It's even more depressing when you realise that in the dark side option of killing him, it takes your character 3 strikes to finish him. With the light side option, it's just one blow and he's dead. The light side kill is much more merciful, while the dark side one is so.. brutal.
3:10-3:15 sting extra hard because they're both right. Arcann is a lost boy with too much power throwing a tantrum, and Tenebrae is the monster who raised such a damaged, emotionally stunted man and a daughter too far gone.
Even on my Warrior and Sorcerer I can't bring myself to do this simply because its what Valkorian wants. Plus its super satisfying to make him kneel and admit by greatness in front of the entire galaxy
Personally, sometimes Valkorion has a point. Like here for instance- Arcann has ruined millions of not billions of lives. His cruelty knew no bounds. He doesn’t deserve redemption.
For my characters, it does not matter if he deserves redemption. It matters if he has useful information (and the fact Senya vouchers for him)

This is actually pretty upsetting. Valkorian disowning him broke him so much that he wanted to die.
To be honest, this is the first time a game really makes me feel disgusting for my actions if I choose to be an evil ass, and i think that BioWare has done a great job with all the possible outcomes ranging from the ones that just make you want to cheer from awesomeness to the ones, where you really start to think that you might have chosen the wrong way to play. Way to go BioWare!

I feel the similar way. When my Dark Jedi was trying to force Seniya to turn Arcaan to me, I almost felt sorry for killing her. So when I encountered Arcaan, I was hoping I can have a third choice by forcing Arcaan to join. After this kill, my Dark Jedi Knight turned away from the dark side

@@JamesSkywalker1990 Senya dug her own grave. For half of KOTFE she spent ranting how her children must be killed, then she does 180 turn in the last chapter and insists that this monster can be redeemed. The only thing Arcann deserves is death.

I completed KOTET a few days ago and I was tormented by the decision I made to kill senya and arcann. I tried to play the inquisitor story for fun but it kept getting back to me and it pissed me off so I used a boosted character token to replay the expansion w the same class and character looks and having redeemed arcann, i feel more at peace. I could just be weird though
It's the Bioware curse. They make you feel terrible for making choices you thought you'd enjoy beforehand. It's why for instance I felt bad killing Logaine in Dragon Age, because right before you do it, he comforts his daughter by telling her it's ok and that he's honored to be killed by a warrior like you. I felt like dog p*ss for doing it. It's kinda like Tol Braga says in the Knight story, "Beware - destiny rarely happens the way you expect."
THis expansion should be renamed The Outlander Kills the Star Wars Universe. Because damn, Letalis is killing every fucking body

And vailyn is azula, their mother left lmao so many coincidences.
That's just insulting to Zuko's character tbh. Zuko is more of an anti villain not to mention his worst crime tbh is hiring an assassin to kill a twelve year old which pales in comparison to Arcann who slaughtered countless people.
@@qiralyncassette In a way Zuko is a foil to Arcann and vice vera. Their stories are different yet so similar. Zuko was dismissed by his father and lost everything he had, was redeemed through the love of a family member, tempted by his sister, and then found his own path. Arcann was dismissed by his father, but was never sent away, instead usurping his father and succeeding him, becoming a monster just the same, then losing everything he had in his life, only then did a loved one try to redeem him, and providing they do, its not even them that give him redemption, but his archenemy that took everything he wanted, and to him, its not actually redemption (he says that he can never be redeemed for his actions), but the start of his new path, not to right wrongs, he can't undo his crimes, but to make the world better so others don't have to keep suffering.

I feel really bad for the remaining citizens and garrison there, the citizens cheered that reinforcements arrive, but little did they know that the battleship was about to kill them all. And the Garrison, they were left behind there because they failed their Empress and former Emperor. And they probably thought that the battleship's blaster bolts will be their punishments.

The dark side choices are so much better. I enjoyed watching Arcann saying his last words. End it, outlander. So impactful. You sense his disgrace and you still want to kill him.
Arcann killed way to many people. He got what he deserved. Plus I much rather liked having Lana and Theron with me at the end of KOTET not Arcann and Senya.

I love Arcan new look, I wonder if we can have him in the alliance even with the choice you've made with this character(like killing Senya and the fact he didn't recovered)

I love the fact that no matter how bad Valkorion/Vitiate, Vailyn or Arcann are. The Commander can always be the biggest asshole in the universe if you carefully pick your dialogue options.

that's possible, could be also why he tries to make him fight you when he's healed
i dont understand why the sith inquisiter doesnt to just try to absorb valkorian because he can force walk and he can take valkorian and absorb his power?!
@Shawn Sanders You mean when Valk steps out of her mind? It would seem plausible. Wonder if there is an explanation as to why the SI can't use her abilities after chapter 3 ends. Or maybe Bioware just "forgot" she had them.

Would you feel bad about a guy getting the Lethal Injection after killing thousands of people? ... yea, not everyone who could be redeemable, should.
Jasper Who Knows agreed I killed Arcann but I remember my friend arguing with me saying “How come you redeemed Loghain but not him” I never gave him an answer but I know the two aren’t the same Loghain is way more honorable then Arcann

Valkorian was his example. Arcann never had a good influencer for the majority of his life besides his mother.
Valkorian genocided entire civilizations, ate the force of two planets, has caused untold suffering, neglected his sons, and caused one son to kill the other.
Arcann is an abused child. He isn’t thinking correctly, and it is up to us, the Outlander, to correct his course.
I always played light side Jedi but I just started leveling a Dark Jedi Knight. I can't wait to get to this scene!! She sounds so dark and mean in her speech. Loved it!

As much as I would want to redeem at Ann I have to think of every person he killed, tortured and brutalized simply because he could. He got his revenge on his father and had his greatest enemy in carbonite. He could’ve changed for the better and not follow his fathers footsteps but he didn’t. He kills anyone even his most loyal and has had in murdering billions. Him, his sister and his mother have to be brought to justice for all those people. Him just being given a slap on the wrist is a slap in the face to every single of those billion that family is responsible for slaughtering

i know i killed lots of people during my class story and during others but killing Arcann .. it wasn't just ( Kill Arcann) it was execution damn cold execution i never about other kills like that :/ and that music that was awesome :)

Man, this is some real bullsh**t. Every kill in this expansion (except for Saresh) feels so sad and makes you look like the villain. Even when I killed Koth, who I hated more than anyone or anything else in this game, I was like: "Dude, you couldn't even let him finish his sentence and say goodbye?" It all just left me kind of heartbroken, I wanted them to die in my dark side play-through, just.. not like this.

i would kill him if it didn't mean having zakuul turn against you later i think, but he deserves to die after wiping out 5 planets and killing millions... but i'm guessing by killing him vaylin and probably senya you end up in the last kotet chapter with the entire family+ valkorion trying to kill you in your own mind, and just having vaylin and valkorion trying to kill you is hard enough to make them go into those green moving circles to beat them, so having the entire family would probably be way to much work

the light side speech only does one strike. The dark side was being brutal and decided to practically brutalize arcann
My Darth character is maxed out dark side and I can guarantee that my character will choose to pretty much kill everyone with all the bad options

The dark side options are kind of weird. You just stab the whole galaxy or burn it down with force lightning. I tried to play an all dark sith warrior, but i can't.
I've never seen this option before now. It's gut wrenching and breaks my heart. I just can't do it. None of my characters have ever used a kill option on a main character. Dark or light side. I love how this plays out if you choose to save everyone. So much of this go far beyond just Arcann falling to the dark side. It's not black and white.
Now with echoes of oblivion and whispers in the force, we will get more some content with Arcann in Legacy of the Sith dlc sometime this year. 😊
Realistically, you probably should kill Arcann to show the galaxy that you are superior and to do what is necessary, he did ruin so many lives after all, so it would be a big flashback if you let him live. It's what any good leader would do, but it doesn't make it easy.

Make dark side choices, don't let Senya try to "fix" him on Voss... and that's about it I think ;]

He closes his eye to prepare himself. This is the dark option and we’re not letting him die so easily, the first two strikes are to make him suffer first.

Bullshit, a good man does not kill millions without a good reason.. He wanted power and sure probably also to be approved by his father but still he was in the end a monster and a weak fool.

In the end it was pathetic and whatever the player played light or dark side killing Arcan is still a form of justice.

I don't know a lot about the dark side, but I know once you become fully consumed by it, you're not the same person. Its not an excuse for killing millions of people, Arcann says that himself, and says he can't be redeemed, but said he wants to try to atone for what he's done. I don't think it was simply a change of mind, I think it was in part due to his healing on Voss mixed with being shown mercy through light side choices. He probably was less and less consumed by rage and revenge.
Can't say as to whether he'll always remain that way, they hinted several times that Arcann was uncertain in his ability to stay completely away from the dark side. Some people seem to be more 'vulnerable' to the temptation of the dark side and I guess thats what Arcann fears might happen to him.
I kept him alive because I want to see where it goes from here. I want to see if he'll descend back to the dark or actually redeem himself or completely transcend who he was. Less predictability = more interesting of a character in my opinion.

I'm surprised people actually spare him on anyone other than a Jedi character. I mean why? He's a mass murdering dictator. It'd be like sparing Hitler.
Apparently everyone who says this completly forgot on how the Dark Side of the Force works.
@@CedricBassman Well that's the thing, why would a non-Jedi character who doesn't give a crap about the Force suddenly forgive a mass murderer? And even if the Dark Side corrupts, that's not much of an excuse. An abusive childhood does not excuse being an abuser as an adult. It's just the cause of the issue.
And here's a question: would a non-Force sensitive mass murderer be treated the same way with "forgiveness" and stuff? Or does being Force sensitive somehow elevate you to a position where your actions are not considered your own?
@@DawidKov - You are susceptible to the dark side whether you are force-sensitive or not. Just because you can't use the Force doesn't mean the Force can't use you. The Force affects and influences all living beings whether they believe in it or not. I agree with your point about non-force sensitives often being given less slack than force-sensitives. And I also agree that because of the way the dark side works, it is completely hypocritical to want to ascribe a different set of redemption rules to non-force users than you would to force users considering that it's well-documented that the dark side can consume *anybody* .

Normal people behave just like people - their corruption is the natural human falling, not a mystical force pushing them in one direction or the other. It follows very similar rules, but it's not the same.
Otherwise the Jedi would preach celibacy for all living things, just like they do for their own members.
And while the Force has a destiny for everyone should they choose to follow it (that's Lucas' description), it does not dominate anyone's life - people still have free will. That's why Kreia is wrong, and was always wrong.

I disagree with that. The dark side may hold an increasingly devastating amount of influence over some individuals over time, but their way of thinking and their actions are still ultimately their responsibility. Arcann himself more or less admits this when he asks to join your Alliance for atonement, and you even said yourself: "even if the Dark Side corrupts, that's not much of an excuse." Well, you just said their way of thinking is changed without their control, so dark side corruption *would be* a valid excuse if their thinking was changed without their consent.
There are numerous instances where a darksider has exerted free will and rejected the dark side in favor of a light-sided action. Darth Vader chose to save Luke from Palpatine, for instance. The dark side can consume someone, but only if they allow it. That's why you frequently hear phrases like "the temptation of the dark side" or "seduction by the dark side." People (including force users) are making the conscious choice to give into the temptation because it's hard to resist, but hard to resist does not equal "beyond their control."
The cutscenes seem rushed and unfinished and the dialogue is flat, no emotion. Compared to the gems that were kotor 1 and 2, this game is a pile...
