Why does fast food look so much better in ads than in reality? We returned sad-looking food at McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's and Jack in the Box to see if they actually could make their food look like it does in their own pictures!

Just to be clear, this video is not sponsored or endorsed by any of the restaurants depicted, or any other company. This was in fact a hidden camera exposé, and no foods were tampered with in any way. They were all served to me exactly as they appear in the video.
And in case you're wondering what I did with all of this food, my cameraman ate some of it and I gave the rest to the workers who were painting my next door neighbor's house.

I work at Wendy's and you can't expect them to make every burger perfect because we're told speed is the most important thing more than we're told quality is the most important. We only worry about quality if the customer complains. So basically you're more likely to get scolded at work for being slow, than for being sloppy.

I guess that's true, if you look behind the scenes, it is a lot of work. I personally would be more concerned of the quality than the time, but customers may be in a rush, or just hungry and tried of waiting. We should just stop complaining because the reality is, you can't expect a burger to be made perfect and fast.

I worked at McDonald's many moons ago (no reason to ask how many), but it was due to the ads being modeled up so to say. One manager specified it took 6 hours to make the perfect Big Mac to make sure it was "ad" ready. So the people making the food behind the scenes, are getting the sandwiches ready in warp speed creation. So, you get a bit of sloppiness for the sake time. Thank you for your time. I usually like to go for Chicken Teriyaki, and have them add avocado, little lettuce, Jalapenos just to spice it up a little, black olives, and whatever else I want on it, with drizzle of honey mustard or the BBQ Ranch. You can actually ask to have two kinds of sauces on your Sub sandwich, which is cool. =D

As a kid I worked at McDonald's in 1976. The Big Mac's we made looked like the ones in the ads. We had quality inspections and corporate secret shoppers. Food was fresh or thrown out. Now you get crap that is stored in a heating bin. You're setting for crap and that's what you deserve. Insist on better and you might get it or cook your own food.
