If you're looking for ideas to fill your journals and notebooks I am sharing a journal flip through to show how I fill mine. My journals are often messy but each one has a purpose. I use one journal as a writing bullet journal to track and log my writing and creative projects. I use another to plan my writing and creative tasks. And others to write essays and scripts and some simply to journal and to free up space in my head.

My name is Helen Redfern and I create TH-cam videos about my writing projects (which includes fiction and non-fiction), my notebook planners and my writing bullet journal.
I love creating videos but writing is my first love. I have a blog, a weekly newsletter called Journal Notes where I share excerpts from my journal about writing and creating online and I write Patreon essays about writing, creativity and confidence.

I love the simplicity of thought journals. Other videos are very intimidating. Thank you!
You are such an inspiration! Thank you for sharing your notebooks. I also understand the necessity for compartmentalizing ideas and plans. I have separate planners for work, personal, and writing as well as notebooks for brainstorming ideas and to do lists for my writing project. Great video!
Thank you so much Helenita!
The writing of the script is like pre-filming. Once it is on the page, its purpose is fulfilled, because then you know what you're going to do. ^_^
I love the Leuchtturm-notebooks a lot, too. They are pricey, but they are worth every penny for me.
And once again, thank you for this lovely video. So many pretty notebooks!...
Funnily enough when I was editing this video it occurred to me I still needed to write the script even if I didn’t refer to it much. I do like your description! And thank you!
I enjoyed this video❤️it gave me some great ideas on how to use my writing notebooks
I loved this! Just seeing your notebook collection makes me want to take up my pen. 🥰
Do you keep your old notebooks? How do you store them, if you do?
Thanks Eva! Yes I do...they’re on an ikea shelving unit in my office. Not in any order at all!
I totally understand the need for separate notebooks to keep track of daily tasks. I do the same thing.
Separating everything has been a game changer for me!
If I can just get past all the silly things that hold me back from putting my pen to my paper, just maybe I’ll be able to journal.
Hiya - what sort of ‘silly’ things do you think hold you back? I used to worry about other people reading mine.
Helen Redfern I definitely think that’s one of them. My bad handwriting, making mistakes, and not being able to construct super intellectual sentences are other things. I can’t help but feel the need to to write for other people to read it. Does that make sense? I can easily forget that journaling is journey.
This makes total sense. I was similar until I gave myself permission to write imperfectly. And I swear the process has changed my writing and my business. You know when they say there’s no stupid idea or no stupid question? Well, that’s how I treat my journal. Write all the stuff my brain might be saying is stupid but I put it in my journal and that’s how I get ideas and grow.
Helen Redfern love this Helen! Thanks for passing along the tip!
