- Ideas First, Writing Later I'd say imagine through your Scenes before you start writing. Maybe have 6 or 10 Scenes envisaged before putting key to screen then building up the Plotline. Only a super-experienced writer can just sit, think and type. Once you have your story then, and only then, discover your points - e.g. end of 1st Act, halfway point, etc and fill in the gaps.
