The best video I've seen on this hands down. Great job and thank you!

Nice job. Great help for me doing the same in my master bedroom.
One comment would be give your time frames…saying awhile doesn’t provide much reference. Granted environments are different (humid versus dry desert). But that is one thing I noticed is no time reference on how long you let things sit between steps. Thanks!

The only thing i would have done differently is pour it and float to slab level and not to the top of the tile. Looks good otherwise

Nice informative video. Did the tile sit on top well? I always worry that the concrete is filled too high and it will make the tile higher than the surrounding area. What do you do if that happens??

Be careful not to do that . This video does not show the finished job ,unless they are leaving a lump of concrete in the middle of the room. There is no termite treatment shown in this video and the dowels were not epoxied into the slab, so if your state requires this ,make sure it is done . also get a permit and inspection. This would fail in florida.

How did you put Tile on top of the concrete if you floated it to the top? seems like you did not think this through

We actually bought this house and it had 9 different tiles throughout the different living areas and bedrooms. Since it's our lakehouse, we bought the Lifeproof flooring from Home Depot which can be installed over existing tile flooring. I just floated the concrete to the top of the tile to make it level before installing the Lifeproof flooring. If we ever decide to change it, and demo all the tile flooring in the way off future, then I will have to knock the concrete down a little.

@@practicalfamilyprojects4357 You said you were going to tile over the concrete (mentioned mortar). I’s a much different project if you were repairing a floor with the same tiles.

How long did it take you from start to finish?

I had all the tools and material on hand. To prep, drill holes, and install rebar, maybe 15 - 20 minutes. Then we mixed the concrete. My little one was helping so it took a little longer, but that usually only takes me a few minutes to mix a couple bags. Then you have to wait for the concrete to cure which will depend on how "wet" the concrete is. All in with the concrete in place, about 30 - 45 minutes, then you have to wait to let you concrete setup which could take up to an hour. You can also get fast setting concrete if you wanted to speed it up.

Nice to show “Happy little accidents” as Bob Ross would say. Only big comment I have. WEAR SAFETY GOGGLES when cutting metal bar. You really, absolutely, positively don’t want a tiny metal splinter in your eye. Ask me how I know. It wasn’t the irritating constant pain and watering in the eye overnight until I could get to the eye Dr. No, it was having to sit absolutely rock still with my eye wide open while he approached my eye with a needle to lift the splinter out. He was sticking a needle in my eye and I had to hold absolutely still. Nightmares. WEAR SAFETY GOGGLES.
