I feel like I’m facing the dead end of my current professional career and the idea of pursuing the masters is my only way of pushing thru. I have this thought of what if I still feel lost even after I completed the degree. I have what if’s and some of those are answered in this video. Hi! Just wanted to say thank you for the insight. I was a Environmental Engineering student, and went there by my own research and will. Given that I got a high score in the test to join university in my country I could possibly join any career here. Some of my friends joined some other more recognized careers and, lovingly, tried to push me away to "harder or better" careers. After some time I moved to medicine. And Im almost done with it. Even so, it has been sadly hard, because I have not had this life long dream of being a doctor, and given some triggers Ive found on they way, has deepend some mental ilness wich a thought were gone. After all, even I cant know for sure, Im pretty secure that I would hace feel pretty more confident in the Environmental Engineer path, si Im happy for you spreading awarenes about this career!
We reciprocate Randy!People here think environmental career just as someone who cleans up everything,and sad to see people thinking cleaning jobs are low grade.People will never take Environment word seriously coz they have been living on it for decades and they are just too present to respect.Omnipresent things as you know.Hope climate change scraps this thought in all.

This is exactly what my indian Parents say they don't want me to go into this field they are afraid I'm not going to get a job but I want to do it all my life I only thought about it but coming from a middle class family I can't risk my life but I also want to do it if that makes sense but yeah

I want to pursue environmental engineering and I'm hoping to be able to complete some classes at a community college before transferring over to a university. but I've been having doubts because I graduated as an average student. Is this realistic for me?
Hi Ruth, It all depends on you and your drive. Try taking the prerequisite classes like the math and science classes at community college and see if you're successful. To get the Bachelors degree, you'll need to pass those classes.
I'm 20, I can relate to feeling like an average student. I've been mentally checked out of school for about 4 years, finally deciding on going back I'm a bit intimidated by science and choosing a field I'm not strong in :/ but I am passionate about the preservation of our environment. I'm a mechanical engineer with experience in a job that entailed more of business development and project management. I want to make a switch and do my masters in Environmental engineering. Is that a good choice? and what does the course entail, is there a lot of Chemistry involved? Because I don't have any previous experience in that.
If you switch to Env Engineering, there will be a lot of Math and some general Chemistry. It is geared towards science and civil engineering, so expect some catching up. Whether or not it is a good choice depends on you and if you are up to the challenge.

After discovering your channel and doing my own digging, I realized that environmental engineering aligns with my core values and I would love to pursue a masters in it. However, my degree was in Poli-Sci and I have struggled with stem classes before usually chem and stats. Do you have any advice on how I should go about pursuing an environmental engineering degree? Hi Temesgen, I won't sugar coat it. It's going to be difficult jumping into this field coming from a different background. To acquire the degree, you'll have to take the necessary prerequisites that your university requires. Community college is a good start because classes are affordable and you'll know exactly what you need based off of whichever university you hope to transfer to get the Env Eng degree.
Im a freshmen in college working towards my engineering degree I do want to become an environmental engineer do you have any tips for working my way through college? For the engineering degree I need calculus 1 and 2 and I’m already good in math
International students usually have a harder time finding a job because they may require a VISA to work while people born the the US don't need a VISA. It is up to the company to provide a sponsorship and some don't.
It all depends on the opportunity and benefits of switching. Obviously, if it doesn't make sense to switch, I wouldn't. I honestly wouldn't know what other title/position can make use of an environmental engineer besides like just being a Sr Env Eng or city manager.

I would recommend environmental engineering. It is more flexible and engineering covers most of what environmental scientists do. Plus, you get paid more with an engineering degree.

Each country has their own ups and downs and some countries take the environment more serious than others. Since I'm based in the US, I have a bias opinion towards them. I don't have the necessary experience from other countries to say if they are better than the US, although I believe in Europe they are more serious than the US. Looking through an entire list of possible universities for all countries is too much work for me. Interested students will have already gone through the research to see what best works for them and their situation. Family, money, and location are all significant factors that play a role in their decision so it's hard to say that this one university is a must. I went to UC Irvine for my Masters in Env Eng.

I never said I hated my job. I make those contradictory videos, so people can see the full spectrum of this field. I don't want to sugar-coat or hide anything about this field and have people think this is the best field for them to go in. They have to know both the good and bad before they make a commitment.

If you want to secure a job, you'd have to move to a place that has job openings for environmental engineering. Most of my graduate classmates came from other countries and into the US because they knew they'd have a much easier time finding an environmental engineer major and job here compared to their home country. After they graduated, they were able to stay in the US because they found a job here. I don't want to push you to do anything because there are a lot of factors that go into deciding if you should study abroad such as costs, family, and whether you can even get into the school.
