Hello, just a response to comments about spelling. Today, “Romania” is the proper spelling of the country referenced in the film. However, at the time the film was made, the common spelling in English for this country was in fact “Rumania”. “Romania” only became common in the 1970s.
I am sorry, but many people call us Rumanians and our country Rumania(check Spain, Germany, Russia, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Italy, France etc.). This is how we used to call ourselves as well, but some of us decided to adopt the Roman Empire name. Somehow we are in rights to do so, to call ourselves Romanians, and our country, Romania. Personally I don't see any problem with any of these names for our people and our country.
to motanelustelistu: Very good your commentary. The whole Hohenzolern German dynasty was a blessing for Romania, except, maybe, Carol the second, King Michael's father. Very serious and loyal to Romania's political and economical interests, this dynasty made Romania an independent state through Carol the first in 1877, then unified it after the First World war under Ferdinand, and kept afloat through difficult times by Carol the second. Carol the Second reign should be judged by Historians, and it is indeed disputable. However, King Michael was so serious and courageous for his young age that it would have been expected to be a very good and glorious King. Unfortunately, Romania, alongside the whole Eastern Europe was sold to Stalin by Churchill and Roosevelt, the "great" leaders of British Empire and U.S. We, East Europeans (except Russians) continue to "thank" you, British and American people, for doing this... At least you, British people, could've helped a little more our King Michael, and not let him do "survival" type jobs, such as this one, "market gardener". After all, our King Michael had and has more class than the whole British aristocracy combined... He never complained and stoically accepted his undeserved fate due to the British and American betrayal. I have no doubt that King Michael of Romania will be a revered figure by the future generations of Historians and hated by all Romanian Communists and Comminternists, and their descendants... Long Live the King Michael of Romania, and hopefully, one day his dynasty will be restored (through his grandsons) !
Ferdinand was the first traitor of the Reich, also of the Hohenzollern Dinasty, then his nephew, Rascally I was even more than his ancestor (Mișel I in romanian) .

Ayot house is actually Upton House near Poole, Dorset. Lady Llewelyn rented it to King Carol II as somewhere to live. King Carol allowed the building to deteriorate into a run down state and in the 1970's, Poole Borough Council, who had taken over ownership from Lady Llewelyn, evicted King Carol II in order to save the building. The Friends of Upton House was founded and eventually, by the 1990's the house & grounds has been restored as a public country park (Upton Country Park), which my house backs onto.
Confusing commentary because actually King Carol the second was dead from 1953. The king interviewed in this clip is Mihai the first. What I see are two women planting and what I heard is the royal couple sold eggs from his farm. Remarkably the king by the end live enough to see communist regime collapse.
