She seemed to have issues everywhere and Dr. Tan’s patience in asking tongue in cheek where there isn’t any pain was easier to ask. You’ve only got to look at her to see that she really didn’t want the help if it meant suffering for a moment or have to work at it, or even be there. Afraid of the needle pain perhaps? She ended up being negative about the whole treatment. Dr. Tan was absolutely right to stop. She may need de-stressing and psychological help first. In many years of clinic I’ve luckily only had a couple of similar cases, where in both times it was a teenage girl coming in with her mother that was very similar. They had been to countless doctors and specialists over years and were known as doctor hunters in the medical community. They never gave any treatment plan a chance and gave up almost immediately on anything before moving to the next hopeful treatment. They wanted a magic wand perhaps. Both girls were withdrawn and positively overweight with an awful head forward attitude and rounded posture, both apparently with few close friends and in the biggest case of the two only a doting mother who fussed and complained about all the doctors they had seen to date. She reluctantly presented to my clinic still complaining and I explained that she would need to make some life changing habits, but she wouldn’t hear of a diet or suggestions to help correct the bad posture. Without her cooperation all modalities are doomed before even starting. In a busy clinic what can one do? You have to very politely move on.

I am a 2nd year acupuncture student. I asked my lecturer one question “what was the most difficult case she had from her experience ?” She told me the patients who never wanna change their living/ eating habits and simply expect you can help their conditions with magic needles.

I would have ran a Shen treatment 1st or released the Autonomic nervous system. Using TB 8 (Japanese location) under 3rd toe, spleen 3 plus PC 4 ... Then Du 23/24 area stomach 44. Then Kidney 9 plus GB 34.... Bury the entity. Then proceeded with that method

I didn't see any evidence of negativity from the way she presented herself, unless you know this person I think you're making a lot of assumptions about her. Are you making these assumptions to excuse the fact that the treatment didn't work instantly? As Dr. Tan himself said, it could have been too strong, and the improvements may have come later.

@@andrewedwardjones - If you are answering directly to me, perhaps you are making the assumptions? With a PhD in psychology I have the luxury of having seen thousands of cases. The young lady who presented to me told us all at the clinic she hadn’t wanted to come at all and was in fact at the mother’s insistence. Once she arrived she didn’t want treatment. They left! Left amicably and we wished her well. In the movie Dr. Tan attempted to do what he did every day of his life and then made a decision after he monitored the reactions, as did I in my case. I saw similarities in this case and after well over 40 years treating patients with remarkable success actually did make assumptions - yes, based on years of knowledge and my comments were applicable to that alone. I, like Dr. Tan would not waste any more time on that case, as I now won’t waste any more time responding to anal remarks from a trolling dipshit like you, who obviously has so much more experience than anyone else and no your remarks weren’t meant as a question, but a rather caustic accusation and assumption of your own, so what’s the use in gratifying your egotistical numpty nonsense any more.

I am guessing from Western viewpoint, that her symptoms suggest "Spinal Stenosis or Lumbar Disc Herniation" I would still treat it with acupuncture but on the spine itself, and perhaps using the Hua Tuo Jiaji Points.

While this is only speculation, I am curious if then”invasion” of the needles into her energy field and physical body may parallel something from her past that has not been resolved and cleared from her body and mind.

id do a few extraordinary channel treatments to clear and balance emotional energy first. she probably fits in emotional based pain. i do wish we had an update. but this is so important to see to be able to teach patients we treat body mind and spirit! you cant always come in for a physical pain and not expect to maybe have to share on deeper things going on. it can be brutally honest or uncomfortable for some patients who arent expecting that. i have had a patient who kept comiing and had very little results long term but loved cupping moving cupping she held so much emotional tension is was always back even with deep treatments. im not sure if she has damage to vertabrae or not? would that lend to now trying hua tuo ?

Try a different needling method if this does not work.
