The only thing Justin has going for him is he can run other than that he has nothing going for him I say trade him to another desperate team and get someone else to take his place for 2025 as a backup behind Russell Wilson Russell is the man
I'm writing from Denver, and I was commenting on various social media pages from the get-go (before training camp even began), that I was confident that Russell and the Steelers were going to have a lot of success this year as it was a good fit (that's the short version). And, I predicted that the Steelers would end up signing Russell to a 2-3 year contract after the season, probably a 3-year. I wouldn't have bet a ton of money on this, but I'm not at all surprised by how well Russell and the Steelers are doing. Russ's injury obviously threw a big wrench and some uncertainty into the equation, but I had little doubt that Russ could take the Steelers deeper into the playoffs than Fields could.
Steelers need to focus on one game at a time. After the season is over, then you sit down and figure out what's the best players that give us a chance to win 🏆 You never know when something happens on and off the field.
You're welcome, I started campaigning against Pickett right after we drafted him. I knew that he wasn't good, and I knew that being he was Colbert's laSt draft and a Pittsburgh kid it would take at least 3-4 years before we got off him unless the fans rejected him on mass. Thanks for all the Steelers fans and their football knowledge
You have to know why they are going to bring back Russel simply because he's experienced enough to make his own calls. Mike doesn't do offense but bringing back a 36 year old instead of Justin is nuts.
True. But what if he takes us deep in the playoffs? Hard to let him go. Problem? In a year or two we will be right back where we were. A retiring QB, and no one in the wings. And too many wins to get a good draft pick.
@@MrFreshEdition Arthur isn't legit why do you think with justin they ran the ball 100 times a game? Bc he wasn't willing to give him a chance to actually throw the damn ball and properly improve his passing.
I think you are right on, Jack. I don't think Russ will price himself off the team. He wants to stay in Pittsburgh and finish building his legacy with them. He'll accept a fair offer if it'll help retain and/or build the team. Justin will get picked up by a team where he can start and be paid fairly, as well.
I know the Steelers will resign Russell Wilson for a 3-year friendly deal and bring back Justin Fields as the backup QB on a two-year deal both are very comfortable in Pittsburgh. RW3 will start 2025 for the Steelers while Tutoring JF2 on how to become a better pure pocket QB. JF2 will be the Starter in 2026 for the Steelers.
Wilson has produced more but RW has played against both NY teams (world beating as they may) and a good commanders team. Not as clear cut as some are saying, IMO. Still a lot of season left.
My guess is no! I don't see the Steelers offering more than 5-7 million per year to Fields to backup Russel Wilson as most teams would see him as the backup as well. Fields might get 10 plus million per season and a chance to play for one of the really bad teams like the Raiders, Giants, Titans, Saints, Panthers, or maybe the Jets if Aaron Rodgers retires.
P pass, for now. We have only seen 3 games against one team I feel is a contender. If we surround Justin Fields with talent for half the contract as Wilson, that is a much better deal.
I can't stand most of my other fellow steelers fans sometimes, It's delusional to wanna bring the mid tier 36 year old QB back over the 25 year old with much higher potential and similar production currently.
Mid-tier? Russ is elite. Justin is mid at his absolute best. When he leaves the Steelers he will look the same on his next team as he did with the Bears. Less than average with a losing record. Young and average is not what the Steelers need.
Both, I mean is any team going to make Justin QB1 ? SO if he is going to be a QB2 then he may as well sign with the Steelers as far as any other team 🤔 😉
Justin is better than several QB1s out there. Someone is going to offer him a job. He'll decline and I really believe that he'll be out the league within 5 years unless he becomes a career backup QB.
RW + JF. Good for all parties. Justin Fields would get to learn under Russell Wilson. Situations like that can be uncomfortable for the understudy but work out well (Young/Montana; Favre/Rogers/Love). A team with a good defense like Pittsburg can make you look better than you are. For Wilson, Pittsburg is an ideal place to try to collect superbowl wins. Good defense, good coach, good rushing attack. None of the other teams great in those areas are looking for a quarterback. So if he wants to win it all, the best place is Pittsburg. I think Brady was smart to take a hometown discount because it let New England spend money on skill players and a line to protect Brady. But money can be an ego thing too. On the other hand, superbowl winners get boatloads of endorsements. So if I were Wilson and Fields, I would try to stay put. I am saying that as a Seattle Seahawks fan, who recognizes reality and who is still smarting to the loss to the Steelers in the Superbowl.
Russell's team is normally hardcore in contract negotiations, but it will be interesting to see what's most important to him at this point. The Steelers' defense is very expensive, and they earn every penny. They need Russ, and Russ needs them to get the ring. If Russ needs to take less money to get to the Superbowl, I hope he's open to it. But make no mistake, Russ is worth $40M a year and someone will offer it to him. Unless it's the Vikings he'd only be playing for money, not championships. Justin Fields is no one's future that has big goals. He's an awesome backup. There is no reason for him to stay with the Steelers when he can start on some team that's going nowhere.

Jayden Daniels is a rookie and Lamar is practically Justin's age and is working on his 3rd MVP. Justin doesn't have their talent and you can't teach it.
Russ beat Jayden and has beat Lamar several times.
@@Birdshu true. However, JD has a better coaching and better supporting cast. Plus came from a QBU in LSU and stayed an extra year. Lamar needed a few years to develop.
Justin never had what JD had until he came to the Steelers. UGA AND OSU dont develop QBs and Chicago was and still is a shit-show. However, he can develop into a better QB like Lamar has. Maybe not to that level. But close.
