    Hi Billy, apparently the coconut chip you use is usually drier and compacted. I suggest you add more water and give it more time to hydrate. That way it will be a fairer comparison. Congratulations for the video. Regards

    My snakes have been on reptichip for a month now. And wow what a difference No dust easy clean up. Perfect humidity. I get more time with my animals and less time cleaning. It’s amazing how much you get in a bag. Huge thank you to kb reptiles for hooking me up.......... also hey Billy thanks again for all the snakes. They love the reptichip

  • @forfun212678
    @forfun212678 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Billy it's a lot easier if u just leave it on the bag and add more water to it in there. It should take about 8qts of water. I also noticed the stuff u use looked like it was about 1/2 as think as Coco chip one. What I do is leave it in the bag add 8qts of water and in about 20 min I brake it down. Sometimes it needs a little more, not very often is it to much water.
    I have never let it sit for more than 30 min so when I heard u say u are going to wait a couple hours i couldn't believe it. I the past before I started doing it in the bag I would move the dry to the bottom of the tub because the water u pour in will go down there and it allows the dry to absorb more.

    I use repti-chip myself on my vision cages for my 6 pairs of ball pythons they always have nice sheds and love how much you get out of one block so it lasts a while for me. Spot cleaning is a real breeze with it and it holds the humidity in the care better then the coconut fiber I use to use

    I live in nz, where we have no snakes, I have a irrational fear of snakes. I lived in Australia for 2 years and didn't see 1, although there were python sightings everywhere once snake season started. And still I had my fear of snakes. But when I started watching this channel I feel like I'm getting over my fears because I'm learning more and more about snakes.
    Which is why I truly believe that humans really do fear what they don't understand, knowledge is power.

    I just started using Repti-Chip a month ago. I got a quarter sized rock and a few pieces of confetti-like plastic between two bags of it, third is still unopened. I think I'll try CocoBlox next time. Other than that I love the stuff. It's way faster and easier to unpack if you just toss the block in the big tub and pour water in. Turn the block around a few times, waiting a minute or two each flip. Add more water if needed, then break it apart and churn from the bottom up. Takes 10 minutes maybe, super easy!

  • @SergeiMosin

    I can honestly say I've only used reptichip once so far, but it's made a dedicated customer out of me. Y'all know how finnicky blood pythons are about their humidity requirements, and the reptichip has handled it beautifully. Unmodified exoterra 40 gallon and the humidity is always between 60 and 70. I keep a misting system there as a safety net, but it hasn't gone off once. The one thing I don't like is the bloods won't burrow in it. Which... could be a texture thing, it could be a lack of need because the humidity is high enough on the surface, I don't know, but I'm monitoring their mood and health carefully and I'll move them back to biodude if I notice they're not liking it.

    I've used Prime and Chip. Prime is messier but easier to use I think. Since I only have 6 Ball Pythons there's only a need for about half block of reptichip. It tends to mold and grow weird stuff in it if it's already damp when stored for future use. Prime is easier to use just what I need at the time. Plus I had a fungus gnat problem develop really fast using reptichip even though I clean out/check for soiled areas at least every other day. So, my two cents, use whatever you prefer for whatever reasons you prefer it.
