Sorry to be late to tell you that Finland is the world leader in metal with over 700 bands per 1M citizens. No other country comes even close, e.g. the U.S. has just about 70/1M.
i love so much the sound of the insomnium guitars, clean, ditry, lead everything is the sound that i love of this instrument.amazing love this band.kisses from a danish guy who living at beautiful greece :)

And yet another new band to add to my list of stuff to listen to. At this rate I will need to be buried with my headphones on. It's rare that I find a song or group that can be that harsh yet during parts I can close my eyes and it's almost like a cool autumn breeze on my face. Thank you for taking the time to create and share with us. Always looking forward to more.
Not going to lie: 2:18, When you said "It's storming outside right now, I can hear the thunder of...", exactly that moment the thunder rumbled here too. Some bands and songs are just bigger and beyond amazing! Thank you for doing so good reaction videos! All the best!
Hell yeah! Insomnium is a long time favorite of mine! As I tell everyone who I introduce to insomnium, they put the "melodic" in Melodic Death Metal. These guys absolutely kick ass.

Heart Like a Grave from Insomnium.. It really sounds amazing! But when it`s Insomnium you can pic almost any song and it`s a good one ;) Hello from Finland!
Oh finally we're getting to some amazing stuff, insomnium is one of those bands that just play music and it is glorious every single time. This album is my favorite by them, exceptional work. Oh i almost forgot, be sure to check out Words of Farewell - This Shadow my Likeness, just a reminder.
Thank you for this reaction! This is very personal song to me, so nice that you did this! Try some day their song "While We Sleep" (Iput link below), Or Something which might give little smile your heart. What an awsome jouney, you are on! There is so mutch to discover! For me, a 55 year old mother of 2 adult children, now on the journey of (re)-discovering all that music, it's great to see others on the same way. Yes, there is a kind of elitisisme and gatekeeping does exist. I think, no one should keep any "gates" closed. Everyone who is opem minded to metal, is one who may be one day an ambassador for metal. Thanks for beeing there! 🤘🖤❤️🖤🤘 🤘🤘🤘❤️
Nice reaction, i love how you got this feeling of sadness and light. It's a common vibe in their work, very melancholic feels with a glimpse of hope underneathe. Insomnium is one of those rare bands that never disappoints as far as you get it. Every single album has been at worst "Ok". This track is amazing but they have so much more. The latest album is absolutely gorgeous and the track Godforsaken has already become one of my favorites, worth a check !
Insomnium are an amazing band, glad to see you appreciate them. If you're interested in doing more of their music, "Godforsaken" from their latest album "Anno 1696" is an absolute standout.
You might want to react for "Godforsaken" th-cam.com/video/jHN5xONEjSA/w-d-xo.html from Insomniums latest album "Anno 1696" released couple of months ago. There they feature Johanna Kurkelas (wife of Tuomas Holopainen from Nightwish) angelic vocals with harsher death metal growls. Title of the album "Anno 1696" refers to The Great Famine of 1695-1697 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Famine_of_1695%E2%80%931697 which killed about the third of Finlands population.
Diving deeper into Finnish metal🤘 Here's another suggestion up the same alley as this one : Wolfheart with The Flood th-cam.com/video/kyKC3nYFi_k/w-d-xo.html and while you are at it, then why not some metal in Finnish: Stam1na with Valtiaan uudet vaateet th-cam.com/video/3Bk7EjFDsIY/w-d-xo.html
About Insomnium and ur reference to black metal, may I suggest you to add Belsebubs on your "to do" list. There's Insomnium's bassist/vocalist Niilo Sevänen on vocals and the whole band is originally based on a comic by J.P Ahonen. Really good and fun, both the comic and the band. Check out "Cathedrals Of Mourning" th-cam.com/video/SkdkZN1rduo/w-d-xo.html
How awesome to follow your journey as it has so much my favorite genre, melodic death metal! Insomnium is awesome! They were playing on a festival I was few weeks ago. What you got here like black metal, I totally agree. I also like atmospheric black metal, but maybe we get there later... ;) Insomnium is from same part of Finland that Nightwish is... And if you didn't know, Tuomas from Nightwish is also playing in one black metal band called "Darkwoods My Betrothed".
The double bass in the beginning are at odds with the peaceful instrumentation. And the aggressive vocals are seemingly at odds with the visuals. I would like to hear more.
Experiencing Insomnium for the first time is always unik, in my case it was almost 13 years ago with Down with the sun, it was magical but at the first time it left me exactly like you, just trying to really understand what the hell just happened, i was made a fan right there and then.
Great song and reaction!😊 Initially I was so focussed on this one that I overheard the song no.8 Twilight Trails. Especially the growls at the end hit me so deeply. What's your take on this one? btw here's only one review/reaction online atm.
Insomnium is a similar live experience as Opeth (the old stuff) and Swallow the Sun: very melodic and with an emotional atmosphere and that unrelenting double bass drumm blasting your ribcage at the same time. A bit like Amorphis and old In Flames but less cheery and no jumping. edit. couple of tips for StS: Cathedral Walls (with Kai Hahto on drums and Anette Olzon in guest vox) th-cam.com/video/g6W5ScOEv2c/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=SpinefarmRec Woven Into Sorrow (keeping that rage under the lid... ) th-cam.com/video/XKq4iECc8EA/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=CenturyMediaRecords The Crimson Crown (them Opeth vibes): th-cam.com/video/zEVHFtFUIss/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=SwallowtheSun-Topic
Insomnium almost never disappoints. The song White Christ from their new album is quite good as well. Since you liked them and Amorphis, may I suggest the band Before the Dawn. Perhaps their song Chains.
Less than a year ago I would have instantly stopped listening to this song as soon as I heard the growling vocals. I learned to actually like growling by listening to Epica. Now I'm enjoying bands like this one, Winterson, Jinjer, ect. Nightwish lead me to Epica and learning to like the growling has opened me up to so many great bands including this my first time hearing Insomnium. If the rest of their music sounds like this song I'm gonna love them. Someone mentioned in the comments Opeth. I've heard a few of their songs and like them but haven't really gotten deep into their music.
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody I'm listening to it as I type this. The one song of theirs I remember and know I like is Ghost of Perdition. This Master's Apprentice is good.
oh, now you're clearly diving into a new rabbit hole, and I don't mean the band but Finnish (elite 😉😊) metal music. Nightwish, Wintersun, Amorphis, Insomnium... This rabbit hole is endless... In the future, probably Battle Beast, Ensiferum, H.I.M., Turisas, Bloodred Hourglass, Northern Kings, Jarkko Ahola, Children of the Bodom ... Or maybe rock bands like Marko Hietala (ex Nightwish), Poets of Fall, Hanoi Rocks,... In relation to the population, Finland has the most metal bands in the whole world. It also means fierce competition for a place in the sun. So a metal band has to be good to get through in Finland, it has to have something that others don't have. My absolute favorite from this band (Insomnium) is their album "Winter´s Gate" which contains only one song, 40 minutes long! The song is about a group of Norwegian Vikings who have heard of a new land far away and decide to go in search of it. Although winter is approaching, the North Atlantic is dark, rainy and stormy. They go to sea anyway - and find Iceland... But throughout the song you can feel the coldness, humidity and high waves of the North Atlantic. The song is based on a novel written by the band's bassist (+ harsh vocals).
If you ever decide to make a reaction video of that 40-minute long song, I promise to watch it! 😊 I would really like to see how you react to that story! 😅
I would add to the list Mors principium est: E.g. My home my grave And Omnium Gatherum: E.g. Fortitude (Would put links but don't come through, already wrote this once and it disappeared :/ )
Great reaction my dude, turning into one of my favorites🤘🍺 Everyone and their mother would recommend their 'While We Sleep'. A must, a have to, no way around it, so I'm guessing thats next, I hope. I would also request/recommend another Finnish band, bit like Insomnium, Vorna with their hardhitting song Tyhjyys on Tyyni (emptiness is calm in english) th-cam.com/video/qWzPts93Law/w-d-xo.html A much lesser known band but this song/video hits deep.
