who dares to dislike a video of people trying to spread awareness of amazing animals that may become extinct before some of us have children, just the thought of my children not being able to see such amazing animals gives me chills
half of these can be found relatively easily in the reptile trade a lot are captive bred but the sad thing is when you see a wild caught reptile that's endangered/threatened.
I am torn on this. Yes it is sad to see a creature that is endangered in captivity BUT I think it could be beneficial in the long run. For example lets think about Axolotls. They are are very endangered in the wild. BUT in captivity they are THRIVING. So when the wild population is finally extinct their species isnt gone from the earth forever! So I think it can be beneficial to take in some select few wild caught creatures to breed in captivity to keep the number of the animals alive on the earth UP.
Yes for suresome of the captive lines in the pet trade can get a little murky after a while though, lots of inbreedingA lot of people are against captivity but for instance the zoo I intern/volunteer at releases Puerto Rican crested toads. Many hobbyists would jump at the chance to breed endangered species for a captive breeding program (myself included)
It makes me wanna cry because all these animals are so cute and awesome and yet we’re taking their habitat and killing them at the same time we’re killing our planet.... I wish people were more aware of what they are doing.
Geronimo McDuggins Fair point, but that doesn’t make it any less sad. I understand the projects going on but everyone needs to contribute and acknowledge what we’re doing to our planet to actually make change
Sadly, most are perfectly aware. It’s just that personal/corporate greed for profit and/or lust for expansion completely overshadow any amount of care such groups or individuals might have.
Yes one way to do so is look up & donate to conservation groups that are fighting to save Reptiles & Amphibians, also getting involved in conservation locally & and abroad makes a difference!!!

Like 1/4 of these are not even endangered, 5:41 also there are a ton of New Caledonian Gecko species some of them can be bought at a pet shop for like 30 usd, so not gunna leave this plant any time soon. The ones shown in the video are Chahoua btw, unlike the video leads you to believe, they are not even close to being the largest gecko species, I think they are trying to talk about leachie (ig its still as New Caledonian Gecko), what im trying to say is that there is not a species called a New Caledonian Gecko, its a large group of geckos. This videos goal was still pure and good im not try'n to hate im just saying.
@@hrpdrp97 they are 110% chahoua not *leachies* you can tell by the length of their tail their color their body and head shape and eye patterning. Even if by some slim chance they were (they aren't) they still said the wrong information.
Such beautiful reptiles! I really hope we can save the population of these beauties. This is why wild caught animals in hobby are important. We can keep these creatures from going completely extinct if we can breed them in captivity at least they wont disappear from the world for ever. Much like Axolotls! They are very close to extinction in the wild but are THRIVING in captivity!
I love these videos because they’re informative and bring some awareness. But then it’s sad that all are on the brink of extinction due to habitat loss, urbanization, climate change or poaching. 😔
There is a mistake for the new caledonian gecko. On the video the species is the mniarogekko chahoua, but they are not the largest geckos. The largest are the rhacodatylus leahianus also from new caledonia.
Prehensile tail skinks don't actually have prehensile tails, only semi prehensile. they use them for balance and not grip, you'll never see them hang or swing from their tail like truly prehensile tailed animals
I have a small toy of the Texas horned lizard I got from the dollar store! I was like 6 and it was probably my favorite animal at the time because my sister and I were avid documentary watchers.
The new Caledonian gecko described was a leachianus but the species shown on video was the chahoua. They're both from new caledonia but they're in completely different genuses. Unless they are a locale that is uncommon in captivity.
What they didnt mention in the video I don't think is that the Venom in the Gila Monster and Mexican Beaded Lizard has the potential to cure diabetes as the it could stabilize blood sugar. Sad to see the cure for one of the most common defects is being wiped out
Guatemala Beaded Lizard... wait. I saw this one on the Very Raddest Reptiles And Amphibians episode. ...not that I’m complaining, he’s a good boy. Kinda makes me think Gila Monster to be his extra thick cousin.
Everyone wants to save these animal's yet no one wants to stop human urbanization so there is no point to spreading awareness since everyone thinks everything is a joke now a day's.
If natural selection is running it's course I think we should take the species and breed it and keep it in a specialized habitat somewhere, like a museum of live animals that would be extinct otherwise.
Breed them! I would be happy to have any one of those as pets (including the ones with venom). Couldn't you get the venom glands taken out anyway? I still think even the venomous lizards make better pets than those leachianus geckos.
