@@asosyalpicimamk Interesting. You ain't being smart on this. Popularity doesn't make one a legend. Legends become popular eventually, either during their prime or after their prime but one thing is common about them which is, they are remembered forever for something.
No matter how popular Cardi is she will never be remembered as Whitney Houston. I don't even think people remember Cardi till she releases another single and everywhere is noisy. Go read comments under Cardi's songs and come read comments under Emeli's. Emeli may not be getting more views than her but Emeli is making a traceable impact with music.
@@asosyalpicimamk It's fine. I get your point better now. Well, when it comes to legendary it doesn't only rest in the arms of Hollywood. Tupac wasn't the only shout about artists when he was alive. In fact, it was the blacks that made noise about him but as of today, Pac's known way more than he was alive because he made music that had a progressive impact. That's a traceable impact right there and that's what I mean. Pac will influence rap forever. Emeli, on the other hand, is one of the few artists that bring people's hearts at peace with her music. You read the comments under her songs and you see people getting refreshed and energised. You may not want to sit to listen to her but if you do, you will be addicted to the hopes she brings. That progression is very slow but sure. I can listen to Emeli all day but I can't say the same with any of those folks you described as Hollywood succumb artists like that. What I am saying is, there are legends that we're not popular in their days. Most philosophers faced that. Leaders and even in entertainments.
When you mention the rapper Hopsin, many people don't really know him but he's one of those people I'm talking about. So there Kendrick and there's Hopsin. 1 is very popular the other isnt as popular. 1 is already recognised as a legend in the rap game, the other will definitely be recognised no matter how long. It isnt popularity, it's the impact. How many peoples lives have counted on those tones, lyrics and art.
Also using Legend for Emeli isn't in vain. I am actually one of those people who are particular about the use of words. Example people using the word genius anyhow. I use it for her, because of what I've seen her music do. Soon many will use it for her I believe.
