You must not play metal or punk. I never seen that chord get played and if it was, was only in one song. I can name three songs rn that don’t have that chord. First song nervouse breakdown by black flags, next song seek n destroy by Metallica and third song is forming by the germs. These are just a few out of 100s of examples. Edit: I didn’t even know about this chord til today. So that shows how much you really need it for songs.😂

Almost every record has an easy version and then has a more complicated professional version. We learn the easy ones to start but once you start getting into bar chords and chord shapes like that, that's when you know you're getting into real playing.

That's f'n hilarious. You see, my father was a horrible meth head. But a wonderful blues player. I was 15... I asked him to teach me to play. So that's the first chord the old man showed me. When I couldn't get it, the old man beat me for wasting his time. Told me I was to damn stupid to play an instrument. And then refused to ever teach me. I spent years fumbling in the dark with it. Trying to learn while he was at work. But I learned. Once I played my first blues scale, the old man locked his guitar up. And he's never touched it since. That was 30 years ago. I still jam. Funny thing is, there’s a hidden message here. You can play one chord in lots of different ways, this eventually leads to discovering arpeggios, triads, seventh-chords and inversions of them, which is key to amazing solos and deep musical ideas!
Unironically, I did start with C and a simplifies G major, F major, and B minor chords and I almost quit after a week. But it did help me to find the basic chords like G easy to play and switch upon
Are you playing F as a barre chord? You might have an easier time if you leave out the 2 E strings, therefore eliminating the need to barre. It still requires four fingers, but you can play it with more of a relaxed grip. It also sounds better in my opinion.

By leaving out the two E strings, you are just removing two extraneous "F's" from the chord, with one still remaining on the D string. However, if you are being a snob and going to tell me "actually, it's F/C", then you are correct.
