    I mostly build armor 1/35th scale. I did build my first and only ever 1/72 aircraft... a Tamiya 'Shinden'. I read Saburo Sakai's memoirs years ago and am looking forward to building more aircraft kits. Thanks for the inspirational video!

    The first aircraft had contra-rotating props so that the torque would balance out and thus avoid the aircraft from dipping into the water on one side. They did the same on the Kyofu prototype and then realised that this wasn't actually an issue and reverted to omni-rotational propellers. I believe this was only on the aircraft with a single large float and the outriggers.

    I love building models and you have an awesome collection. I will be honest, I tend to deviate from historical schemes a lot just for kicks so I could never really show mine off for anything other than, hey look what I did. Keep up the excellent work. I am making a move and hopefully this will be my last for a while so I can up my game on the builds and make them more impressive.
    Any websites you would suggest to pick up excellent kits for reasonable prices which ship to the states?

    i bought today a fw190 D. The only problem is that the landing gear isn't retractable (i think. Is it possible to modify so it can ?)

    • @geier1149
      @geier1149 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I always modify it to retract the landing gear in every model. When nothing helps use filler to help.

    FROG also did a forgotten old kit on the "Rita", even though I don't think I ever saw the kit apart from in catalogues.

    • @AbelMcTalisker
      @AbelMcTalisker 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Back in the day some FROG kits were actually reboxed Hasegawa so, if they also did a Rita then it was likely the same model.

  • @kyleSD70MAC
    @kyleSD70MAC 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    If it's alright might I recommend Hasagawa's 1/48 F1M Pete (kit 19196), 1/32 Ki-61 (kit 08078), and 1/48 Ki-45 (kit JT95)? Great kits so far! Got their 1/32 N1K2-J on the way as well.
    Great stash too! I also have the Seiran.

    Hello, I happy to discover your collection. im myself an admiror of WWII japanese planes design. I'm having a little colllection of EASY MODEL warbirds but im desperate to see that there is very very few japanese models from them : (no zeros in white versions, no Kawasaki's n1kxx., no Nakajima's Kixx).
    Do you have any tips or news of japanese incoming models from EASY MODEL? (I know and love the Oxford aviation, Corbi, and Hobby master product for example, but i want to stay in PLASTIC ready made product).
    Thank you.

    You guessed right about the pronunciation of 瑞雲-- zui un. Just say it more quickly. It means "auspicious clouds" and is the name of the Aichi E16A, a two-seater reconnaissance seaplane. Too bad you didn't wait another few days to make this video, because you have another Japanese warplane on its way to you!

    I always liked the Japanese stuff, even though airfix never had much of a Japanese range I loved the 1960s Japanese-made stuff.., I think they should have gone for the Dinah-Ki46 III ??with glass nose..it's a beautiful plane.

    • @rebelsatcloudnine
      @rebelsatcloudnine  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm a bit surprised that they never did, considering they have on in the UK to use as a reference. I know LS models made of in the 70's-80's. I've heard through the rumor mill that Airfix might be planning some more Japanese aircraft in the very near future :D

    • @Countdown70s
      @Countdown70s 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The old airfix Japanese range was very crummy, as was the Italian and Russian subjects..of course it was possible even back then b4 I had access to the more exotic brands offering, even b4 Italerie appeared with excellent offerings , to supplement the basic Airfix and FROG subjects with the likes of the Revell Ki43, Revel Polikapov 1-16, and Revel CR42s and Mc200s..actually I think even FROG, not many years before it sold out, offered an LA5/7 kit and Tupolev SB2.

      Fantastic flying boats...they used them to transport fuel for I-boats, Fish-shoal or something, forget what it was called, for the attack on Midway.
      They were heavily armed, too, were not easy targets for allied fighters, had better defensive armament than a Sunderland had, and far better than PBY had.

    I heard that the airfix decals are inaccurate as they represent a training squadron, not a Rabaul squadron.

    • @rebelsatcloudnine
      @rebelsatcloudnine  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, there is quite a bit of controversy on the accuracy of that particular Zero. I think a few people even went and asked Airfix about their sources. With their B5N2, you can see in the instructions they tried much harder to be more accurate. I even asked around to a few people who would know better and they were stumped as well.

      Find a local modeling club as many guys sell their kits (usually) REALLY cheap, especially the 1/72nd scale stuff. The same when there's a modeling contest with a lot of stuff being sold. Also, check out Ebay and The Squadron Shop. Squadron has monthly sales and more than once have gotten some really good buys. If you're looking for tools, check out your local hobby shop along with Hobby Lobby and Michaels...and don't forget about their usual 40% off online coupons you can use in the store.

    Hi i wonder if you could help me, i bought recently a hayate but i dont trust the old very old instructions so im asking you about the paintings, the upper side should go in green but im not sure if i should use humbrol 75 ( as it says in airfix japanese aircraft) and on the underside the instructions say silver but i doubt about it. So if you could help it would be great .
    Second would you explain again how does the vaakuum thing work please i will find it useful !
    Thank you very much !!!
    Greetings from Mexico!

    • @rebelsatcloudnine
      @rebelsatcloudnine  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +josef alfaro kreiner von richtofen I've never used the Humbrol 75 personally, but based on the few pictures I found I think it would be a nice color. If you aren't too satisfied with it, perhaps look for a more drab green. Like Tamiya XF-13. Unfortunatly, my book on the Hayate, is hidden somewhere in storage at the moment. But I recent found out while researching the Ki-100, that later in the war some places would only use the green on top to save time, and not bother to paint he underside. I haven't' found anyplace to 100% confirm this, but Japan did have many aircraft that were silver and Green, like the Ki-43 Hayabusa. Here in this video I demonstrate vaccu-forming a new canopy :D th-cam.com/video/CBand4qeunU/w-d-xo.html

      +rebelsatcloudnine thank you very much ! Just a last question
      Ive looked at some ki84 photos and there is a black stripe coming from the cowling to the cockpit, but on my instruccions there is no stripe, so that stripe must be there?
      Again thank you very much !!!

    • @rebelsatcloudnine
      @rebelsatcloudnine  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +josef alfaro kreiner von richtofen No problem. Some of the Ki-84's had them and some didn't. They do seem to be a more common on a lot of the Hayate. I think if you wanted to add the black strip there wouldn't be any harm in doing that, would probably look really good :D
