Magic table video gaming system engages residents with dementia

Country Meadows is piloting a new gaming system created specifically to engage, stimulate and improve the quality of life for people living with dementia.
The Tover Table is award-winning gaming technology from the Netherlands that projects interactive games onto a table surface. Users can interact with the projected images by moving their hands and other objects over the table. A special projector is mounted to the ceiling and utilizes high-resolution sensors that display purposeful games. It provides an engaging and enjoyable experience that can enhance mood, reduce agitation and encourage social interaction among residents.
Residents are enjoying the Tover Table as it provides opportunities for socialization with friends. Additionally, Country Meadows’ residents’ families are embracing the technology, using it as a way to connect with older loved ones.
Currently the Tover Table is being piloted in Connections Memory Support neighborhoods at Country Meadows locations in Allentown, Easton and Hershey.
