  • In this video, I will show you how to tig weld big stainless steel sanitary tubing. There are not many videos on welding tubing larger than 4". This big stuff is not super common. I show you some of the tools I use and talk about thew process of purging and welding.

Been following you a while now - this is the first video where you showed most of the whole thing. THIS is the methodology you need to use. Nice video - thank you.

Doing that with lift arc is impressive I would need foot pedal to not fish eye. I weld Schedule 10 stainless at my job. That foot pedal is a life saver.

A 6in 3M radial bristle brush on a cordless drill would have made a night and day difference on a final blend, even out all the scuffing

I did a 6" 0.109" wall job not long ago and man i had a hard time melting that root. First weld i dis Where ferrule that I welded and the end of spool so customer accepted I fuse them from the inside too since I had the room. But for the next joint I ended up putting a bevel id helped a lot melting that root but i didnt put a fill pass. I wish I’ve seen that video before but it wasn’t online yet!!! Just the video I’ve been waiting for a long time. Not always easy I’m a one guy band I’m a welder but not a true PipeFitter but when I have the chance to weld stainless tube I always weld it to sanitary standard as a practice even not required. Thanks a lot for the video!!!

Yeah that's thick. Below 4 inch is .063 and above 4 up to I think 6 is .085. I've never done above 4 but I bet it's a way different learning curve

When you can’t get a tack to jump the gap alot of times you can tap the pipe with something like your wire brush or cutters and it’ll jump.

Why don’t you use a metal cutting bandsaw?
If it is a good quality machine you will have also a good straight cut.
At the end it will be cheaper than every time 165 bucks for only 4 cuts. If you can find on the other side of the pond some beam clamps M10,it’s a lot easier for holding your purge plate

Yeah that’s what I say too. I have a Wilton 9”x16” and a Rong Fu 9”x16” band saws. (Blade is 135” on one, and 142” on the other). If you take the time to adjust your bandsaw to cut straight, and use a blade with a high TPI count, you can make hundreds if not thousands of cuts into stainless steel. Straight, clean, accurate cuts. I do it all the time, as I do a lot of the same type of work this guy is doing here.
I can see where that saw he has would be good in the field though. But for shop work…the bandsaw.

I could not get my band saw to cut that as square as I needed plus I need to be able to cut that stuff on sight. I kept getting the band saw blade to walk about a blade width +-

@@DarlingtonFarm check your rollers from your bandsaw,if they move too much “wobbling ” that’s the reason from no straight cuts
      Or use ceramic saw guides
