    Excellent. There is so much garbage on TH-cam for jazz tutorials. This is very helpful, thanks Tony.

    I love these videos. A suggestion though, it would be nice if you had time stamps in the description to jump to the specific songs

    Just discovered you. You are now one of my go-to guys. Each teacher has his or her way of explaining and playing, and I really like your style. Many, many thanks!

    also you could arrenge it(the bridge) something like: F#m7b5-B7 IAm7b5 D7b9 IGm7 orI Cm7-F7I Am7 D7 IGm7 to give it a bit more drive or movement

    On Alone together it is nice to play the bridge of night in Tunesia over it, why? Actually in Lazy bird, John Coltrane the same theme(strangely enough) is used as in alone together, To emphasise this aspect i find it nice to do something with this strange bridge...and make it even more strange, but Nice!

    I feel that the B minor seventh is wrong- There is no f sharp needed- that's creating a whole different key. Going directly to an E 7 flat nine is preferable, I feel, for a whole measure. The b- 7th implies a natural 5th, which can be glossed over, but has no function, and is misleading.

      If you are referring to Alone Together, I see your point but I like the change of tonality that comes with the f#

    Love your videos. Thanks for taking the time! One question - do you normally try to play the root on the bottom or does that matter? Thanks!

    • @TonyWinston
      @TonyWinston  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Patrick Cox good question. When playing solo, you definitely don't have to always play the root. But if you avoid the root for too long the harmony may become unclear. Use your judgement.

    With your "How High the Moon" I reharmonized and started with a Gmin/maj 7 and when it repeats later I used C7#11. After all why stick with the familiar when being creative in jazz is so important?
