Yngwie's 1984 debut album "Rising Force" was nominated for a grammy (best instrumental performance) and should have won, but didn't. No matter..Yngwie's place in guitar history is secure.
I agree 100%. Yngwie has never played better. His playing is awesome on Spellbound. I just picked up Spellbound(Yngwie's latest) and I've been listening to it for the last couple of days, and I must say Yngwie's playing has never been better. His technique is unbelievable on Spellbound. His accuracy, tone, and vibrato is second to none. He still plays with great passion and fire. Cheers!
I have to respectfully disagree. And yes, I am a huge Yngwie fan. I also have been playing guitar for 20 years...so I think I have the background to critique and comment on his recent efforts. In a couple of words...they suck. He still is an amazing guitarist. But things have been down-hill since "War to End all Wars". His latest album is a muddy mess of a recording, and everything is way too compressed. His best work was with Alcatrazz and his first 6 solo albums.
One of the greatest guitar player ever and he has never won a Grammy, my GOD I really HATE those awards, but of course Milly Vanilly won more than once, I REST MY CASE!!!
Ya,THAT BLEW MY MIND that Yngwie didn't get it! He definitely should have with a composition like Far Beyond The Sun. Do you remember WHO actually got it back then? I don't remember I was so mad. The whole Rising Force album was awesome. Nothing compared to it. Nothing.
I don't remember who won. You could google it. I don't think Yngwie will ever top that first album. Although I like all his work, that first album cannot be matched in terms of technical ability, melodic content, and originality. Nothing like it had ever been heard before.
Simply put, Spellbound is Yngwie's greatest work of an incredible career! I have a hard time listening to the older albums now, because his attack and precision have never been as clear and fluid as they are on this latest release. It is leagues above the others. Yngwie, you always set the bar high, and you have raised it once again. Can't wait for the tour. Thanks for posting this short but nice interview.
Terrible interview... next time have someone with some perspective ask the right questions to pay tribute to the man who has inspired so many to play fast and LOUD!

Glad to see a real guitar legend on a mainstream channel.

Good interview! The Interviewer is right, Yngwie should win a grammy one of these days.
Also, is Yngwie's neck bleeding!?
Probably a nick from shaving that he tried to patch up with jelly.
looks like the Great Kat got to Yngwie after the show lol

Yngwie not winning a grammy, WHY? those awards are totally rigged anyway, one word, PAYOLA!
So a fan of his can't make up their own mind? Am I not a fan because I prefer his older albums compared to the newer ones?
The first album was incredible. And of course he's still a great guitarist and composer.
Wow, that's quite a story. He's the man!!! He definitely has proven that.
Cool interviewer for recognizing and giving this legend some face time.
Did anyone notice the red blood stain on the neck?

Is he really bleeding lol? Nice to see yngwie getting more press time then riff raff and Steve Aoki
We saw Yngwie 4/28/13 in Pittsburgh and he was awesome!
He looks a little pale, usually got that Miami tan going on. Whats the deal with his neck bleeding? Shaved in the limo on the way over? lol
He deserved a grammy but they want pop songs to win smh
is he had blood in his neck?
