I own this scope and love it. FPL-53 goasw with a Strehl of .980 and really nice hardware. This was a little higher price point than some of the Askar lines but less than something like an Esprit

See I can make Tyler wear a collared shirt! Give him a thumbs up for putting up with my demands LOL - todays video was a bit delayed while we sorted some technical issues with Tylers recording setup and thanks to Shawn @visibledarkastro for help processing Tyler's data so I could get the video out in good time!

LOL, At least he wasn't wearing his Parka. It's down right cold where he is.

Nice review. Seeing a close up of the different parts you were talking about would have been useful, especially for a beginner, which I think this review is intended for. For eg, i am still trying to understand what the arca swiss connection is for and how the Asiair can connect.

the arca swiss is a vixen style connection used in the photography world - you can see it on the handle its just a fancy Vixen bar :)

Are there any scopes that actually have tick marks on the included rotators. Would be nice to see manufactures start putting them on.

@@anata5127 It does, how ever when i use my Askar, I'm having to keep going back and forth to look at the coputer to see how much to move. Would be nice to have guide marks so you know how far you are moving. Good thing my CDK and 165ED have Nitecrawlers on them so i don't have to worry about it.

Nice review! Thanks, Tyler. I just purchased (but haven't yet received) an Askar 107PHQ Quadruplet and it seems similar in many respects to the Gear 90 (but I'm not sure what kind of glass is used in the Askar PHQ series although I'd guess FPL 55 since it's not stated anywhere). I'd be curious to see how the Starfield APO refractors compare to the Askar APO refractors. BTW, I used the camera rotator feature of the ASIAir last week and it worked very well! Thanks again for a great review of this scope.

the 107 is a slower scope and I suspect has been done because they are struggling to get the quality required for high speed combined with large format sensors - its quite demanding! - they don't usually state the glass type ... their Z series is FCD100 I think I read ... I bought a small TS Optics 80mm for use on my AM5 testing and thats quite sharp too ... once we get closer to winter I will be able to test longer ... our nights are really short right now in the southern hemisphere - S.

Are the images you show in the video available somewhere else in a better resolution?
