Good to see! Not quite nailing my tacks yet, but only on 6th session, but I kitefoil extensively. I found I got round the eye of the wind and grabbed the wing on the new tank, but lost momentum, either falling off back, or slapping sideways straight down into water.
Yes, that's how tack attempts went for me for a while. You need to really push your weight forward and push the wing over and in front of your head. Once it works it feels great, so keep pushing!
Haha, thanks! But you didn't see all the falling in between the good moments! I do want to get into jumping again. I'm waiting for a smaller foil for that. Backflip never though! I would crap my pants! I see you are also into windsurfing and posted some cool videos!
Muy Bien, I was practicing those two exact things the other day but with an 8m Strike, uff too many times coming close to the foil meeting me, so decided on waiting for a smaller wing day. But getting there, the 8m on the tack needs more board speed and I need to be quicker over the head, the Race gybe I touched the wing tip too many times. I hope to conquer these for the winter sessions. Hasta luego
Oh wow. Yes big wings make maneuvers much harder. Better to learn with small ones. But I am actually trying to learn the race jibe because I think it will be very useful for my big wing (9m²) in the very marginal days. I lose too much power in the normal jibe with a big wing (takes long to go from one side to the other). Let's see if I can pull a race jibe off on the big boy one day.
Nice video - I’m still at the point where I celebrate a successful conventional on foil Gybe. A question if I may, I’m going to be visiting my son and his wife in Barcelona for a few weeks at the end of the month. I’m bringing my winging gear, where are the best spots you recommend? We are staying fairly centrally but I’ll have the car.
Hi Steve. Thanks! If you can do jibes on-foil you are already in a great spot! The closest to Barcelona is probably Badalona. Look for the "Escola del Vent". There is a parking lot, but I don't know how full it will be, especially on weekends. I haven't gone out there myself. Down the coast there Playa de la Murtra, quite close to the Airport. There is a big paid parking and a nice beach. However the water is shallow so have to walk out a bit before you can foil and need to be careful about shallow areas. My home spot is at the Cabrera de Mar train station. Free parking next to the beach the water gets deep fast, so you can get on the foil right away.
@@windaddict had a great session in Badalona today, it’s a great spot, parking and rigging super easy and launch is pretty straightforward - once out there were some nice bumps which is different for me as I ride on a lake usually. Thanks once again for a great tip to go there wouldn’t have found it myself I think.
Another nice video, thanks. Good to see you are so stoked with your progression, every little achievement is a great boost isn't it? How do you measure your speed for the session, are you using a smartwatch? If so, which one please, or what apps? Thanks.
Thanks a lot for your nice comment! Yes, the little achievements really do feel good. And there are so many maneuvers and things to try and learn in wingfoiling. Yes I use a smartwatch. It is a Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 that I got second hand a while ago. I just record a "cycling" workout with it when I go out and I have the "high accuracy location" option enabled. (I hear newer Samsung smart watches have a "windsurfing" workout mode but apparently that doesn't even record location, so it seems to be useless.) Previously I used the Strava app for recording my speed with the watch, but that uses a lot more battery than the native Samsung workout tracking for some reason. There are definitely more professional ways of recording your speed, i.e. dedicated watches / gps units for watersports speed tracking. There is a guy who developed a watersport speed tracking app for Garmin watches. But I like that with my smart watch I can make calls in case of an emergency, Garmins cannot do that. There seems to be a good app for water speed tracking for the Apple watch called "waterspeed" if I remember correctly. I just always use Android phones, so don't really want an Apple watch.
Yo, there was some serious wave to glide stocked ! Performing manœuvre is twice harder on the ocean 🌊 for the race jibe i can do it only one way , same goes for the tack and the toe side tack. Im gonna have to find new move because you are catching up to me now soon your will surpass me😅
Haha thanks Youdig! You shouldn't be too worried, I got lucky that day and I don't think any new maneuvers are coming anytime soon. 😁 Need to get some consistency first

Well done, I wish I was that good. Now the back flip !

@@stevewebb8035 awesome!! Glad you had a good time. Yeah chop/waves make a big difference but can be very fun
