Doug went sbc as it's slightly shorter than a sbf and it made it that much easier to fit.

I don't like being 'that' Ford guy, but at a car show, we see a lump where a Ford should be, and we keep walking. Aftermarket accessorie drives allow a short water pump . No dist at firewall, means engine can set back more, Bell housing for Maverick and such allow more firewall and exhaust clearance. It's been done thousands of times.
That said... an excellent build. Huge props for professional workmanship !

@@steverives3060 A hotted flathead would be cool!
For decades, it was common for guys that had money and didn't care, to put Chevys in Fords. We have SBF, BBF, Mod motor, coyote and the 7.3. even the Ecoboost!
It's an excellent build, with a slight blemish. Blue Oval guys need to politely state our opinion on Ford-in-a-Ford, if we want to be respected. 😉👍

If I could give that video 10 thumbs' ups, I would, mate. HUGE thanks to you for showing it to us and the same to Doug for commissioning, owning and taking such great care of it. From the outside, there is very little - if nothing - to suggest that she was anything but stock and certainly nothing to suggest she will peel the tyres for you if you ask nicely! Chirping them in second even! Man, that's the sort of car I dream of when I think of owning an old street rod, eh. A total sleeper, big and comfy to cruise in, magical sound from the pipes and plenty of grunt when the mood takes me....absolutely love it. All the best!

What a gorgeous car. Very tastefully done. It's so nice to see a car that doesn't have 20 inch wheels
and an LS engine. I really liked seeing the old Sun tach box and tach.
I've been cursed with being a perfectionist since I was very young. Most people would never notice,
but I picked up on the windshield frame screw slots being indexed the same right away...
Kiwi, I wasn't going to say anything, because I didn't want the owner to think I was nitpicking the car,
but while you were going for a ride, you mentioned a very slight rattle and you thought it might be the exhaust.
At the beginning of the video when you showed the back of the car, it looked like the passenger side exhaust tip
was hanging a little lower than the drivers side. Maybe I was just seeing things or it was how the car was sitting.

Only thing I don't like on that car is that wooden board behind the seat back/upright. I'd really like to see some metal bar stock in its place. Or at least sister it.
What a beauty!!! My Dad's first car was a '41 similar to that. I love the subdued red on the wheels too!
Only other change I'd make would be to put a Ford engine and transmission in it... Maybe make the shifter more stock looking.

As an Aussie I've never really understood the popularity of using Chevy engines in Ford builds like this and other earlier hot rods, can anyone here explain it to me?
I mean I understand that a SBC is just as far away from the original fitment as a small block Ford would be, but why not maintain the family name? Hot up parts for both brands seem to be near equal then and now, SBC were always the most popular of a very popular bunch of the big three's engines, is that all it took to enable cross breeding as it were?
I'm not against it BTW, just curious.

Oh man, nice hotrod! My favorite body style for a hotrod. My brother picked up a 1940 ford up in Ohio back in the 80's and hot roded it. Built 327, tri power 4 speed. His was the rare Business man coup. No outside door handles from the factory. It had posts next to the vent windows and the vent windows were framed. There was a little lock and latch assembly on the vent windows. You'd unlock the vent window, push it open, and reach in and open the door from the inside handle. I quess they were designed for door to door salesman back in the day.
