All the time when i was a boy i never got asked, but if i remember correctly i think back then i didnt need a license until i was about 12 but not 100% sure. Still for those few years i was fishing regularly up until about 14 or 15 i never got asked. Since then i only went fishing once or twice in England where i just got a day license...up until last November when finally i got back into fishing properly and have been going at least once a week and now its July. bizarrely, there was a guy from the EA who checked my rod license think it was back in January on a freezing cold day of all days and there was only me and one other bloke fishing a lake on a commercial. Its amazing all this fantastic weather we're having this summer and i just have this feeling that right till the end of summer, at the start of this winter that i wont have a guy from the EA come and check my license...yet there was that one back in January on a freezing cold day with hardly anyone fishing...
I have been fishing for 55 years and been asked on one occasion .. .. also on June 16th on the Worc's Avon .. .. As the RA inspector approached I hooked onto a large ell which gave me a mega fight although he was quite inpatient waiting for me to land and return the fish .. .. not the best of experience especially as he had just checked both my two teenage suns who both had their licences on them .. ..
Been fishing since I was 4 am now 23. Fish most weekends and lots of matches off to white acres again in September and I’ve been asked for my license 1 time only out on my own and my dad said I did a long time ago when I was younger with him. So twice in my life time I’ve been asked.
Unfortunately they just dont seem to have enough patrols I have bought my licence every year and only been asked once as a junior over 10 years ago now. With all the issues are waters now face they do need to be out there more and clamping down on slot of things that are simply going unseen due there lack of presence with the exception of otters I think they do great work in many situations I just feel there too stretched now to act and unfortunately that is a huge problem for a lot of our waterways.
I'm my experience, they do very little in most areas. Do nothing for the angler and encourage critters like otters, that rob waters of fish. I buy a licence very begrudgingly every year.

This is the law of the land, as bailiff myself i use a lot of discretion i am not on the bank to ruin someones day. If you want to change things, dont go slating hard working people on here or people with an opinion different from yours. Take it to you local MP'S and lobby for the change in the law, But slagging each other off tells me everything i need to know about a person, so pay up or lobby really that simple
Pay for the license to have nowhere to go fishing 🎣... Simply clever... Talking rubish in this video. Try to go fishing anywhere around London. No access, privet, no fishing, no overnight fishing etc
I've fished man and boy and only ever been asked to produce on one occasion. It should be a regular thing, get more bailiffs on the banks and make sure the sentences are severe for anyone without or have out of date licences.
Bailiff's do have the same powers of arrest and seizure as police officers. Probably a bit simillar to HMRC officers who also have the power of arrest.
Tbh you all act like the world owes you something this is coming from what most people would say younger generation I'm 21 I buy a rod license every year I've never been asked by environmental people I do get asked by bailiffs quite a lot and even after I and my friend shows them they hang around trying to find problems miserable scrotes. And maybe it's just my area but the local fishinhg tackle shop the bloke who owns it is exactly the same you walk in to buy a few things get your bait and he has to know where your fishing always mentions about having a licence and gives you a look of distrust and talks down to us however when a pentioner walks in treats them like there best friends. A lot of my friends have never bought a rod licence and I've met a lot of people on the banks that don't either for a number of reasons they don't want to pay the price of the licence when they only fish every now and then and no one agrees with the fact you have to pay for a licence and also pay for where you want to fish or sometimes having to join clubs which means more money and obviously its never a guaranteed catch your just a bunch of robbing cunts out to ruin people's day especially kids all were doing is fishing causing no harm and you cunts come round and ruin it atleast there not out causing trouble. Environmental agency and bailiffs are gunna have a dim future if this carries on.

Same thing as being randomly stopped and searched by police probably... I imagine they get tip offs and go where they are needed most??
Glad to see Justin from the darkness has been able to find a new career 😜

Not had a license check in 50 years . Wish they were so keen on checking United Utilities raw sewage dumps . Not fit for purpose.

Why not go to a fishing club? Also London is a big city, I wouldn't expect to see many fishes places in a city...
30 years of coarse fishing shown licensce once west sussex
VBS from AT do more than EA never see EA always see VBS tho i seen an EA bailiff sat with a poacher fishing eating his dinner left me gobsmacked!
I always buy a license but never been asked all the years iv been fishing but you will always get ya cheats if the fishery s aren't policed 👍🎣🎣🎣
Same power as a police officer? Well that means Joe public can do the same, good enough for the goose, good enough for the gander,
Joe public can't use a baton or handcuffs. Bailiffs can.

Been asked once for my licence in 50 years of fishing and that was in the 1970s in Kent. Zero enforcement. Useless.
