Hi Ranveer, I zm from from Europe. Very interesting information. I personally think, the timeline calendar plus the information about Hanumana and Beer Jambovana should be shown in mainstream media so that such an important information reaches to 80 %hindus. Even I didn't know this .
It is also mentioned in Skanda Puran as a conversation between Kartikeya & Manu where Kartikeya tells Manu about an ancient time when creation came into existence and everyone was only brahmin varna and slowly some of them out of kindness (to provide & protect) became other varnas. And the diet was completely vegetarian with cow's dairy products. No meat. All vedic yagyas only had dairy products and other vegetarian oblations only. This is the most ancient time. Then He tells how due to Durvaasa rishi's curse, Shri disappeared from the srishti. She took away all Her manifestation and disappeared (She was prayed upon & gotten back during Samudra Manthan in future). So all vegetation were getting destroyed, cold period started, animals were dying and people were eating anything & everything to survive. Rishis were concerned with such state of emergency & inability to follow dharma in the face of adversity. So rishis prayed to pitrus & devatas and obtained permission to offer animals & animal fat to agni for oblation and received the boon that such sacrificed animals will reach higher heaven. So rishis told common people to sacrifice the animal with proper vedic mantras & then consume only a spoonful per person just to remain alive, not for taste. That way, their dharma will remain intact. Slowly people should move towards nivritti (detachment & mukti). That's the goal of animal sacrifice in vedic yagyas. And so vipareet meanings were attached to existing vedic mantras. For example, aja, ashwa, gau, nara - all these refer to various grasses & cereals. But rishis adviced people to take up vipareet meaning of these words, aja as goat, ashwa as horse & so on. Even then Gau & Nara medha were prohibited. Those who applied vipareet meaning to everything & consumed everything even after offering to Gods with proper mantras still went to hell. So, only aja & ashwa are permitted it seems, with only spoonful to survive and slowly go towards nivritti. This is mentioned in Skanda Puran. Not my words. Slowly conditions improved after Samudra manthan & apart from mountain dwelling people everybody else slowly got back to vegetarian diet. But still meat oblation was widely practiced too. During Ramayan times, it seems instead of actually killing animals, they tied animals & released them. This is verified in Lakshman Ram conversation during Kabandha vadha episode. Killing animals was not a widespread practice in this time but tying animals & releasing them was. But slowly in Mahabharat times, the yagyas increased & animal sacrifice yagyas too were done. This is proved by Yudhishthir Bhishma conversation where vegetarian diet is praised to be superior quality & practice but meat oblation with detachment in mind (because it was a practice of some communities who practiced it since long time after it was first sanctioned) was also considered non violence. So bottom line is : 1) Vegetarian diet was initial & firm part of dharm. In fact it is the superior diet as told by rishis. 2) Meat eating "became" a part of culture due to such state of vegetation loss. Not the other way around. We didn't become vegetarians from meat eaters. Rather we were vegetarians & adapted to meat eating in the course of time. 3) Meat oblation with detached mind leads to complete results of ritual and no sin is incurred. 4) Vegetarian diet still is superior and when not in state of emergency one should stick to vegetarian diet only. 5) Our gods eat what we eat. (Yaddanah purushah bhavati tadannah tasya devatah). So if we are meat eaters we should compulsorily offer meat to Devi before consumption. If we are vegetarians we should never touch meat. It is adharm for us under normal conditions. But in the state of emergency it is allowed but with detachment in mind. Vegetarians should only offer vegetarian/dairy products to oblation. 6) Unlike popular left beliefs, Ramayan doesn't have meat eating. Instead we can get several times when Shri Ram says he won't touch meat even in the state of emergency. Even when offering tarpan to his deceased father he offered fruit pulp with durva saying what we eat, our devatas also eat. Clearly suggesting no meat even though meat offering was practiced especially for pitru tarpan & vedic yagyas. Shri Ram also has a conversation with Lakshman whether to kill the rakshas called Kabandh then Lakshman replied, let that rakshas attack first, let's not kill before it intends any harm. If we kill someone before they attack us, just because they are rakshas it will be like cheating, exactly like killing the animals in yagyas by deceiving them of just trying & releasing after yagyas. So clearly some kshatriyas did animal sacrifice yagyas but some kshatriyas just tied & released. This is called sparsh yagya where devata touches bali animal & then ritual is completed & animal is released. No need for killing. Again, I'm not saying these. It's clearly written in scripture. One can search online too for the pdfs.
