I have a 06 C2S. Plugs, coil packs, driven oil, top tier fuel, pccm+, Bilstien pasm coil overs, x51 third radiator, giro disc rotors, 200 cell cats, fister mufflers, DSC controller, trans axle fluid change, and the exhaust is hanging low on his car on passenger side. That means he needs new motor mounts. Do gt3 lower control arms. As well.
I've also owned the same car.... Top mounts, engine mounts, RMS always has a leak, Has it had the IMS done? maybe do a boarscore check as I did see a bit of blue smoke when it first started. Some suffer from a heat start issue, after a long run, turn it off and then start it to see if it starts straight away... if it has a long crank to start it, it could be the Y, or the connection from the battery to the firewall, they always corrode, or the starter motor is on its way out. Good luck and enjoy the car! it looks amazing :)
Everything @jaforsel said and also add GT3 front brake ducts, they are less than $10 each! The motor and tranny mount for sure, just changed them on mine and it made a huge difference. Also change the thermostat to a low temperature one and add Water Wetter to the coolant. 7mm spacers on the front and 15mm on the rear and Michelin PS5's
whoever said that they were "over the Porsche content" can find me in a back alley somewhere.... Awesome work as always, so happy for Kev! Keep grinding
Major congrats to Kev. I cannot be happier for him. He majorly deserves it! Meanwhile I'm here for the Porsche content because I can't believe you got into Porsche's and that makes me so happy. Rip Absolutely make sure to check the engine over entirely. Make sure the air oil separator system works properly. The spark plugs will tell the most story on the engines for bore scoring. There is a oil additive that liquid Molly makes it's a friction modifier that really helps prevent bore scoring. Some of the biggest things that cause the boring is the change of temperatures. Worst environments for it tend to be the Northeast portion of the US. When the engines cold started and lack of friction. The direct injection washes the cylinder walls and during cold start it runs really really rough basically digging into the wall. So that's why a lot of the guys in the community want the friction modifier as it helps keep the cylinder walls lubed up nicely. If you want to see some of the biggest ones that got ruined from that generation was the Cayenne S v8 engines. I personally had one and it broke my heart. I know one of the biggest reasons what caused it was apparently Porsche didn't have the blocks coated correctly. And I think it wasn't until 2009 when they started getting them coated correctly. I may be mistaken but this is based off some old research. It has to do with the Lokasil or Alusil blocks. I believe the alusil blocks were the early ones that had the scoring.
@@caps4lifeov8 I almost forgot! To check coil packs for cracks. Apparently it was something that was on the list of important things to make sure was never neglected to avoid the bore scoring. Also much love to a Porsche fan. Thanks homie.
Hi TJ I hardly ever leave comments but I just wanted to show support for all the 911 content. Love all cars but these cars get you hooked as you get older for some reason. You do such a great job providing us entertainment and useful content. Thank you.
I’m so freaking proud of Kev, man! For yearsss his F30 has been my fav in the background and loved the vlogs where it had more screen time I can’t wait to see what he does with the 997 and all the new P car content that will come from this channel.
I own a 2006 also and did a X51 headers, kept stock side saddle exhaust and did center delete. I have GT3 rear bumper with the center exit exhaust. I also did X51 airbox and had to add another intake cut into the rear boot lid. Bilstein coilovers, did a rear seat delete and add a roll cage. also did a center cut on the front bumper and 3rd radiator. I also went with the lightened flywheel so at idle sounds like a GT3.
Maintenance > Mods. Water pump if you don’t know when it was done, while you’re at it low temp thermostat, 3rd radiator. Has it been bore scoped? Check fuel trims to make sure those are right. As with any new to you performance car, or car in general, new fluids. 06 C2S also with AeroKit here, the first thing I did was the above cooling mods, changed all the rubber cooling hoses, fluids. Sent in my oil for UOA and it showed higher fuel dilution, so I changed the injectors (original from 06). PCCM+, is on my list. As far as cool over, budget dependent. Could also do springs and look into a DSC Controller. Exhaust: check out Fister or the Gundo hack. If that’s not your thing then whatever. I have factory PSE, and I’m leaving that. Numeric has good shifter stuff. Congrats on the 911!!
TJ, I love the porche content. I would love to see a 997 gt3 restoration. ever since you started the porche content I have been hooked. I hope you can get it in the future.
this made me smile. good for you dude. My old minivan died, and ultimately i got another minivan. I need to haul tools. I have kids. it makes sense, but seeing you guys getting all these cool cars makes me happy for you. kick ass boys!
I’m absolutely jealous but so fucking happy for Kevin. Watching him throughout the years and to see the path he choose to take in life, it’s truly amazing to see him achieve this goal! Maybe he revives his TH-cam career for a build series???

What an amazing first P car. I would highly recommend a set of Ohlins road and track coilovers with Vorshlag front camber plates, as well as numeric racing shifter cables. Wheels/tires of your choice, and full race Soul exhaust. Other than that, it's all preference mods from there. Not much you need to do to make these cars drive really really nice.
welcome to the 997.1 club. They are wicked cars and are undervalued as the last analog porsche. Numeric shifter/cables,renline engine mounts/ipd plenum, headers, high flow cats/mufflers for a nice growl + tune. Bilstein Pasm coilvers work great. I have the fabspeed center gt3 exhaust complete with headers but their fit and finish is terrible I had many issues
Preventative Maintenance parts for the 997 Add radiator reservoir tank with the water pump/thermostat replacement as well as Belts/pulleys, engine mounts, and replace all fluids.
It looks like the Carrara S when you went to Porshe a couple few episodes ago, that the employee at Porsche owned...you were checking out on the street close to where you parked...beautiful example of a Carerra S...✌️
Alternator/Battery/starter harness is a good preventative maintenance idea to do. The harness wears out over time at the connection of the starter, and the car will struggle to start up. It seems like a dead battery, but it is the actual harness. Just replaced one myself.
Have to go with Manthey racing parts for the Carrera S Kevin and Tj definitely are some of the best or just do a exhaust , wheels and a widebody kit would be cool !
ohlins, gt3 control arms, wheels, numeric shifter and cables, dundon exhaust, clutch kit with lightweight flywheel. .1s have bore scoring and ims issues so never drive hard unless fully up to temp and use quality oil. Lots of aftermarket solutions to address the ims problem.
TJ Hunt Clips Awesome Video and Congratulations to Kevin on getting his awesome Manual 997 911 Carrera S with the Aero Package and I can't wait to see to see his build and I definitely why you didn't get your 997 GT3 and I can't wait to see what Cars are coming to the channel

I'm so happy for Kevin. I'm a huge 997.2 Porsche fan boy. I've owned my 997.2 GT3 for 11 years. 997's are the best-looking and best sized of all 911's. TJ, I'll sell you my car!!
