Well, Leif’s mother uses swords and staves along with passing her personal Light Brand down to her son in Genealogy, and he starts with it in Thracia. So, with all that and the fact his promoted class from Genealogy could use staves (technically all weapons except Dark), Trickster is a fine fit for him, at least on paper. It being tied to another royal figure in the story of Awakening also is a happy coincidence, I feel; but the clown shoes are entirely Gangrel’s to blame. (to be fair, Leif is raised pretty humbly by Finn and Eyvel to the point that him having some cobbled together pointed shoes isn’t totally out of the question; he isn’t crowned Prince until shortly before meeting up with Seliph, chronologically)
Oh yeah, knowing that makes a lot more sense. I was more thinking in the sense that Lief seems like the typical good guy hero while the trickster class seemed like it was for more off the wall characters, like how the other tricksters in the game were more morally dubious with Gangrel being Gangrel and Annas probably willing to do anything to get that cash money. Also yeah, clown shoes are definitely something Gangrel started.
An interessting bit is that Micaiah's art actually has nothing to do with sticking her into a random class or the fanservice. In japanese her class(that she shares with some FE4 girls) has already been called "Miko" or "Shaman", with Dark Mage being the awakening-equivalent to a shaman from older games. It is just a pure reference and nothing more.(For that matter, I hope to eventually see a Hoshidan Micaiah in a future game, because "Miko" is the japanese name of the shrine maiden-class) Otherwise, idk what my thoughts are. Katarina makes sense too because she was a tactician in lore, but that connection is sorta cheapened since all einherjar-chars are built on the avatar-system and can become grandmasters anyhow(everyone gangster until Tactician Amelia). I guess I always headcanoned that Celica's awakening art is literally just a younger version of her and Ike over there looks pretty cursed. Eh, I guess I can also mention that swordmaster Seliph is conceptually weird because like, isn't he moreso known for promoting into the same mounted class his father was in? I feel like he should have been a Paladin instead.
Swordmaster Seliph I think looks good and it's also a lore reference. Because of where he was grew up. Trickster Lief is the same as Seliph as Lief being a trickster is reference to the fact that he had to steal to survive. Also he could use magic.
Yeah that sounds about right Although I forget exactly how many there are, I counted at some point and it’s like 10 for every game before awakening + a handful of weird characters that couldn’t really fit into a specific game

I had a part on this video I cut for being too long and not really funny talking about her art and wondering why they chose Micaiah of all characters to sort of make fanservice if they did it on purpose. Who knows maybe Rca Wada felt like drawing her like that. I’m not too much of a fan of it either way.
