    It's so annoying when I ever mention Chinese weightlifters people have this idea that these guys are being chosen and being forced to train. Such a ridiculous and narrow minded way to look at another culture. They are just disciplined and have brutal training sessions but that doesn't mean they are forced to do anything. Sure this might be their opportunity to escape poor living but nobody's holding a gun to their head. You have so many video's of the weightlifting camps where the kids are having so much fun while doing exercises and really nice and patient coaches. They might be strict and disciplined but it doesn't mean they act like prison guards. We really have a soft culture here in the west. We can learn so much of Asian culture.

      Why China needs force anyone to do anything? I mean they have billions people, there is only rarely chance to get in national team, why they need force someone?

      This is the stereotype of Hollywood. The only difference between Chinese athletes and the west is that the country cover everything ,
      you don’t have to go to work, you are paid, If you win in the competition, the prize is a lot,if you dont do well, usually the government will help you find a job (not in every case). So many poor people choose to be athletes and compete for the country .of course only the most talented will be accepted ,and the management is also stricter. but if you don’t like it, just go home , NO ONE FORCING YOU!

      @@meteoricdec5337 I simply don't believe all the stories when I see an overwhelming amount of footage that points in the other direction. Interviews of athletes that explain how their system works, western weightlifters that are sometimes welcomed to train with chinese weightlifters. Of course things are disciplined but they are still people. Same goes for Russian system. I've seen footage of Dimitry Klokov (also other weightlifters) where he gets asked about Russia and he just rolls his eyes as if to say "What are you talking about?". Of course there will be shady things happening in every country but you can't just accuse an entire culture of being mindless robots just because you've "heard" it's like that in Asia. I've been Thailand and every thing I've heard about Thailand before was prostitutes, ladyboys and poor people. I've never seen such peaceful and respecting people in my life. Man, what a culture. They barely speak a word English (which they don't have to) but they are so helpful. I've seen the Muay Thai fights and it was a blast. I don't believe anything until I experience something myself. Thanks for your praise 🙏

    To learn he almost gave up. Remember kids, don’t give up and you might end up a champ.

      You just have to pick your battles. Maybe something wasn't meant to be. If you're as close as him you don't give up of course. The most important thing is you love the thing you're doing otherwise you're not gonna be consistant enough to make it to the top.

      I think it stresses the importance of finding the environment that best fits you and your goals. His old coach, whatever the reason, pushed him to injury. Maybe not deliberately, but he obviously wasn't trained mentally to sustain in the sport. Until he met Yu, when everything just 'clicked', and he was able to train safely, while still getting the most out of his skill potential.

    • @jiadizhang4107
      @jiadizhang4107 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No offense, but he gets a ton a commission from the government for winning medals. The commission goes to the coach only. Athletes receive different amounts of monthly subsidies depending on their performance.

    • @jiadizhang4107
      @jiadizhang4107 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Coaches also receive funds for training purposes, and very often they just take away a large portion of their fund for themselves. No offense, but this is how central planning works. You don’t need to worry about the coaches, since they often benefit more from the athletes’ performance than the athletes themselves.
