I have worn this exact speedmaster 4.5 every for the last 14 years. It was originally purchased by my grandfather and then worn by my dad. He gave it to me on my 18th birthday two months after my grandfather passed away. I'm not a materialistic man but it's my prized possession.
My dad bought this exact watch in switching 1983, gave it to me in 1988 for my 15th birthday. It has been in my position ever since. It will go to my son when he is of age to appreciate it. An absolute classic.
I’m not so sure that the glass is mineral, as you state. The reason I say this is I bought mine new in 1982 and it has been a reliable tool watch for me. There is not even the hint of a scratch on the crystal. Still looks new out of the box. So I am inclined to believe it is sapphire. I could be wrong but I know that other watches of mine with mineral crystal do develop some scratches over time. Nice video. Thanks for sharing.

Great looking Speedy. The chrono hand looks to be a replacement though.
