I always point to this one. It's a great example of a throwback film with great swashbuckling, romance and drama. Antonio Banderas killed it in the role alongside Anthony Hopkins and the Swordplay and stunts are fantastic. This was the movie that also made me a big fan of Martin Campbell, between this, Casino Royale and Goldeneye.
Love this movie. So underappreciated. Given the huge popularity of the Pirates Of The Carribean franchise, it's surprising this film hasn't received more buzz.
Yeah it's too bad. I think people simply watch Pirates of the Caribbean and this movie is stuck in the shadows. I tell people all the time to check it out if they like the Pirates movies
I seriously love this movie tbh i think this is one of my favorite movies ever i rewatch this movie so many times amd never get tired of this movie, i watched The Mask of Zorro so many times as a kid and as an adult i love if even more , they really don't make movies this awesome and fun anymore.
How damn good is TMOZ??? I saw in cinemas in 1998 and was absolutely enthralled. It truly is the last of classic swashbuckling adventures. The action is awe-inspiring!!! Shame the sequel was such a dud. Hard to believe it was from the same director.
Haha alrighty! Staying clear! Also, have you ever considered joining Patreon? It's like a virtual movie club where we watch movies every Monday... however, I don't know how the timing would work for you in Aus
It may not have been exactly for kids but when I saw it as a kid it was quite enjoyable. It came out during the DVD era of movies. It was rated among the best movies of the time along with The Matrix, Saving Private Ryan, and a few others. Surround sound was a new thing still as kids were transitioning from watching nothing but Disney cartoon movies on VHS to watching Zorro. I don't know how it got rated so low on the reviews and ratings, shouldn't be less than a 7 rating.
Have you seen How to Steal a Million from 1966 starring Peter O Toole and Audrey Hepburn. I’m very interested in your opinion in it. And also yeah The Mask of Zorro is also a classic action in my opinion.
This is my 4th favorite movie overall, it's my #1 action movie. Now, I thought this movie was similar to Princess Bride which is my 6th favorite movie overall, I just love the action sword-fighting and the characters. I would also give Pirates of the Caribbean an A+. But, to me this movie is an almost perfect movie. Every movie is going to have some flaws.

Thank you for doing this. This is one of those movies that are way overlooked.
I agree!

This movie still holds up. A fun adventure with Antonio Banderas.
Yes it does!
I saw it recently and i realy liked it!
It was fun, Action Packed, Funny and Adventrious. It´s right up my ally!
Totally! Great movie!
So much fun! More people should enjoy this one.
I agree!
The only real issue I had with this movie is it very obviously borrowed plot elements from "The Count of Monte Cristo", but they did do it very well.
Haven't seen that one
A really great swashbuckler
YES!

Haha I haven’t seen the sequel because everyone tells me it’s garbage
@@BrandoCritic yeah don't bother. It will only sour your love for the original!!!

One my favorite of 90s as good as the original Disney series
Awesome!
