I’m a long time HA wearer and I have become very jaundiced on my view of HAs. I think manufacturers have done a great job in terms of connectivity and that is very helpful in certain situations. Yet, despite the impressive engines and technology they are putting in todays HAs I actually don’t think there has been significant improvement in the user actually being able to hear better. So, I’ve now come to the conclusion one should get the style they like and don’t worry about the latest and greatest. I even think just buy the lowest level of technology you want. This is why I think Costco makes a lot of sense. Finally, yes I love the idea of the Lyric and I will definitely look at it but my guess is price will be to high to justify. Love what your doing. Keep up the great work.
All thanks to (doctor adule) for curing me totally and permanently from HIV. I will always be grateful sir 🙏 🙏🙏.you can visit his TH-cam channel for more informations
Great question. It really depends on the individual and how tightly the seals are fitted, I don't see them very often nowadays as I always adjust Lyrics physically to avoid them . Haematomas tend to be more of an issue come summer, I think due to perspiration affecting the flow of air. I'd normally allow for 4-5 days of rest and then reinsert. What do you find?
How well does Phonak support the lyric in terms of R&D? Are the continuing to update it with new programs and technology or because it’s analog with small market share do they spend more effort on improving their other products. Have you done any quantitative analysis as to how well people can hear with them compared to more conventional HAs. How would you describe the sonic properties of analog compared to digital? Why do you think no other manufacturers have followed this style of HA?
Great questions Curt: 1. We're on Lyric v 4. The most recent changes were around the longevity rather than changing the acoustics. They do seem to work on their digital products more. I imagine as the market is far larger. 2. There are definitely pros and cons to Lyric (I have a con video coming out soon). It is supposed to be a more natural sound compared to a digital hearing aid, and the musicians that I have fitted it with LOVE them, however they do fall short in certain more complicate listening situations to say the Oticon More 1. So there is a trade off for the cosmetics. 3. I believe that they're the only ones out there with this tech due to the patents in place. I really wish others would jump on board to drive down the price and drive up the tech!
@@TheHearingGuy The lyric for me was utterly useless, however have a feeling that this tended to come down to the way it was fitted and how it was set up more than anything. For most of the trial time, there seemed to be little benefit plus a lot of feedback. Hence I would not have chosen to proceed with it.
Hey Connectorpens, thank you for watching! There is a real art to it and it isn't for everyone. As mentioned in the video sometimes it doesn't fit appropriately in an ear. Ihope that you still ended up managing your hearing loss with something though?
@@TheHearingGuy Not yet I haven't even bothered basically since the last trial of devices was so successful. lol. Literally had arguments with the first audiologist I saw who claimed that the things that I was doing were the reason I wasn't gaining any benefit, despite trying multiple devices. I then sourced a second opinion and it was determined that I actually was performing worse with the device given to me than without it. I will eventually do something about it soon such as trying probably the Oticon More or even looking at a cochlear device once I have overcome the medical issue with my left ear.
Don't give up. There will be something out there that works for you. Check out my Oticon More review if you haven't already. Its a great hearing aid. th-cam.com/video/W2sFzmL2OpQ/w-d-xo.html
I have Lyric. Fit comfortable. Have trouble with feedback. Have tried numerous sizes. Left ear most. Have tried repositioning but end up tearing and separating into two parts. Suggestions? Problem starts when sleeping. I turn off but get feedback when turn on.
I tried lyric and loved it but my ear rejected it on the second night. A replacement was the same. Too much fluid gathering in the small 4 mm space. Any solution would be helpful.
Who is not compatible with Lyric? Can someone with a pace maker, heart monitor, or other battery powered devices use Lyric? Can a flight attendant wear it? Can it go through airport screening? Can it withstand all types of weather? Thank you.
Is there any danger to accidentally diving into a pool with a Lyric hearing device in my ears, other than damaging/ruining the device? Is there a physical danger, such as ear ache, infection, ear damage, electrocution, etc? Thank you.
Hi Joseph, thanks for watching. Yes there is the chance that one could damage ones ear, however I've had patients accidentally jump in the pool and all thats happened is that it's killed the Lyric.
Hello Dr….I’m on a trial with Lyric and experiencing occlusion even after various settings adjustments by the audiologist. I have normal low freq. hearing through 1-1.5k hertz. Can this be adjusted to prevent the occlusion? Thanks !
Great question. Your audiologist should be able to help. Sometimes if the hearing is too good in the low frequencies occlusion can be challenging. Perhaps a deeper insertion depth may help? Thanks for watching.
Appreciate the reply and instead of a deeper insertion I was fitted with XS v small to allow for a deeper fit. Unfortunately I encountered an issue with my right ear canal as the Lyric became “cocked” and was malfunctioning and had to be removed (painful extraction). Now I’ve been fitted with the Small again in right ear to avoid a similar problem and the occlusion issue persists. It’s frustrating to say the least. Enjoy your content Dr.
The confusion and occlusion continues …..very frustrating. I’m back to wearing XS and still occluded. I asume the only remaining option is trying the XXS to achieve a deeper fit. I have normal LF hearing so you’ve pointed out this can be challenging. Be well Doc !
Hey Ahmed Great Question. I find that with all hearing aids, around 75% of users that suffer with tinnitus and hearing loss have lesser symptoms when the hearing aids are in situ. The beauty about Lyric is as they're in 24/7 it should give that respite from tinnitus 24/7 too. Thanks for watching.
_What do you think about this tech? Do you think that you would you wear it?_

@@curtlizzi3167 I've just seen this. Thanks for the great feedback!
the best would be phonak b tanium na battery 13
Thanks Matthew, how often do you find haematoma on extraction and what's the wait time for new insertion if there is?

Very useful information Matthew. I’m so happy with my ear plugs to protect my ears when I want to go swimming😊
I’m really pleased that you’re getting on well Carla

Are you able to use Lyric to down the level of sounds in order to help with Hyperacusis?
Hi Markus, it can be used to regulate sound to an extent, however if you have normal hearing I would not recommend Lyric. Thanks for watching, Matthew
