Hey guys, love your show. I've started playing again after many years (I'm now 68, so I just don't have that long, but I'm giving it my best shot). I always played an acoustic but now play electric and with all the info online you can learn more in a year than you could back in the day unless you were just in the right place. When I used to listen to or watch musicians play it seemed all the focus was on the singers and when you have that urge for the guitar you want to know about the guitar players I watch more of these types of things on TH-cam, such as Musicians Hall of Fame and now you guys, and I think many guitar players would agree, that hearing you top guitar players tell the stories about your journey in the context of being a guitar player better than any damn thing on TV. Keep up the good work.
Yes and no, but it's really about the setup, and not how expensive a guitar is. Expensive guitars can help, in that they are USUALLY well made and therefore can be properly setup. Setup, and the "ability", or build quality, for a guitar to be setup properly, is more important than the price. If you give a $5000.00 Les Paul to a person struggling with a cheap guitar that, for example, has string height you could drive truck under, then yes, it will probably "make" them play better, as long as it's setup better than the cheap one. Or, you could give the cheap guitar a good setup, if it's made well enough, and achieve the same thing. These guys know that and should make it clear.
I've got 2 Fender Squier's Stratocasters. They play fine and one of them sounds amazing on the neck pickup. I payed $100.00 each for them 6 years ago. Love y'all show!
I picked up a couple for 50 bucks and a couple given to me due to neck twist. I assume the wood was cut from slabs where the grain wasnt uniform. Squire pickups are low quality but the bodies are okay. Vibrato setup is different from USA Strat. MIM are as good as US made as far as sound. I have built 6 or 7 stratocopies
I’ve got a hoard of guitars but it doesn’t make me sound any better. Lol. Touch and phrasing is where it’s at for sure. I have a passion for guitars though. Does Bob still have that Gretsch 6120 that I seen him play on a John Fogerty concert that I have on DVD? Which leads to this question for a future show.....What was it like working for John Fogerty?
Playing a Malaysian Stratocaster, with a Roland VG-8 system. It’s old & a tad clunky but it plays like a pricier American version. It’s all about the practicing, 4 sure.
Bottom line: don't be a brand chaser cause you just throwing away munny, let me tell you what. True dat. The best players have always been Frankenstein guitars. Keep what you like, get rid of the rest.. I mean, you don't have to be bloody rainman or something. Do you?
Great video!

My 1st guitar in the mid 60's was a cheezo 20 buck thing from EJ Corvettes in Jersey ... did the trick !!
Thank you guys for this show. You are a treasure. Keep it up and Merry Christmas.
Man I wish I had you guys when I was a teenager

I do not have that guitar any longer. Musically, playing with John was great... what a setlist.
Thanks ! You are a TH-cam treasure. Could you talk more about your collaboration with Eric Clapton ?
My first electric guitar was a Kapa, I wish I still had it!
So good, so good, so good! I hope you will do more if these. Y’all really got something to say.

"nice guitars are nice but they aren't necessarily necessary" haha
Have you ever played or met Jesse Ed Davis? Great work fellas?
I knew JED and played with him several times. He was a fabulous player and a sweet man. Bob
I dig the Tokai Flying V
