I ordered this on LP back when it was released, safe to say Pungent Stench were the sickest and one of the slickest bands of this genre of their time. Those solos were quick for the day too. I remember reading the lyrics, utterly appalled yet somehow hooked; and have been ever since that day, 31 years ago. Was great then, I was 19, worked on arcade on Yarmouth seafront all hours, and each month I would go through metal hammer and order all the deragest sounding bands I could find in the review section, I'd go in Prism Leisure (now gone unfortunately) they all knew me as I was in there weekly seeing if my stock had arrived lol, they ask with a somewhat hesitancy how they could help me and would often revel in the names of the bands I was ordering, i.e. above, chronical diarrohea, gorguts, sceance (listened to that tripping, what an album to visit hell with), tonnes more.

Ahhhhh yessss.... Those were the days. Looking up the sickest bands in Metal Maniacs and ordering them on cassettes or CDs. Then trading them with the only other two metal heads in town... 🤘😈
Seance ´s "Saltrubbed eyes " is the most under rated Death Metal album of its day. Nothing sounded that crushing and downright malicious (That collaboration with In Slaughter natives too, no other band in that genre were preoccupied with atmosphere like they were -debut was also pretty decent ...) \m/

Tee hee to the young fella that may only be buried under cd's. My one buddy had a cpl hundred + album's from the 1980's through the mid 1990's until cassettes and cd's took over. I have a few hundred cassettes some are stuff that you just don't go out and get much less find on cd or some other digital format. It's awesome you dig old school stuff though!
Yeah i love collecting 80's and 90's metal bands. Especially black/death metal from Sweden. As of right now i'm reorganizing my cds. I have to go through over 6000. I used to have alot of tapes but got rid of most of them. The ones i still have are mostly just my old local bands i was in and music i created. I had some vinyl too but most of that got wet and ruined and i still managed to sell them. Didn't get much but it was better than nothing i guess lol.

For God Your Soul... For Me Your Flesh is the debut album of the Austrian death metal band Pungent Stench. It was released on this day 4/9/90 on Nuclear Blast. The original CD pressing came with ten bonus track off the split LP with Disharmonic Orchestra and the Extreme Deformity EP. The lyrics mostly deal with Cannibalism and are often tongue-in-cheek.

I'm 49 years old and i'll always hold my memories of PS at the Petersham or the Lewisham hotel (i cant remember) close to my heart.
Once the Advil advertisement was over, I heard an album which took me back to a simpler time; a time when death metal was uniquely brutal, raw, and distant; a time when the concerts became a quickly fading memory (due to massive brain trauma delivered in the pits); a time when most people in the underground knew Pungent Stench, Carcass, Bolt Thrower ... and actually gave a shit about individual sound, theme, and personality. Thank you for reminding me of the sincerity of past days. And thank you for reminding me that this music isn't rotting in some ancient and forgotten Indian burial ground. (Sorry -- NATIVE AMERICAN burial ground.)

This is the 1993 re-release of the album, not the original 1990 version! Some songs are re-recorded, the others are remastered. That's why the sound is exactly like on the "Dirty rhymes..." EP from 1993. I had the original CD-Release and it had 10 bonus tracks taken from the eps and splits they had released before the album.

This is the re-master version from 1993, with the tracks 7,8 and 9 played and recorded again due to alleged damage to the original 1990 master tape, and with a new front cover.

Bought this album solely due to the album cover and the name of the band around the time of it's release. Harmony house at the summit place mall in Waterford michigan. Instantly fell in love. One of my top 4 albums of all time.
