Love that Dave is one of the biggest music icons in the industry, yet he is one of the most humble. There isn't a moment where he thinks the band is all about him - he's just along for the ride.
I would not say the best voice but one of the best - for sure. Freddy Mercury, Brian Johnson/ACDC, Joe Cocker (for example)can also compete at the same level
I know him he truly a great nice guy if you get him once he lives in NYC and season ticket holder for the knicks that's how I got to meet him and btw I work at Madison square garden

I'm in my fifties and loved good music all my life. Believe it or not I have always heard of Depeche Mode but never listen to their music seriously other that in the radio from time to time. Well... I have been listening to their catalog for few years now and I asked myself, in which planet do you live? Their music knocked me on my ass! They are awesome!
Sometimes in life we seem to avoid masterpieces because of a less than complex expectation at that point in our lives. I find discovering these masterpieces later on emanates the magical essence contained within even more. Like you've discovered a treasure trove of wonderments.

I admired Dave Gahan’s honesty so straight forward. He’s someone that has inspired and help people that have struggled in life. He’s and awesome singer and human being. Love him dearly and to me his a role model. He went to total darkness and was able to come out to see a better path of a new beginning of life. This is one of the reasons why Depeche Mode is still relevant today, because they keep it real, and it's always been about the content and quality of their music. They are down-to-earth and humble, which is something that is lacking in the younger artists today. Back when Depeche Mode was trying to make a name for themselves, there was no TH-cam, and no instant success. They did it the old fashioned way, through hard work!! I'm not saying other artist don't work just as hard as DM, but so many people on YT get instant celebrity status attention, and that's just wrong. What a voice! When I was a kid, my oldest brother went to London on a school trip. When he came back, he played DM 101 on his stereo. First of, I decided that I was going to behave and talk like him. Second, in order to achieve that goal, I came to understand I had to learn English. So, I became an English teacher. Go figure! Thanks DM! BTW, I failed miserably trying to sound like him when he sings or speaks, but still, people tell me that I have a nice voice. All these years of training paid off I guess.

I just first saw this interview now, but yesterday was in Chicago to see my first DM concert although was a huge fan since I was 13. ...I'd had crap seats but was moved to tears during the performance & especially was touched during "Walking in my Shoes". I knew every song by heart except for 3. But, this interview deeply moved me especially from 6:40 on, because although Dave, Martin, & all of DM have been on a different roller coaster from mine (most recently had massive brain surgery), the message to identify, connect, & carry on is the same. I felt as though I'd easily have a conversation with Dave just about on any topic & he'd be able to identify. Thank you for posting this interview ♡

An absolutely great interview by Joseph Patel (who barely gets a credit). I've never liked the VEVO brand or how it dominates music on TH-cam (+ which versions and mixes we are 'allowed' to hear) but Joseph asked some fantastic questions and showed real empathy and insight.

How do you sound that regular and down to earth having created such great music? I guess it's honesty. He's honest about his past and his own struggles. We can't ask for more, but I hope for more music. In 1980 I heard the first 'echoy' notes of "New Life' and I was hooked. DM's music is as fresh and relevant as ever!

Had a roommate buddy that served with me in the military back in the day. He mostly listened to that gangsta rap crap. I was more into alternative music. One day he surprisingly said to me, "Hey, dog, let me borrow that CD you listen to sometimes with the megaphones on the cover." 😎

Anton Corbijn is a coordinated visionary for many of Depeche Modes videos.....Some quirky and some quite lovely....He has made DM as unusual and unique as they their music is to this day.
I suddenly remember how infatuated I was with DM during my teen (1984) and Dave's fashion style was my inspiration... cant believe it has been 35 years now. Dave has aged since then but he is still looking handsome for his age
This album touches exactly how I feel and the disappointment of the decline of the human being. I always have loved the some and feel of their songs so I find it touching that we have all ages together not even knowing each other.
I and many others are impressed, dare I said proud of their favorite band's singer, that you got through hat tough period of the 90s and have been reborn showing the rest by example that there is hope. Dave you make a real difference with that message, and with Martin's song writing and lyrics, we identify with those tough Life Chapters. I do at least, 51 and a fan since you came to America and headed to Pasadena.
So honest, transparent and real. Love him. He had such a massive impact on my musical taste and love all those years ago. If I could only sing Halo like him one time...

How do you sound that regular and down to earth having created such great music? I guess it's honesty. He's honest about his past and his own struggles. We can't ask for more, but I hope for more music. In 1980 I heard the first 'echoy' notes of "New Life' and I was hooked. DM's music is as fresh and relevant as ever!
Interviewers are always like "I've been a huge fan my whole life. Thanks for joining us, Mr. Geeohuhaaoounn." He *never* snaps and tells people to get his name right. He's too cool man. Don't worry, dude: tons of us fans can say your name right.
Good answer Dave “very proud” to be that many years w DM. You guys are a family. This band influenced my perception of music. They’re unique their sound is unbelievable. I love electronic music and they kind of started all that in the 80’s. We are here in 2020 and they still Rock. DM you guys are my favorite band!!!! No doubt about that. Great human beings always reaching out to their fans. Thankful for DM.
Great interview. The interviewer asked really intelligent and pertinent questions. They weren't merely fanboy or sycophantic questions. It's clear the interviewer and Dave got each other.
Had a roommate buddy that served with me in the military back in the day. He mostly listened to that gangsta rap crap. I was more into alternative music. One day he surprisingly said to me, "Hey, dog, let me borrow that CD you listen to sometimes with the megaphones on the cover." 😎
Even the most hard core rap fans can only listen to the same mindless filth for so long eh? 😃

Anton Corbijn is a coordinated visionary for many of Depeche Modes videos.....Some quirky and some quite lovely....He has made DM as unusual and unique as they their music is to this day.
I suddenly remember how infatuated I was with DM during my teen (1984) and Dave's fashion style was my inspiration... cant believe it has been 35 years now. Dave has aged since then but he is still looking handsome for his age

I and many others are impressed, dare I said proud of their favorite band's singer, that you got through hat tough period of the 90s and have been reborn showing the rest by example that there is hope. Dave you make a real difference with that message, and with Martin's song writing and lyrics, we identify with those tough Life Chapters. I do at least, 51 and a fan since you came to America and headed to Pasadena.
