    There woz no show like a Joe show . When u are a Galway supporter . Best player I’ve seen in my time playing for Galway. He will b dearly missed in Galway . What a lovely fella as well more importantly . Always humble.

    Excellent programme. I dont think i'd disagree with anything daignan or griffin said. As a Galway man it was pure magic growing up goin in to see Joe

    One of the greatest hurlers of his generation. Also a gentleman and a thoughtful man with his priorities in life right.

    Outrageous hurler. He was playing U21 for Portumna at 13.

    Liam Griffin nails it. Trying to name "the best" is a fools errand. Joe's definitely among the greatest w/out a doubt.

    Joe was one of those hurlers u want to get the ball. Only a handful of those about. John Troy another. Austin Gleeson as well. Limerick , Kilkenny , Tipp , Cork , Clare have all great hurlers but no Joe Canning.

    Love hearing Cyril Farrell’s commentary, a great reader of the game and a successful manager for Galway hurling. What I most like about him like my own Galway father haven’t forgotten their Galway accent!

      I'm Galway West, and I can't understand him at times, he talks too fast...so I know people from other counties are like, Ha, Ha, what did he say now...? He's a great tactician, and reader of the game though...!

  • @sherp2u1
    @sherp2u1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Galway won't see another Canning for a while, the last one was Eugene Cloonan, so it's one every 20 years or so...We're not KK/Tipp, we can't mass produce stars like they do, for some reason, maybe, becasue we're a dual country, and football takes over half the county...?

      How come ye do so well underage and not bring that to senior?

    • @sherp2u1
      @sherp2u1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@oppamaclare That's the 10,000 Euro question, that has dogged Galway down thru the years...it used be immigration, but that's over, smart men in the GAA club/county scene, don't have an answer either...maybe it's the drunk and the Galway girls...LOL" It's frustrating though!

    Not fit to lace Henry's boots, pity he broke the record.

      No place for that. I'm a diehard Kilkenny fan but your comment is pathetic. Wishing Joe all the best.

      Henry was exceptional, but if Canning had the team, Henry had around him, he would have probably bagged 4 All Ireland medals...!

    • @seancrowe8488
      @seancrowe8488 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@sherp2u1 Spot on. Henry had stars all around him. Remember Joe in 2008 in Thurles against Cork scoring 2-12 of Galway's total of 2-15. He carried that Galway team that evening at age 19.

    • @sherp2u1
      @sherp2u1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@seancrowe8488 He sure did, and took on the rock physically and many a grown man was afraid of the Rock...! he carried that team for the next 10 years off and on, if ye ask me, forwards came and went, they were all supposed to take the pressure off and step up, but none of them could be really relied on...Whelan/Mannion/Flynn/Glynn/Donnellan/Cooney/Maloney...they were never consistent...

      Joe Canning is on par with King Henry who had way better teams mates that Canning had down the years...no disrespect to Galway But Henry was not even the best Kilkenny ever had ......that goes to TJ Ried
