I sold my TD in 1975 in order to buy a home in Wellington, New Zealand. The buyer still has the car and has lovingly restored it. We made contact this year and I was able to sit in “Cyril” once again. Beautiful little creation, these cars make driving fun, they definitely bring a smile. The TD was my one and only MG.

Great cars, very easy to drive in modern traffic. good brakes, great handling and best driven with the hood down and the side screens off. Easy to drive, they roll a bit but are very well balanced and the feel through the steering gives a lot of confidence.

My first car was a 53 TD. Absolutely lovely car in appearance and sound with an exhaust sound like no other car. Exquisite to look at but every one should come with a 3 month course in auto repair. Lucas electrics were a bad joke. Actually had a hand crank that snapped to the back of the bench seat top. Seats are bucket bottom and bench top. 20 gallon tank with no gas gauge-idiot light for lo gas that comes on as soon as tank is empty. Mine ate generators and voltage regulators. Once a month. No turn signal from factory-had to have a timer turn signal added. Radiator cap screwed on. Engine was tiny(48 hp) mine came with busted 1st gear on 4 speed box. Moss motors from California provided new one. Mine came without side curtains or working wipers. Frame rear springs covered by a rear skirt. Still the classiest car I ever had. Traded it to a guy for a 65 MGB(with a roll bar) I got the better deal. These cars are a real hobby if not maintained! (Suicide doors also!)(on the TD)

Just bought one and waiting for the covered car carrier to deliver it. Can't wait even though it isn't as nice as this one.

my first car was an mga but there were still plenty of these tds on the road back in the sixties when i bought my mg. i would love to have one. i know the engine and transmission on these cars like the back of my hand and i wouldn't hesitate for a second to drive one across country as long as i had my tools with me. :)
    update....

One of the best looking cars ever made, British car building at its best, if only they kept making cars like this but with all the modern tech, disk brakes, fuel injection, fuel gauge ! And A/C not that you need that where this car is located, 10*/10*

@@RICKTUNE I have ‘perfect pitch’ been playing the piano since a boy of 3 years, very fortunately my grandparents had a piano and it was because of that piano I was able to sit and run my hands across the keys, I can remember my first chord, G major!
