  • This is one of the most beautiful places in #Dakar, Senegal. #Goreeisland
After visiting 4 countries in 2021 in a bid to visit 21 countries in 2021, I sold everything I had in Nairobi Kenya and moved out of the country. I just bought a one way ticket. The future is uncertain, but I'm taking the risk.
    Currently in Country no.5 #Senegal 🇸🇳

I don't know man! ... Thanks for the content Ms. African Tigress. However, I mostly only heard "The French this, the Portuguese that, and the Dutch the other". Very little about our people. Almost like they never existed yet we know that they would've been the ones who laboured to build all those relics that your poorly educated tour guide attributes only to "the French, Dutch, Portuguese, etc etc". Very sad. Where are the stories about the role, trials, losses, victories and resilience of our people on Goree island. I needed more. Sorry. IJS! ....

The place has become a natural museum itself, I wish they keep it like this for future generation to see it. One time I heard that the Europeans and Americans came back to purchase this entire Goree Island in order to rebuild the island in modern fashion to become a new city and tourist attraction in 1980s but the Senegalese government refused. They could have regret selling this Island to the western world.

Tigress, this was a powerful docu-vlog. To black Americans, Gorrie Island shall forever be known as a place where our ancestors endured unspeakable atrocities. Millions more were murdered there; while others were shackled to ships to endure a life of tragedy. This Vlog revealed their plight at Gorrie Island. May the ancestors be pleased with your work.

I have visited Dakar, Senegal and Goree Island and my visit to the slave dungeon was the most emotional and heart wrenching experience, not only for me but for everyone on the tour. I thing all Africans, in order to gain a better understanding of the descendants of those stolen from the continent to be slaves, should visit the slave dungeons of West Africa.

Roughly 40 years ago, Senegalese lawmakers took up the issue of converting many of the slave dungeons of Gorrie Island into a tourist mecca. Goree Island was and shall always be an international crime scene. Former slave dungeons have now been converted into hostels, government offices, and luxury residences for the elite. There was even debate 40 years ago on whether the stench of 400 years of human trafficking should be eliminated from the dungeons that would remain artifacts of the Atlantic slave trade. I am against any conversion of Goree Island's dungeons into hostels, clubs, restaurants, bars, souvenir shops, etc. Would Jews ever allow Aushwitz to become a mecca where tourists came to reside, buy souvenirs, eat, drink alcohol, and enjoy the party night life?

Thank you for giving us the unadulterated truth/history of the various places you are traveling to. These are pieces of information our history that you do not get in a book or worse in a class room. What is put in a book is often tainted, modified by adding or subtracting Information and worse when someone write the history from their own point of view rather than being objective and writing the raw information. I so thank you for letting us here from people on the ground. Similarly, Go black 2 Africa shared an important piece of history about how Botswana built themselves scratch from someone on the ground. Can’t be more authentic. I want to personally acknowledge all you traveling you-tubers who are not only showcasing Africa, but are providing an invaluable source of information to the youth of today, because they are NOT going to get it in the classroom (for sure). I appreciate you all and just know that when you do things like this that benefit others through inspiration or otherwise, you are living a purposeful life.

It is time Dispora return to Africa to develope Africa. This Island is a beauty that can be develope to be a heaven on earth. Bring life back to it without destroying the history of the place. Imagine this in Europe or America.
