Hey Dave. Been following for years ie. Layout plans (HO / N) videos, layout tours Disneyland reference etc. Your art ability is incredible. Why is there only 11 likes? We need to get you out there for others to enjoy your talent. I would give an arm and leg to have half that talent (of course it would make model building a lot harder LOL). Please bring more. Thanks.
You could have explained what you were wanting to do with Gustav a thousand different ways and I still wouldn’t have understood what you were talking about until you actually finished it! Very cool Dave!
MAGNIFICENT! Truly a work of ART! By far my favorite of your structures! at 45:13 i swear I saw a ghost chasing your brush!! Thanks for sharing your incredible art!
Dave, I think your eye for detail is beyond compare. Even though "Fantasy" is a very large part of most of what you do and I am attempting to be a little more based in reality, i find your techniques to be very usable. With the weathering, construction methods, painting and all else that your builds show us, everything shown, is completely usable! Thanks for the help you give!
Dear Dave, love the way you’ve shown this build. A great visual story in the making. Pleasure to watch. One remark; from the modelers perspective I understand that straight and angled is a good way to build a structure. Same for preventing warped boards. However, for the amount of dilapidation you’ve added to the building one might also expect to see some level of askew and warped elements. That’s just a humble opinion of a modeler whose hands sometimes make mistakes and therefore needs to adjust to the askewness I sometimes produce. It’s something that just occurs into happy accidents.
Oh, man. You got me wanting to create an 0n18 little shelf railway. Matches perfectly with my main hobby which is cardmodelling. There is a lot to find there for you. One wish: Your videos would benefit greatly from more closeup videos. I watch them while building myself and always try to squint to catch more details 😅
Such a wealth of tips and tidbits here, plus the spooky back story makes this a must-see for any Halloween villager or model builder. Right up both my alleys! Thanks again, Dave.
Another fantastic build. It looks so realistic. You give a lot off amazing tips on how you achieve these special effects. I learn a lot from your videos. Thanks for sharing them with us to help improve our skills. Be safe and see you in your next video. 👍🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂
Hey Dave. I dont know if you knew that Old Tucson has been purchased by American Heratige Railways and was approved by the County Board of Supervisors. So hopefully Contendion Station might come " ALIVE " with a real Steam Train service. Thanks for all your videos they are so much fun and instructional on modeling railroad. Keep up the good vibes and work.
Awesome build from start to finish. I would’ve like to see a little more sag on the roofs, especially on the two side coverings. Build so good nonetheless.
This is fascinating. Do you think it would be possible to create a Pepper's Ghost effect with a model train, so that a literal ghost train appears to travel along a dismantled line or vanish into a boarded-up tunnel?
Hi David What a wreck love it, Gustav is brilliant I hope we get to see the effect as you envisioned it. Do you know if a drawing of the depot you based it on was published in the model press. I get the impression its a little bit smaller than Gruesome Gulch and might suit what I want to do in the world of the living. regards John
Hello, Dave! I’ve recently gotten into proper modeling (outside of laying down tracks and running trains) and I’ve been wanting to expand my scope of the starting process of scratch building models. I’ve recently bought some On30 stuff and I’ve been wanting to make some example models before diving into trying to build a proper railroad. Where’s a good place to start? Are there any kits you’d recommend, any drawings that are a good place to work off of, any tools that are an absolute must for 1:48 scale modeling? Anything is greatly appreciated!
Thanks for the in-depth instruction on the Pepper's Ghost effect. I have heard the term for awhile thrown around but this was the first time I have seen how the effect is created. Is there a reason it's called Pepper's ghost? Named after an imagineer?
That's one delightfully dilapidated Depot Dave.
Who knows, the telegraph could be part of "the Ghost to Ghost Network". I can't speak for everyone, but I sure had fun!

Thank you. Only 11? Probably because the video was only released less than an hour ago.
After about 11 hours the 'like count' is up to 291 (including mine)
@@michaelelandon That's great. David's art talent is incredible. I must have been one of the first to see it.

A masterful job and a great explanation of the construction

Amazing talent on show here. And really nothing left un-explained. A great inspiration for detailing any building. Thanks
Great build, thanks for sharing.
This is awesome, the ghost effect is perfect!
Hey Dave, I've been loving the Gruesome Gulch build so much I had to buy a couple of your t-shirts!
love your work Dave! I always have your videos playing as I work on my layout!!

Fantastic build. Inspiring. Congratulations.

Great build Dave👍
Looking good.
To make shades look corn torn, wet with water and erase ,pencil eraser, from inside to outside edge. It looks rather good I think.
That was a lot of fun. Thanks for another wonderful build.
Very nice, very inspiring. I like what you're doing with this.

In your haste remember hyper speed and even warp speed are acceptable. But never, never, go plaid.
What about ludicrous speed? 😂

Now if you can have ghosts as the loco crew. Or maybe skeletons...

I NEED A PAIR OF THOSE STEEL BLOCKS YOU ARE USING IN THE GLUE UP. WHERE CAN I GET A SET?
They are called 1-2-3 blocks. You can pick them up from Harbor Freight, Amazon, or anywhere that sells machining tools.
It looks like it needs more debris and abandoned luggage/freight.
