Perfect! I have a black shirt that got messed up at work with bleach and I've been wanting to do this to help the bleach look intended but I was worried about the graphic design being ruined
What a crafty babe you are! I love how the Sublime tee came out! So cool with the sun and spiral pattern. Where did you get the Nirvana tee? I have to get one😍
Thanks, Yvonne! I got them all at Kohls! Here's the Nirvana one - links to all of them are in the description box. They're buy-1-get-1-half-off right now - go.magik.ly/ml/a0hn/
Totally Cool!! I love tie-dye! When I was a teenager, I would first tie-dye/dip dye my shirts, then with a pencil eraser dipped in bleach draw/dab designs or words onto the dyed areas. It was so much fun to do but breathing in all that bleach not so much. LOL!
I think for colors you'd need to actually dye with colors, since the bleach is only going to reveal whatever color is beneath the color that was dyed into the fabric. It's not adding any color but instead removing color.
I have a question... I have a sweatshirt with a big screen printed Lola bunny on it, it’s pink and I want to bleach it like you did... the graphic would fade, ruin, bleach? Cause I want the graphic to be intact... what would you recommend? Did I explained myself clear? 😅 English it’s not my native language, sorry about that! Loved your cats by the way and you’re so sweet ☺️
Hi Konnie! Bleach will probably distort or fade the screen printed color, unfortunately. If you're going for a distressed or aged look, it could look cool, but I doubt the bunny will stay the same as before the bleaching.
Would I be able to put color dye over the bleach? Like after you leave it and let it change colors but before removing the rubber bands? I’m afraid if I undo the rubber bands and then wash, I won’t be able to tie it back the same way again to add color. Could I maybe rinse it while leaving it tied up?
I'm guessing that the bleach still being in the fabric would affect the color of the dye if they were applied at the same time. Rinsing while the shirt is banded probably won't get all of the bleach out - but it might get enough out that the dye would still work. Another thing to think about is whether the dye has to go on dry fabric (since once it's rinsed it'll be wet and probably won't dry very well while rubber banded). If your dye works on wet fabric I think it'd be worth a shot doing bleach, then rinse it while still banded, then apply the dye.
Geek Out of Water thank you! I was having the same thought process that maybe the bleach will remove the color if applied on top but it was one of those silly DIY videos you see on Instagram that are usually full of shit 😂 I wish I had more trial black t shirts. I believe the dye i have is for damp shirts so I think I might just bleach, wash, and re tie with rubber bands as similarly as possible and add color dye.
Yesss Shelly! 🤩 I love em all! Great job! Thanks for teaching us! I'm so doing this with my 2 Daughters!❤️ The sublime 1 😍 Although they are all truly great!!
I use the bleach undiluted with no water added. I haven't tried on a damped shirt yet but that actually sounds like it could be a lot of fun! I need to try that!
I wrapped the shirt like a pinwheel and put the rubber bands on like pizza slices, and did the bleach on the alternate wedges. I soaked the wedges more fully, and on both sides, on the GnR one.
Is there a way you could do a pattern of Yoshi?? Like even just the outline or something ? I know that may be hard but is it possible? I wanna make one for my bf and his nickname is Yosh (yoshi) and would love to make that for him
I think you could! I would try marking off the outline of your design with masking tape and then keep the bleach inside the design. You'd have to be more careful than this demo (since this is more random patterns) but I think it would work!
I know how to do this but Ima watch anyway because I wish we were friend in real life haha 😉 And now that I see that you are a G n R fan I feel we should be friends even more!
LOL most of the time TH-cam just makes me bummed that everybody lives so far away! :-D I corrupted 2 of my younger cousins with GnR. Appetite came out when I was in 8th grade and that summer, I babysat my cousins all day during the week (and played it nonstop). They complained and complained and complained - and then in the fall when they went back to Florida, a few weeks later they called and asked if I could make them a tape of it and send it down there :-D We still laugh about that summer. They're grown with teenagers now... oy how does that happen??!!
Geek Out of Water My brother got that album the summer it released when we were in Disney Land and I was 5 years old blasting it on my Teddy Ruxpin any time he let me borrow it because that is all I had to listen to it on! 😂 He eventually made me a copy along with Lies and Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet 🤘 Three classic 80's rock anthem albums for sure!
This is really neat and I'm definitely going to try it out! I think the Goonies shirt is my favourite of all. Have you tried this on other coloured shirts? I might try a navy blue one :)
Fun video - brings back memories of me and my bestie (who I also shared a house with for a chunk of the 90s) tie dying and dip dying (coloured fabric dye not bleach though) tonnes of cheesecloth babydoll dresses when they were the big thing (well here they were anyway) in the early 90s. Also... holy-snapping-duckshit I love your eye makeup look here!! And the colour of your foundation (which one was it?).
LOL of course I didn't write down my makeup that day but I think think think it was the same day I filmed the Karity colorful smoky eye tutorial that will go up on Wednesday :)
I have a question I bleached words into my shirt, and want to do this but don’t want to get it in the words cause you won’t be able to read it how do I do it?
I haven't tried this, but I'm wondering if it would work to tape over the words on both the inside and outside of the fabric. I think you'd still have to be very careful because bleach could seep past the tape from the sides, but if you don't get bleach too close to the tape, it would at least block it from going directly over the letters.
Each one is shown in the demo. The Sublime tee was a radial twist. The Nirvana shirt was a triangle fold. The Goonies shirt was longways like a hot dog.
Your cats are adorable - the one trying to steal an elastic reminds me of my MizBrit (white long hair). She LOVES when you flick them across the room. My other, Twoxten, enjoyed it but I lost him earlier in the year due to complications of diabetes - he was 13. Then, my rescue doggo Emma who rules my world! i.imgur.com/cIJ7UWG.jpg The Sublime shirt was awesome!
Fur babies are the best!! I can spend all the money in the world on cat toys, and all they really want are my empty amazon boxes, hair ties, and milk rings.
Hi Eddy! Bleach on white should just brighten the areas you apply it to, so you might be able to use the same technique on a white shirt. I'm not sure I'm picturing what you mean.
Hello! I don't sell the t-shirts (just make them for fun) but I highly recommend Tie Dye Dan - he's based in my local city and does amazing tie dyes! www.tiedyedan.com/
“First you need a three legged cat.” 😂
😺😺😺
These came out so good! I’ve been trying to find an attractive bleach tie dye and this is it
Thanks, Gypsy!
Tip: You can assume the colour of the shirt after bleaching by the fabric that it's made out of, cotton makes a whiter shade
With every video, I fall more in love with Daffy!
The cats little paw is everything
After bleach dying, if you wanted to add a pop of color to the bleached sections, would you be able to just add rit dye?
I haven't tried that but I see no reason why it wouldn't work! =D
Perfect! I have a black shirt that got messed up at work with bleach and I've been wanting to do this to help the bleach look intended but I was worried about the graphic design being ruined
So far any designed shirts I've used have maintained the design! =D

Petition to start a Daffy fan club?? I think yes! go off!
😸😸😸
Something is wrong with your tub. It's clean.
LOL I have an amazing cleaning person!! :-D
Even more relatable in 2020.
Totally Cool!! I love tie-dye! When I was a teenager, I would first tie-dye/dip dye my shirts, then with a pencil eraser dipped in bleach draw/dab designs or words onto the dyed areas. It was so much fun to do but breathing in all that bleach not so much. LOL!
LOL I don't even want to think of all of the fumes I breathed as a child, tie dying and spray painting everything I could!
Oh yeah....forgot about all the spray paint! LOL!
How did you do the one with the cat batman?! It looks soo good!!!
For that one I did the same twirl wrap up but I soaked every 3rd triangle instead of every other one.
Geek Out of Water thank you so much!!! My new quarantine activity is bleaching everything I own lol
On the swirl method how many rubber bands should you use to get the effect on the Bat-Cat Tee?
Hi. Is it possible to have a coloured bleach tie dye?
I think for colors you'd need to actually dye with colors, since the bleach is only going to reveal whatever color is beneath the color that was dyed into the fabric. It's not adding any color but instead removing color.
Loved this style of video! Nice change ❤❤😎
Thanks!!

Geek Out of Water thanks a lot! You really helped a lot! Love and kisses!
DUDE OMG I HAVE THE EXACT SAME SHIRT AND CAME TO THE VIDEO TO MAKE THE EXACT SAME THING AS YOU LMAO
Just binging on some Geek, I love that Guns and Roses shirt!!!
I’m just geeked bc I have the Guns & Roses shirt, Sublime shirt, and Goonies shirt 😂 and a different nirvana one bahahah
Yesssssss :-D
Where do you buy tshirts like this? I love them all!!
Do you add water to the bleach? If so, what’s the ratio? Thank you.
Hi Hillary! I don't add water to the bleach. 😀
Amazing! this looks so fun, I can't wait to try it. Thanks for sharing. 😊
How did you find the cat batman shirt? I must have missed it in the beginning but I love how it came out.
I did the same 6-wedge spiral but was very careful not to seep any over the lines - also a Kohl's tshirt!
Alright. Thank you!!
Wow this was so awesome. Excellent tip 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼.

This was really fun to watch. I follow this one guy on IG because I really like his tie-dye work & he's a rock hound too so double bonus.
Ooooh who? I love tie-dye. I marvel at the stuff some people can do!!
Geek Out of Water I sent it to you on IG so it'd be easier for you. 😊
Did you wet the shirts before bleaching?
Hello! I did not wet them before applying the bleach, though I had previously laundered and dried them.
This is so cool! My hubby has a bunch of color the dye Grateful Dead shirts. I will have to give it a try🌺🌺🌺
Yesss Shelly! 🤩 I love em all! Great job! Thanks for teaching us! I'm so doing this with my 2 Daughters!❤️ The sublime 1 😍 Although they are all truly great!!
It's so much fun!! and if it's warm where you are, it's also a fun yard activity to rinse them down with hoses =D
(the shirts that is... well maybe the kiddos too!) 😂
Is that 100% bleach or do you ad water to it. I’ve seen people dampen the shirts first, did you ever try that method?
I use the bleach undiluted with no water added. I haven't tried on a damped shirt yet but that actually sounds like it could be a lot of fun! I need to try that!
loved all of the shirts! and your cats are so cute how they always wanted to be part of the video :-)
They always steal the show 😹😂😹
Neat! I haven't tie dyed anything since I was a kid. I'm DEFINATLEY going to do this soon.
It's a fun throwback :-D and not as messy with bleach... though I did buy a regular colored tie dye kit after this! Haven't used it yet.
what technique you used for the guns one? it looks amazing i want that design
I wrapped the shirt like a pinwheel and put the rubber bands on like pizza slices, and did the bleach on the alternate wedges. I soaked the wedges more fully, and on both sides, on the GnR one.

I love how the Nirvana and the Cat Woman ones turned out 👏👌 The Goonies is dope too!🤘

Three classic 80's rock anthem albums for sure!
Teddy Ruxpin singing GnR is pretty much the best thing I've heard in a long time.
The Goonies one is my favorite!
Goonies never say die!!
Fun! I really liked the triangle fold one.
Loved this video. Very fun and creative
Thanks! It's always fun to see how they turn out :-D
Those are some of the strongest hair ties I’ve ever seen
Will Amonia work like bleach ?
I've never tried it with ammonia - my guess is that bleach would work better.
This is really neat and I'm definitely going to try it out! I think the Goonies shirt is my favourite of all. Have you tried this on other coloured shirts? I might try a navy blue one :)
I have! My navy blue one had gray as the bleach areas :) That's the only other color I've done.
Will this ruin the logo on my shirt?
It might change the color of the logo but I haven't had bleach do anything else to the logos on my shirts.
Bat-Cat.... lol , wins in our house... we love it!!!!
Love this! Sublime definitely my fav! Thanks Shelly!
I have a question I bleached words into my shirt, and want to do this but don’t want to get it in the words cause you won’t be able to read it how do I do it?

@@goow yea my sister told me to use tape and I’m doing it rn so I’ll let you know when it’s done:)
Very cool! I’ll try this with my kiddos.
So good
How did you keep the bleach from rotting the shirt. Shirt I did disintegrated
You should be mixing half water half bleach.
Diluting may help. I haven't had that problem yet.
So cool!!
Kitty helper game is strong 🥰
😹😹😹
Your eyes look lovely here!!😍
Just beginning the video & wanted to say that!! 😁😂😘
Thanks, Mary!!
Not a cat person. But love the cat!!
THANKS
hi, shelly! at the risk of dating myself - far out! thanks for sharing! ~k
LOL thanks, Karen!
Maravilhosas!
What technique was used for the Batman cat shirt?
Hi Emma! I folded it the same as the first Sublime shirt, but put the bleach all over instead of opposite wedges.
Geek Out of Water hello! thanks so much getting back to me. I’m going to try this out. They all look fantastic 😃
Which fold is which dye result? I watched the whole video and you didn’t say 😭
Each one is shown in the demo. The Sublime tee was a radial twist. The Nirvana shirt was a triangle fold. The Goonies shirt was longways like a hot dog.
Why didn’t the swirl come out?
It's usually rubber bands that aren't tight enough. I was using hair ties since it was all I had around.
Your cats are adorable - the one trying to steal an elastic reminds me of my MizBrit (white long hair). She LOVES when you flick them across the room. 😹😹😹Cats optional!
Dear Geek: How can I dye a white t-shirt just pure white, not the funny colors to look like rags?
Hi Eddy! Bleach on white should just brighten the areas you apply it to, so you might be able to use the same technique on a white shirt. I'm not sure I'm picturing what you mean.
@@goow Dear Geek: I want to apply it to the *whole* shirt to get the dinginess out and give it that almost new white. How can this be done?
I like to buy from you
