The secret about power is how you apply it. You can have a million HP engine, if the power is transferred through dog turd to the ground it will feel like 200 HP.
Yes, it seems like a nice and suitable power plant for this machine. Judging by maximum horsepower it's almost overpowered - small (and relative to this project, very heavyweight) farm tractors (with huge wheels in comparison) can work with similar hp. Pulling attachments heavier than Donn's UTV's while their numerous blades or discs buried in soil. Power won't be the limiting factor.
When I was in High School an older friend, who was a Heavy Equipment mechanic and a bunch of his coworkers would enter a car in the local Destruction Derby. They used to let me “help” get the car ready, one of their secrets was to weld the plant gears together for a poor mans posi-traction. They placed well every year. They would also fill the rear tires with water. Boy, that was fun! I ended up becoming a mechanic and put my self through college wrenching.
I would give 5 thumbs up if I could. I cannot believe he got through that monster differential gearbox, did his weld mod and got that thing back together properly. What a freak show of engineering.
Hi Donn, it's obvious that your abilities have no limits. The UTV you build is like you, you just can't stop it. My sincere compliments my friend, FANTASTIC !
Works great mister. I must say that you def have alot of skills and confidence to tear into that drive unit. Bravo !!! Im getting antsy to see what kind of body panels you com up with You have certainly ROCKED THIS BUILD!!! Casanova PA loves it !!!

Brilliant result!. Pls fix the exhaust leak (at least it sounds like one)... reminds me of an old paddock basher that I had that used to give me headaches until I fixed the exhaust. Looking forward to the final look and panel design.
Yes yes yes, it can go anywhere but but does it have a cupholder?... no I think not, guess what..? My car does!! 😄 (I love that it’s so short, wheels on each corner, for steep ascend and descend and sooo quiet.)
That thing is amazing. To get a little more grip when one wheel breaks loose and you stop moving apply the brakes a bit to force the open differential to transfer power to the wheel with traction. It’s a trick to compensate for open diffs.
Skill level is top notch! Even building tools to do things, but u have effectively built the heaviest single seater UTV there is! A whoping maybe 80hp nd the weight of 2-3 sxs , still awesome to have done it ALL personally, that's what this generation is missing bc everything is disposable and you don't have to work for it anymore!

I apologize for going there. This is a terrific video. 👍
Awesome! That clutch return spring thing and all the cables you have! I’ll tell you that many use boat cable to do what you’re trying to achieve and it is all sealed and safe and keeps working perfectly for years! I hope this helps it did help me when I was told about it! However use hydraulic anytime you can it’s the ultimate! Also put your radiator in back at an angle away from you and everything getting all the wind it can with your electric fan! You will be amazed and much cooler!
@@RubenKelevra It is so light I don't think it will ever be a problem. Half the idea is a budget build is what you already have in a wreck so spending big $$$$'s on diffs for it kind of defeats the purpose a bit.
8:13 When I do this I cover the bearings with leather gloves and I just weld a small bead between the teeth, that's more than enough and it prevents the bearings from being subjected to too high a temperature which has the consequence that they lose their hardness.
Somehow I knew you take this build to a whole new level. Outstanding. I am truly amazed and pleased. Your TIG skills are getting much better. Your welds are beautiful.
That driving didn't end there. I'm now almost through the first tank of fuel and still haven't gotten tired of driving this thing. 😀 It's been a long wait for it to be in driveable condition.

If you plan on going with BMW limited slip differentials, you can put more clutch disks and plates in them to make the lock up ratio higher. As they get old and the clutch material wears away, they lose a lot of their locking ability. Replacing all of them will help, but adding more will make it lock even better.
