  • Setting up and using a morticer can be tricky if you've never used one before. Skill Centre Tutor and Head of Staff Training, Craig Steele, uses the Axminster Craft AC16BM Morticer to illustrate what you need to know.

I have had the Festool Domino for years but am needing to cut much larger mortises. I found this video very concise and on point. Thanks for the information.

I've had a SIPP HCM for a good number of years and am pretty familiar with it's setup. I watched this, and your other APTC videos, because there are ALWAYS tips and tricks to be learnt from you guys. This one was no exception with the section at the end on sharpening that I for one had no idea about. Thanks Craig (and Ben) for a really good, informative yet informal presentational style tutorial.

I use a morticing attachment on my drill press(all bought from Axminster) and I have been impressed with the results, until recently. Thanks to this video I will now be able to sharpen the chisels and get back to the original excellent finish. Many thanks Craig and the team.

Whenever I've seen this machine in the catalogue, I've always thought it looks such good value - and even looks nicer than the trade one you sell (cosmetically - colours, shape etc). Think I will get one soon.... :-)

Excellent training video, you mention everything to take note of in setting up the machine and bit which should be obvious but generally to the diy ( myself ) gets missed. Thankyou.!

    Good morning
Do you sell the moving table part?
My morticer doesn't have a clamp or table

This was a really clear and instructive video, thank you, Craig and team Axminister. My confession is that I have had one of these mortisers, a retirement gift, for six years and not used it until now, as I have a Festool domino - yes, ok I am a very lucky guy! What I need to know is; can I make the width of the mortice wider by moving the wood forward in the vice, after the first line of cuts? My concern is that the second cut may not be the full with of the chisel. Is this an ok process?

I can’t seem to find this model on your website anymore.
Has this been discontinued? The video is less than 6 months old?
