That's why guys like Kobe, Iverson, and TMac who were able to a average 30 ppg during those years is so impressive. • @VictorFPoB
    @VictorFPoB 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Definitely the 2002-2003 season. It's his best all-round season. Averaged 30.0 (28.2 per 75) on +3.1 rTS% efficiency. He also actually was a great defender, unlike most of the years he didn't actually deserve the all-defensive selections, like 2006, where he got a first team all-defense selection despite being a literal minus on defense.
    Also Rusty, his 58 TS% season was in 2007, not 2006. And a player's most efficient season isn't decided by TS%, it's decided by rTS%, which is how much more efficient a player is compared to league average TS% that year.

  • @jsx7362
    @jsx7362 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    06-07 season is highly underrated. It’s his most efficient season, and they dropped 3 games from the year before due to Lamar Odums injuries.
    The 07 Lakers lost in 5 games those playoffs because Amar’e Stoudemire came back.Still Kobe put up 32.8 5.2 4.5 on vey efficient percentages from the field and FT.
    And in the 06 playoffs people always fail to bring up Kobe’s Herculean game 6 ,when he dropped 50 8 5. And was a defensive rebound away from advancing against Phoenix.
    Although Kobe quite in game 7 he was on pace of having another 50 point game, scoring 23 in the first half. And still down 17.He was really the only person that game who could get a bucket.

    2008 is probably my favorite Kobe year. His first true Mamba year. No disrespect but In 2013 he looked like he was on something. He was in serious decline the year before and seemed to have gained a step and was more explosive in 2013. He was also playing heavy minutes that year. It’s not surprising he tore his Achilles Tendon that year.

    With Kobe being my favorite player of all time, in my opinion, his best season was the 2009-2010 season. 27-5-5 stat line. The 6 game winners + all the other clutch/game clinching shots. Game 6 Phoenix fade-aways. His 5th championship. And topping Boston in the finals rematch. I’d go as far as saying that he could’ve (and probably should’ve) won MVP this season bailing the lakers out time and time again. Not saying LeBron shouldn’t have won or didn’t deserve it, but my vote would’ve gone to Kobe for this season.

      knicks fan exactly. Not taking anything away from Lebron, 66 wins in THAT year’s eastern conference was mightily impressive, especially with the 30-7-8 stat line he put up. But for Kobe battling injuries, the seemingly nonstop game winners and bailouts, and a still impressive stat line at 31, that would’ve been a great time to crown him a 2x MVP. Again, No discredit or hate toward Bron though. Just my opinion.

    Hello,
    Great analisys, as always.
    Would you considered to make another video about until when is the age of a basketball player prime and how long can mantain his prime in average?
    As you mentioned in the video, some player have been dominant at the age of 35, but that´s not the typical case.
    I think it may be a interesting video.

    Without even watching all the way thru, 2013. At least, it's my favorite. He was never better in a valiant effort that ultimately went nowhere. I mean, Magic Mamba? Kobe getting 10+ assists a game for a stretch, finally proving he could do what Bron did. Really makes you wonder...

    2009/10 was his version of Lebron’s 2018 performance. Still great numbers although their athleticism was slowly declining but their IQ had just reached such a high level where they knew exactly how to WIN basketball games.

    2005-06. This is a math problem, mostly, but virtually every great basketball player hits their peak at about age 27, and Kobe is no exception. Per 100 possessions, per 36 minutes, by PER and VORP. So by any measurable criteria, 2006 Kobe was his pinnacle.

      @@beast4338 I'm talking individually tho, he was a shoe free agent, 9 straight 40-point games, nasty dunks, bulked up, MJ last year & they were on the verge of a 4peat. I think if Horry would've made that 3 that rimmed in & out against the Spurs in game 5, the Lakers would've won that series & another ship

    For me Kobe’s best year was 2006 in my opinion just because of impact defense scoring and efficiency and his 81 point game and how he carried that sorry lakers team to the 7 seed I also think that 2003 is his second best year and I wouldn’t be mad if you said 2003 was his best year because in my opinion that was his best all around year and also in 2006 he took the mvp to seven game even though his roster was way worse and Kobe had a 50 point game explosion in game 6 and a game winner I think in game 4

  • @hibachiagent0249

    Great video. People don't talk enough about how the lakers didn't give kobe a good team from when Shaq left to when they got Gasol. If the lakers were a more competent organization Kobe could've got another ring or two. The Shaq trade was horrible.

    • @rustybuckets
      @rustybuckets  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      it really wasn't in the context of the time, Shaq at this point was injury prone, putting on the pounds, and about to be a free agent. Just had the worst season of his career. Caron Butler, Lamar Odom and picks, is a goodish return. they just didnt keep Butler, which was a mistake.
