Happy Monday! I hope you enjoy this video. I really like how this pendant turned out. I need to make more coils for sure! Really fun to make! Have a great week and happy Valentine’s day! 💜
Thank you for this! Can I ask what you have around your left hand? I have severe arthritis right in my lower thumbs, mostly from crocheting my whole life, and I was just wondering if it would help me. You seem to like it as you wear it all the time and it looks comfortable. 😊
@@farrenrohana yes! I have severe arthritis in my left CMC joint and the occupational therapist made me a splint which helps when I’m working on stuff. I also wear these as well. @@ZurickDesigns no, I had no idea it was an option but I wouldn't do it anyway. I just had to have emergency surgery in Dec for a 14mm kidney stone and I've had several surgeries in my life prior to it. The recuperation time from the anesthesia, and pain meds, even the IV, is just awful and my body just can't take it anymore. They put a small stint in my back into my kidney before the surgery and the doctor must have knicked an artery because it caused a hematoma, (bleeding internally), it was as big as a football before they realized why I was in so much pain and took me for surgery. People say that kidney stones are the most painful, equalling them to giving birth, which I have done twice, and I'm telling you neither compared to the pain from that hematoma! It was so insane and they didn't believe me. All I could do was pray and ask God to put me to sleep and thankfully He did, I kept passing out. I had no other way of coping with it. I'm not afraid of dying so I don't care about putting up with every day pain anymore even if it's cancer, I just can't do the surgery thing again. If you had asked me even after my 4th or 5th I would have said something completely different. I've had 8 now. Also, I'm in Canada and our whole health care system is a total mess so that's a huge factor for me too. I was in the hospital for 5 days and no one changed my bed or helped me start walking so I was up on my feet before going home and no shower because the room was ice cold. The nurses were wonderful but they are so few they are literally running their butts off the whole time. It's really awful. Thankfully I live in Alberta and our Premier is actually doing something but it's taking a lot of time. Sorry about all the negativity but I have to be honest. Thanks for the info and link I'll look into it. We do have good OT people here so I could probably get some help with a splint like you have. Thank you so much for letting me know.
I used to make jewelry twenty years ago then my husband had a brain injury and i became a 24/7 caregiver. After his passing last year I didn't do anything for several months, it's so hard to spend every minute together for thirteen years and then he was gone. Not whining, just a little background. I started watching TH-cam and discovered Zurick Designs. You've helped me start back with my wire jewelry. It was hard at first but you are always making beautiful jewelry and I'm learning so much from you. Thank you
I know your pain. Heartfelt condolences for the loss of your husband. I used my papercrafting to bring me back from the loss of my parents four years apart. Daddy's loss was the one that I thought I would not survive cuz he was our rock in time of need. He used to remind me that I had to take care of my husband who suffered from brain bleeds (not known until they led to a seizure) with subsequent short term memory loss. No tx, no cure. My journey back has been rocky cuz I suddenly realized I was aging and began to suffer from "Old Lady Retired RN Ailments. Somehow I got led back to Yvonne Williams (chainmaille days) which led me to Melissa Zurick Designs. I was hooked on wire again but in a different way. I too am thankful for her "healing" abilities. You never know when God sends you an angel.
This is absolutely the truth. It is hard to find coaches that truly encapsulates what the word means. She doesn’t just tell us, she shows us. And never complains when someone asks a question that she had just spent 10 minutes explaining to us. But most of all she has a talent to share with the world. I just want to know if she ever gets frustrated because the wire has a mind of its own, says an ugly word and throws it in the drawer to be dealt with later. Susan, you are loved and appreciated.
I seriously know how you feel With my husband it was 24/7 for 40 years. When he died….i have never felt such deep, deep grief. You watch out for you…stay busy Above all else, it may be hard to smile but Have Fun!
I thank you for making tutorials because my brain does not easily understand everybody Karma but my brain understands you so I thank you for that I also thank you for coming out of your shell and doing what you love in front of us so we can learn new things. I appreciate you❤
Thank you so much for this video Melissa,I’ve got some labradorite hearts, and had no ideas what to do with them. Your heart pendant is beautiful, and you have inspired me to do something with my hearts x❤
Thanks so much for showing how to add coils to a piece, I've watched a lot of video's showing how to make them but then what do I do with them after they are made. I'm a newbie so its great to see how they are used when completed
Love the way you show this. It’s not a do this do this. It’s great learning video for me. I am learning and I love to see techniques not to just copy a piece. I hate copying I wanna make it my own.
So I have this odd shaped of labradorite thats rather thick like the heart in this video, and I have been trying to figure out what I'm going to do with it. Watching the way you outlined that cab gave me an awesome idea...Yes, indeed I learned something!!! Thanks for this tutorial :) Oh and your final piece is quite stunning; love that labradorite ♥👍😎
A Really Gorgouse Design, i like it so much, this coil technique and this lovely shaped frame, make it a real winner, in my eyes, and it looks, so appealing, what a lovely heart shape, Beautiful, work, i admire your work, your channel is great and so packed, with, creativity and inspirational idea"s, thank you so much for making this wonderful piece and awesome, video. you make TH-cam even better, and i really appreciate your talent and your skills. wire enthusiast, your subscriber-Laura in Uk
I love the tiny coils and that was a great place for them. I thought you should have stopped st the coils , but the extra framing piece finished it off. The beads were a nice touch. Thanks for sharing your talent and your story. 😊
I loved the Copper with the Lab, although I appreciate the skill and work I disliked the piece after oxidation. That's to each, his own tho. I was about to like then the squint and snide remark came out and I took offense. I love the design and think a 24g may complete it where it seems bare between large coil and stone. I do like how the frame wire was utilized to frame the front of the heart.
I have one more comment and another question, please. I went back to your video and noticed the use of fishing swivels on the end of the heavier wire, that is also brilliant. What a wonderful idea. You don’t show The other end of this assembly after you affix the wires to the drill. How and to what do you attach the drill to make it remain stationary? Do you have photo of the assembled device. I can’t wait to try out this method.
Thank you so much for sharing your creativity and your tutorials would you make that you're beautiful designs. May I ask what you use to Anchor the other side of the wire not the drill part but the one that swivels The Wire?
Thanks for the wirejewelry website. I hadn’t heard of that one. Love your heart design! Thanks. Hint: the music is so loud and distracting, not calming.
This is so, SOOOO BEAUTIFUL!! THANK YOU SOO MUCH!! I'm soooooo sorry - I have two[-ish] questions for you about this design....~~> #1 Would this work for a puffy and/ or a faceted [on both sides] Swarovski crystal heart? ....&.... #2 Why did you bend the base of the bail wires [right at the cleave of the larger frame wire ~ err right after the rounded slopes of the heart] towards the front instead of leaving them right next to eachother or bending then on the front onto themselves while bending them upwards? 💜💙💜🐾🤙🏻🐾💜💙💜 Aloha & Mahalo Nui Loa!!
Melissa, this video was q game changer for me and those double coils. Also that frame is versatile for other shapes. I will, undoubtedly watch many times over. I left you a tribute in a reply to @joycehock5366. TU always,

Aloha & Mahalo Nui Loa!!
I’m sure you can figure out how to do a reversible pendant 👍🏻
I’m not sure what you’re asking for #2
❤️
How do you oxidize the copper wire?
I use liver of sulfur chips
May I ask how much would this labradorite necklace sell for * not including a chain- just the pendant?
I made a dead bead necklace for it and it’s $75
😊👍🏼
☺️
Would .999 silver be adequate for this project?
I don’t see why not!
🥰👍
