Do you have a story from someone who experienced Operation Cobra?
@@unitedwestand5100....I do.
Vee-HICK-clays? 😂
And people think AI is going to take over.
I always feel so sorry for the horses. Certainly not to diminish the human suffering, but the poor animals have no idea what’s happening around them. Maybe I’m being overly sentimental but it just seems like the animals have a degree of innocence about them, and it makes me sad to think about their pain and suffering during battle.
Especially for the ones in Russia that either froze or starved to death
You arent being overly sentimental. The poor faithful creatures had no say in the matter
Those were nazi horses 🐎
In the movie Fury Brad Pitt frees a horse after killing the rider.
You mean those technology advanced Germans . If you think about the Germans only won battles with basically peaceful and unarmed countries . The Master Race my arse !!
The information is great. NO music or phony sound effects is the key to being watchable. Closed captioning fills in the context.
Still, it's obviously not a human doing the voice over. Too many words are horribly pronounced wrong.
@@larryyeadeke2953 "Too many words are horribly pronounced wrong." - much as with any US reading, ant eye tank gun
@@larryyeadeke2953 Yeah, an english speaking mispronouncer of english words. Bit sad, really. But no music, no sound effects - thankyou.
Get a human narrator to read the script, because your AI Bot is unbelievably BAD!
In his book "The Big Show", Pierre Closterman describes this event. He visited the battlefield on foot, after visiting it in a 'plane to attack it, and found the resulting devastation quite repulsive.
I read that book. I was greatly affected by his utter deflation and emptyness upon hearing that the war was ended. It was the end of the Big Show, in which he had been a star performer. It was the end of his world. He was broken, and lost. His world of combat, purpose, and self-worth, had just evaporated. This emotion was well depicted in the captured German General's speech at the end of the movie Band Of Brothers. What could ever top the extraordinarily intense events they had just lived thro.
Emotional vacuum affected many at the end of the conflict, as with November 1918. We hear of PTSD but not the problems of those who simply returned to their old jobs.@@gordonbennet1094
??? No such thing occurred in the Big Show. He did examine a Tiger tank soon after D-day.
Have you read his book? @@majorintel9623
My late father, who was conscripted with the 43rd Wessex often talked about the carnage of the Falaise Gap. He wanted nothing to do with 'military commemorations' after the war (especially when he was involuntarily sent to Palestine till summer 1947).
Ive read Fritz Langanke's account. He was a Panther commander with Das Reich. Falaise sounds like what happened to the Iraqi Army trying to escape from Kuwait in '91.
Some very unusual pronunciations in this
AI read, but still pretty good. Those odd pronunciations are distracting.
The material is fascinating.
Director Sam Fuller was there and in an interview described the destruction of the German army in retreat, it was more or less a turkey shoot(not his exact words). He also made the movie "The Big Red One". The Colonel Rauch mentioned was a war criminal who for some reason was protected by the US and allowed to flee to Argentina.
This section illustrates perfectly the concept that our Humanity is the first thing we lose in War. I listen to their trials, many quite horrible and I find myself Rooting for them to get out of a particular savage situation, then I have to stop, No, We Don't want them to get out of that sticky spot, They B the Enemy What am I thinking! I'm thinking they are Humans too, some bad, others very Bad, some good, I've yet to find anyone too good but I'm still Look'n.
Listened for a few minute and became unbearable. AI voice terrible.
I find it funny😂
MY Dad was there with the SARS South Alberta Regiment. My Dad told me it was horrific and the stench of death was everywhere.
Interesting and informative. Excellent photography picture 📷 enabling viewers to better understand what the orator was describing. Pertaining to the traffic jam amongst vehicles depleted of fuel/burning. Special thanks to veteran soldiers sharing personal information/retreating combat experiences. Making this documentary more authentic and possible. Thru diaries/memoirs enabling historians to replicate those stories. For future generations to better appreciate the hard ships suffered by the retreating disorganized armed forces. Had civilian atrocities 😈 not been committed. Perhaps the advancing Russian military forces pursuit. Wouldn't have been as fiercely intense.
The Russians weren't any different than the Damn Germans . Ask the Polish .
No Russians at Falaise.
The clean-up following operations such as these must have been horrible to say the least.
Indeed. I can only imagine what life was like as a civilian, trying to put your life up back together after so much has been lost.
Reminds me of the picture of workers collecting skulls and random bones on the battlefield of Cold Harbor. The picture is from April 1865, and the battle took place in June of 1864. Just gruesome.
Dozers were used to bury the German soldiers Dad said it stuck so bad that you couldn’t throw up any more, he said he was shocked at the sight of equipment and bodies plus thousands of horses dead and wounded badly
What’s with the AI voice… the mispronunciations within the first 22 seconds was more than enough to make this unbearable. What a shame 👎🏻
It gets better.
@@johnt8636 OK, I’ll bear with it and will update, I hope I’m wrong I really do because this channel could be brilliant! I’ll happily read it for you if you’d wish in my Geordie accent, won’t be quite the same though 👍🏻
@@barrycleugh
Yeah I've enjoyed them. The generated voice can be annoying. Some of the episodes are better than others.
@@barrycleugh =
Blimey = A Geordie of all people complaining about accents (Hahahaa)
Barry = Stick with it mate, overall, it's still good enough to understand.
I still miss the proper English voice, as 'seen' (heard) over on WW2 Stories
Thank you so much for this channel. I would appreciate though the original AI voice which was a younger sounding person as appropriate for a soldier vs this elderly-sounding gentleman. An episode that covers senior officers woould work better with this voice.
My dad was assigned to battlefield clearance. Having to bury the bodies, and clear away the dead animals. He only told me two tales from then . One they found a towed four barrelled anti aircraft gun, and used it to open up the bloated animal carcasses. Two start with respectful digging the graves, in the end with so many bodies they made them fit the grave. It’s part of war that does not get told, god knows what effect it had on the people who had to do it.
There are many mispronounciations resulting from this narration software. WW2 Stories had much better narration.
Very interesting thank you, to hear a German account all be it somewhat whitewashed by the author.
My Father was one of the British chasing these fellows.
My Father spoke often of his experiences, almost always the ones he thought funny.
He was lucky, 3 times behind German lines, by accident he said, and only had 3 of his 100 men KIA.
I do though find the AI presentation quite regrettable at times.
The AI Completely misses parts where the author was intending to make a joke and laughably miss pronounces many quite common words.
If this is our future with AI's we are indeed in deep pooh !
still, seriously, thanks, even with the AI, this was worth hearing.
I found it odd that the AI would sometimes pronounce a word correctly, and at others mispronounced the exact same word.
@@sandman9924 agreed, is this the future or the English language ?
I hope not !
Von Luck because of his name was followed across Europe by women enigma operators
At a party in the 70s or 80s he met one woman who told him she knew all about his movements and life in the war
This guys voice makes these. Keep them going. Thx for numbering each one.
How is it the AI voice reproduction is getting worse? It's ruining what was a great series. :(
True. It is full of mistakes that makes it hard to follow
@@heinrichmakkink4104 it's a shame too because the perspective is from "boots on the ground" versus the broader discussion we see in documentaries such as World At War.
You could just buy the book...
Apparently you have not noticed?? EVERYTHING is getting worse. AI is a step backwards, not forward. You will learn.
Amazing these officers were talking of a pist-war army at this stage of the war. In addition to the collapse in France, the Russians had destroyed army geoup center in Belarus ànd were advancing ng everywhere.
A map instead of one photo would've been nice and better.
Montgomery established incontrovertibly his inability to take an objective at Falaise.
it wasn't his fault. There were SS units holding the gap open and the Americans slowed their advance to avoid friendly fire with the Poles and Canadians. This may come as a shock, but not every Allied issue was Monty's fault. Normandy was essentially his plan and Normandy was a spectacular success.
😂 Well, this was before Market Garden and after it took him a month to take his D-Day objectives!
The units at the front had to keep on advancing through desperate prepared machine gun and mortar fire after many days of horrific fighting, they were utterly decimated and exhausted but kept on going with incredible courage.
Sitting on a stop line chewing gum well to the south after a long drive through relatively empty countryside was not the same thing. Mr mikekenney1947 must be some sort of battle hardened blood and guts warrior. Most normal people want to get to h*ll away ASAP the first time a deafening and terrifying high velocity bullet goes anywhere near them, imagine that after repeatedly seeing what horror they did to your friends?
@@Conn30MtenorIt wasn't Monty's fault, because the Germans were resisting? LOL, yeah, an enemy will do that.
The US 1st Army during Operation Cobra was under Montgomery 's command. That went pretty well.
The reason the British attack was slower was because they were up against all the German armour. That was part of Montgomery's plan as Overlord ground commander. The British feinting towards Paris to draw off the German armour, allowing the US 1st army to break out against weaker opposition.
TRUTH
A child could have told Germans that a two front war was a road to disaster.
Truth is a bitch, but living a lie is much worse ...................................
This robot reading has perfect French pronunciation. It's English is fvcked though. The cow convo with the French farmer was funny.
I counted five tanks and one armored car destroyed by his platoon of three self-propelled anti-tank guns.
I could have sworn I listened to a story in this style of presentation months ago about a guy commanding a couple machineguns on the Eastern Front… some bits about shooting at a distant train maybe and it containing civilians? MGs jamming with stuck casings. Evading the Russians… I think maybe a different story of some guys taking a truck to a supply depot.
But this channel only has videos two months old. Was some content lost? I’m looking for what I was listening to before but I can’t even find it in my watch history.
What book is this from?
The narration software is seriously defective; for me, it disrupts the effect of hearing from a man about what he went through. Upgrade, please!
Interesting video
@ronaldlucas5360 Sir ,Glad you think so!
We named them ‘Forked tail devils’, proof of fiction.
@@christophersayrs907 I have doubts about these ‘accounts’.
There was a _true story_ from possibly a different site (they look _strangely_ similar) where German P.O.W.s in a camp allegedly had a secret special agent (conveniently captured and held by the American army in just the nazi’s desired location) who was privy to the upcoming *ultra most top secret preparation* _Battle of the Bulge_ and was planted to lead a break-out of dedicated pro nazi prisoner recruits to cause sabotage around the American P.O.W. cages. I lost all interest at that point.
I was smelling a rat from when the ‘P.O.W. reminiscer’ regularly received batches of *chicken dinners* through the wire for his friends from an amazingly friendly U.S. Army guard, all of this unnoticed by all the other semi-starving cage inmates.
Did the whole "Circuit de La Mort" last summer - on a bicycle! Germany's Stalingrad in the West, that's for sure. The only monuments that moved me were the one to Polish General Maczek and the one to the German pilot with the WEIMAR flag on it.
I listened for a few minutes, but the Ai voice over just killed this.i couldn't stand it and found something else.
Thanks for your video…. AI voice and all…!!!!!
Where do you find people who absolutely cannot pronounce words correctly. You find them all in Communication, naturally.!
I like the intent of the channel, but very much suspect that the reason the pronunciation is so bad is because the A.I. is supervised by a non-English speaker (likely Chinese.)
The pronunciation of some words in this could be from the Middle Ages - multitudy of vehicelles
These soldiers knew. They overlooked it. I feel no sympathy for what the germans of that era brought upon themselves.
The stupid AI mistakes in grammar and vocabulary are hysterical!
Well. The book isn’t well written and has a number of hilarious grammatical errors. So perhaps the AI is just being faithful to the base text?
As usual, the speech bot needs tweaking. Again.
38:35 Rare french cow encounter
Why no Maps?
Just can't get comfortable with the AI voice. Otherwise good.
The thumbnail shows a vulgar display of military power. Air supremacy has to be complete. Otherwise a tightly packed column would be ill advised.
They are probably waiting to cross a bridge while its cloudy and air attacks would be difficult
There are soft vehicles to the left, it looks like England or an assembly area well away from the front. The parking is back to back super dense space saving.
The software used for the audio is atrocious. I don't know if I can stand to hear the language butchered like that, then again some of it is rather funny.
good.
like listening to an orc talk about the Nirnaeth Arnoediad
The content is great, but what's up with the AI narrator, who mispronounces every other word almost like he's speaking Middle English?
It's like late Middle, Early Modern English, like a pirate.
Allies got blown the phuch out. A slight correction for history.
Vee hicklees, multitudee.............. this is a computer generated voice
What language is this ?
I love this series, but the AI voice in British accent mispronouncing so many basic words made it difficult to listen to.
Ironic, considering how German aircraft would strafe collumns of refugees four years earlier. Bottom rail on top now.
Why oh why does the narrator mispronounce some words?!!
The photo seems to have no relationship to the story.
Sow the wind. My dad in France in 1940 with the BEF saw German pilots every day every hour machine gunning helpless columns of French refugees. Amazing in 44/ 45 the Germans have changed into victims, sorry doesn't work on me.
Way too many commercials
Is this AI speaking? Pronunciation is incorrect.
Sorry I dont pronounce very well .willget better
This particular computer generated narrator is terrible
You could find someone who can pronaunce words better
Pronunciation on this mechanically-read production is simply awful. Other entries are somewhat better but this one is unlistenable.
love these stories. hate the damn robo voice.
If Patton had closed the gap as ordered there would have been fewer casualties. Patton disliked Montgomery he refused to close the gap and said it was up to Monty.
You have your history wrong. Patton wanted the close the distance between him and Montgomery and was ordered by Bradley to stop to avoid the the Patton's Americans inadvertently attacking British oncoming forces. Although, it is likely that Montgomery wanted Patton to halt and fought with Ike to tell Bradley to order Patton to halt. Regardless of who was the source of the Order to Patton to stop, Patton was told by Bradley to stop about 10-13 Miles from where Monty's forces were to keep a clear zone of operation between US 3rd Army and Monty's Forces.
This is so disappointing. The narration is awful from the first sentence onwards. I like this kind of content but this channel seems to put in far less effort cleaning up the mistakes than other World War II diary channels. I really do want this kind of content but this feels almost insulting.
I wish a real person could read the script instead of a computer.
Aleee-ed? Uh huh. Allied, methinks.
Mechanical voice a bit much…
Stop using A. I. To narrate. Mispronounces so many words.
Other than that good
The events of the last couple episodes is what may well happen to the ukraine army.
Pretty sure Hiroshima or Dresden were bigger infernos.
You're not even trying anymore with the AI voice, I mean it after this one if you don't fix this like proof read them I'm unsubscribing
🤣😂
Listening to this was painful. Your text reader is extremely primitive and sounds almost like a different language on some words. You can do better.
Is this narrated by ai? Soldeers? Veehicklays? Wtf is that pronunciation
2x Speed, it almost sounds like Patrick Steward.
Plz send the AI BOT back to school where it can relearn how to read. Simply awful.
How annoying the AI-generated English voice track.
Your AI can’t pronounce basic words, you’ve either got to upgrade the AI or find a human narrator
Go back to the other bot narrator
@JB-ic8eg copied sir
your A1 narrator is unlistenable

That AI narration is full of mispronounced words. You can do better.
A very mispronouncing robo voice.
This AI voice is failing at common words.
This is without doubt THE worst text to speech narration I have ever had the misfortune to hear (what on earth are horsee drawn vevickles, a multitoodee and allee-ed) - so bad that I am bailing after just two minutes. A real shame as it has such potential
