They did a spectacular job across the board. I’m also thankful they got John Lithgow for season 4. He was amazing. I wish he would stop pushing his political views on everyone but he is still an amazing actor
This is by far the best interview I've seen from Michael C. Hall. He's a fairly reserved guy, and on standard talk shows, the time is very limited, so he never gets to open up. He seems to have really enjoyed himself here. This is the first interview that I felt I learned something about him. Good show!
Larry Lachmann No problem, although the Nerdist interview is based on comedy. So, they do go off topic ALOT on that podcast. Just a warning, just in case that's not the kind of interview you're into,
Over two hours of Michael c. Hall. I'm extremely pleased with this interview. It's one of the most in-depth, honest and informational interviews I've ever seen
He is SO talented. Not just acting either. His singing voice is wonderful. I love his band Princess Goes to the Butterfly Museum. And I can’t wait for season 9 of Dexter.
Im still watching Dexter I'm on season five episode 2 and I'm glad though because i still can be excited and interested in this show that its so fun. Micheal C Hall is the best actor alive the best!
He plays Dexter so perfectly. Michael says in the interview that because Dexter is disconnected, in some ways it is easier to play the role. I think he is being modest here because Dexter is a complicated character with ever evolving processes. Michael C Hall is an outstanding actor. Ultra talented!
+Relatixe: Many people disliked Season 5. They thought it was anti-climactic. I liked it, and I loved the "romance" with Julia Stiles's character. There are more things that the character of Dexter needs to go through, and he evolves and devolves in Seasons 6-8. I know you wrote this comment 3 years ago, so I'm sure you watched all seasons. What did you think overall, and how did you feel about the ending? BTW: I agree that Michael C. Hall is a great actor for sure. However, I was BLOWN away by Jennifer Carpenter's portrayal of Dexter's sister Deb. I thought her acting was beyond superb; she moved me to tears on at least 2 occasions during the show's tenure because her acting was so convincing and REAL.
Loved this - fascinating to learn about intriguing actors and understand what goes on in their heads. 2 hours disappeared in a flash 🤭. Love his sense of humour! And he’s refreshingly down to earth. Watched 8 seasons of Dexter in 10 days (thankful I don’t have to wait 10 years for Dexter: New Blood!) and currently watching Six Feet Under.
A unique, impressively insightful down-to-earth interview. Rarely does one get to see the deeper truths explored in such detail and within such a familiar, relaxed atmosphere. Pollak maintains a pleasant symbiotic balance in communication and chemistry with Hall throughout the entire interview, and with such meaningful questions rarely posed outside of the living room if at all, I found myself totally intrigued. Thank you for sharing this!
I was kinda neutral about this interview. Some ppl are also -ve. Well atleast you enjoyed. Idk why but I also feel pleased on seeing +ve comments abt the interview.

I really wish interview had been made after tha airing of the Dexter finale, so they could have been free to discuss it at length and hear Michael's opinion on it
I wonder if Mike ever look at his schedule that day he went to this interview then peered up from his paper menacingly like "Tonight's the night" 😂😂😂😂😂 Love Dexter. No one else could've sold the character as well as him. And he's a genuine decent fella in the interview man. Props to him🔥🙌
The vibe I'm getting from Michael is that after 8 seasons of investing in Dexter he himself may be starting to feel certain "urges" as Dexter did. As long as he sticks with the code.
Well, I think the main reason why people find so much similarities, is simply that by the looks of it, Dexter's "fake nice" personality for people is actually mainly just Michael's real personality.
Best interview with MCH that I have seen as it is one industry professional speaking to another & no stupid "fan" questions either from actual fans or interviewers acting as the medium, you could say the fans' voyeur. The biggest surprise for me was that KP started as a stand-up comedian and what his agent said to him because he's a bloody good actor.
this needed to be 30 mins of good interview over blathering Kevin Pollak 'I'm a cool laid back dude that can get away with being interesting when I am not.' kudos to MCHall for giving him his time and not saying, "Dude, you;'e killing me here...because you're an 'actor' and a 'comedian' and you 'get me' you're still boring and unprepared!"
Goddam this was an amazing interview. I learned so much and only see Michael C. Hall as an even more amazing actor. Does anyone know of better interviews like this?
“Kevin Pollak……..his fans know him as a witty movie buff with a popular TH-cam show. But I know what Kevin does as a side gig after the show wraps…I just need an excuse to get close to him, so I’ll sit down for a friendly interview with him. What Kevin doesn’t know is that there’s going to be a surprise ending on my table.”

I enjoyed the interview, I think Dexter actually lets his guard down, Michael seems very sneaky like his star turn, part of me feels like I am watching Dexter, they don't seem a million miles away from each other, it must be really confusing for people when meeting Michael and annoying for him.
In theory the character dexter is playing a Normal guy, so Michael is playing an evil character that’s playing a normal guy like him if that makes sense 😂
Wow I can’t believe I just watched a 2-hour interview. Never knew Pollack had a show before. Interesting that Michael C Hall signed on for two hours! Great info, love him. FYI he doesn’t talk about his marriage to Jennifer or really any super personal stuff but still good. You’re welcome 😉
This interviewers crazy man, hes like making statements as opposed to actually asking questions....which is what he supposed to do. He also stutters and stammers non stop
What a wasted opportunity! Six Feet Under was one of the most unique and brilliant shows ever created and Kevin Pollak barely mentions it, also he goes on about himself way too much!
The fact that Pollack does bring up his past acting successes as often as he does....its no surprise that he does talk too much, whether it be about himself or something delayed just to not put the attention on the guest.
@@physicsguybrianit works in a sense that the interviewee is comfortable and it makes the interview more entertaining as opposed to a short timed, sorta scripted conversation but it makes the interviewer a bit unlikeable cause he just keeps going on and on
I hope Michael c hall buys the dexter rights when they go down and then Rewrite the ending again.. but for real like if they wrote like season 8 was the end.. or if they reshoot the last 15-20 minutes… I don’t know why showtime Wouldn’t order a reshoot after seeing the finale If I was Espinosa I would have ordered that shit….
if kevin wasnt an actor with some street cred...and he was just a guy interviewing this would be weak at best...he is slow and boring, but maybe this allows the actor to chill...its all about the energy
KP is a terrible interviewer, could have been done in half the time, or got twice the information ...he can't articulate his thoughts and even M.Hall is squirming in his seat. Shame :(
I'm a little late to the show obviously but who is the intended audience here? Too much focus on the technical side unless you're 'in the biz," I think. It would be great to hear celebrities talk more about their roles in general and the affect these opportunities had/have on their lives while acknowledging the fans for their roll in their successes. Just wasn't relatable...too dexter'ish maybe??
Kevin is so annoying; it takes him 10 minutes to ask a question, and I also wanted to knock that hat off his head. I love Michael C. Hall, but this interview was excruciating to watch.
Katgirlblue: I agree with you. Kevin is not a good interviewer at all. He's a bit pompous here. He asked some slightly off-putting questions, like when he inquired about Michael's money and contracts. Etiquette indicates that those topics should be off-limits. Then he sort of insulted Michael, saying that he saw him as being an artist who is not a businessman (perhaps insinuating that Michael wouldn't know how to negotiate a salary/contract). That wouldn't have been so bad if Kevin didn't then add that he considered *himself* to be 60% businessman. The interviewer takes the time to talk about how great/smart/money-wise he is? It's not about you, Kevin. How about how Kevin kept harping on the fact that Michael worked "only half the year" while on Dexter because it wasn't aired on cable. He kept saying, "You get 6 months off". Michael had to remind him that even during "time off", when one is a dedicated actor, one still lives inside his/her head and is constantly mentally preoccupied with show-related contemplation. A great, seasoned, dedicated actor never really "takes a break" from the role he/she plays. It's a borderline obsession, as he/she remains consumed with thoughts about next season's script, how his/her character will evolve, what he/she can do to better/perfect the character, how he/she can stretch the limits of the character's persona while still remaining true to the essense of the character. Not to mention that Michael had the added stress of being a producer, as well. You can't just take a break from that. True actors rarely leave their own minds. There is no "off season". That's why Michael kept using self-depricating humor to express how exhausted he was. I loved it when he said Kevin would find him in "some kind of institution" once the show finished for good. He was suggesting that "Dexter" was a labor of love; when an actor cares deeply about his/her craft and spend his/her days focusing, emoting, memorizing lines, living in character, and shooting scenes - often physically demanding scenes - over and over and over for 12-18 hours a day, it's depleting, regardless of how much the actor loves his/her job. When you add "fighting cancer" to that list, the restorative "time off" is so very needed, but is not really "time off" per se. At that point in the interview, they hadn't even discussed Michael's cancer battle, even though this interview took place well after Michael had gone through chemo and (thankfully!) had been declared cancer-free. I believe he got the diagnosis and did the treatments during/after season four. That's why season 5 had a delay in starting, I believe. I think Michael was still going through treatments. (I have not watched the whole interview, so I'm not sure what they talked about later or if they mentioned the cancer or how it affected the show. I was turned off by Kevin, so I stopped watching this interview). ☹️
Finish watching! Even though Kevin talks too much, etc., there are more seriously hilarious parts toward the end. Especially when they discuss Michael directing. Oh, and Six Feet Under is still worth watching despite some annoying characters. I had to buy the DVD set because we didn't have HBO at the time. I can only watch it once. When I tried to rewatch I just had to fast forward through a lot. I have watched Dexter countless times and NEVER get tired of it!!!
Totally disagree. He is having a conversation, and he is speaking from authority on many things. He is also very curious about his subject, but still infuses a lot of humor.
Absolutely agree with you, heidi and katgirl - Kevin is just way too full of himself, often asking the question and then suggesting answers such that all Michael can really answer is "yeah, kinda" and then Kevin starts talking again. And definitely the off-putting questions he asked. Gah. Some funny and interesting parts, especially shortly after the 1 hr mark, but still, we miss a lot of it because Kevin answers things for Michael. Michael's interview with George Strombo is my absolute favourite - they cover a lot of the "deeper" things that this talkshow kinda does but only brushes over because Kevin derails into talking about himself. I also love Graham Norton's interview style, in how he's essentially just directing the conversation towards interesting topics, but he talks as little as possible himself. Pity that Michael has been on the show itself yet.
He was really PERFECT for the Dexter role. Props to the casting team for picking him
Can you believe it was offered to Jeremy Renner? Would’ve ruined the show.
Every role he had, he was perfect for. He took each character and made them his own.
They did a spectacular job across the board. I’m also thankful they got John Lithgow for season 4. He was amazing. I wish he would stop pushing his political views on everyone but he is still an amazing actor

I agree! Kevin talks alot but he sure gets alot in return! A VERY informative interview and one in which you really get to know Michael!
Rita or Hannah? Hannah , no doubt
