Great team.. They are hungry for glory. They must pass their neighbors Brazil and Argentina. The ultimate and exciting South Cone competition. The three legs rivalry.
I am an Argentina fan but I think Uruguay is probably going to win. We have seen in the wc qualifier how they managed to win against Argentina. Goals are hard to score against them.
I believe Uruguay slowing down at the beginning of the second half in both their games is a strategy being used by Bielsa. Why? 1. He has a two goal lead 2. He 's aware of how physically taxing his tactics are 3. He knows his team has the opposition scared into defending because of the relentless high press/constant waves of attack 4. He knows he has a bench that can maintain this type of play He's allowing his starters to take a breath for 15 or 20 minutes at the beginning of the second half after which they begin to once again impose themselves on the opposition for the next 10 to 15 minutes. Following this he makes his substituions and gets 3 or 4 fresh players to finish off the game by which time the other team is exhausted and are unable to respond. Of course this will be more difficult against better teams. Nonetheless it has worked for him as they did it to Brazil and Argentina in the recent WC qualifiers. You add Bielsa's tactical intelligence to a team like Uruguay who are traditionally tenacious, determined, physical and hungry and you have a potential powerhouse in the making. The players on this team are 23-27 years of age on average. This means by the next World Cup they will be in their prime. Their U-20 team are the reigning World Champions and during that tournament played in this very manner. Those players have yet to play on the senior team. Bielsa took the job in Uruguay for a reason. He saw the potential. The man is a genius.
I thought in 2022 that Bielsa would be the ideal guy to coach the USA. His style demands a peak physique from tireless players. USA can give him that. He is used to develop unknown players to world star. Specially young ones. He will scout any player, in any league. Everyone has a chance. Imagine being a 20something year old kid in the USL championship and knowing that the coach of the USMNT is watching this game. I think the USA would have been what is Uruguay now.
I also noticed how slim and trim they are. I know all professional athletes are in excellent shape, but they really seem to be less on the bulky, muscular end of the spectrum and much more in the lean, long end of it. Do you think he would have picked the players whose physique meet his playing style, or is this a coincidence?

Yeah, it's Bolivia (and this demonstrates how unremarkable the 2-0 US had over them was) but still this doesn't take anything away from how ruthless Uruguay were or how impressive they've been ever since they crashed out of the last World Cup (which honestly I feel was down to scheduling over anything else. South Korea got to play a Portugal side that had already guaranteed first place and had nothing to play for. I still think Uruguay would have put up a way better performance against Brazil that what South Korea did). Plus, who else could be considered a favorite? Brazil has been shockingly lackluster, none of the North American teams look like they can compete with the best of South America, while neither Chile nor Ecuador have really impressed. The only two other teams that look strong enough to win it are Colombia and Argentina, and while the latter has a better team on paper, I feel like Uruguay are playing with more fire (which is understandable, given that Argentina have won everything there is to win in the last few years).
I feel like that too. But also check the new stadium they built in El Alto to play international match. 4100 meters (13.000 feets) above the sea level. That's so high that they would be the 6th tallest mountain in Europe. I even don't know if a Helicopter can hover at such altitudes. Bolivia would not be gentle with the visiting countries in that high.
I would have liked to have seen squad rotation & earlier subs. Can they keep this pace/intensity for 4 more games, when the quality of the opponent goes up?
It…is? There have been way more 0-0s, way more fouling, way more flopping, way more uneven matches. Basically half every group are just whipping boys. The Euros are obviously just a higher quality of competition overall.
Euro obviously way higher teams don't lose 5-0 like this even strong teams like Spain Germany struggle to win over that upset .you are expecting America team to beat European😂

Kids Clubs (3-18) have a low to no entrance fee for players. I’m telling you with this mentality in 15 years, the US would be a forced to be reckoned with, and have that Messi like talent budding here. Look at Messi look at Suarez look at Ronaldo, players who came from poverty to become world class
Here are some interesting numbers about the last 10 editions of the Copa América (from 1999 up to the ongoing 2024 cup): Costa Rica: 5 appearances, 5 matches won USA: 3 appearances, 4 matches won Panama: 2 appearances, 2 matches won Honduras: 1 appearance, 3 matches won Bolivia: 10 appearances, 1 match won (Note: All four CONCACAF teams I just mentioned have, at one point, beaten Bolivia at the Copa América over period I stated. Five collective matches, Bolivia lost them all and has just scored one goal, yet to face Panama a second time). It's hard to sit through any Bolivia match at this tournament knowing they have spent a quarter of a century doing absolutely NOTHING, especially when you have the Hondurans watching at home, wishing they could play it. They have been eager to play another Copa América for decades now. True that Honduras is far from its finest version, but at least they would have put far more effort and enthusiasm than Bolivia who simply don't care to try anymore.
Uruguay is winning the cup. No chance Brazil or Argentina are winning it. I said weeks before the tournament started that Columbia or Uruguay are most definitely reaching the finals. I also said that Vini or Nunez will win the golden boot, and my predictions are already taking shape.
4:05 Herc hits the nail on the head. Many of us feel bad for the players still stuck with "Triple G". The national federation should have cleaned house and found the money to hire anyone but Berhalter. It's hard to support them with him in charge.
Because the USSF got woke, they have to pay double for a quality coach. Equal pay means what you pay the USMNT coach, you have to pay the USWNT coach. The USSF has guaranteed US Soccer will forever stagnate in mediocracy. Go woke, go broke! This is the best it's going to get, and it ain't that great.
Kasey at least understands the sport. Herc is a joke who acts like he was 1083839210x better than he really was, Sebi's an L tri fan... I just can't with these two.
Only way US doesn't go home is if Uruguay benches everyone and chooses to allow them through ala Portugal/Georgia. Cause Panama is getting a result against Bolivia.
They can easily beat Argentina. Argentina is not an unbeatable juggernaut, I dont see the same sense of desperation and intensity from Argentina since tge World Cup , plus Messi is on one leg right now.
Nuñez debe seguir así, si mete más goles mejor y sino los meten los otros jugadores. Un gol por partido es un excelente promedio. Lo que genera en el ataque es increíble.
I'd agree with Casey except what we need now is to complete the dose of reality. Berhalter is not a world class coach. His panic and poor choices against Panama showed that once again. And this team needs to reevaluate its talent. There are players on the USMNT roster who just don't belong there - evident in the Panama match and in other recent matches. And the players who do belong there are not being used to their strengths and skills. A new coach NOW would have two years to work on those problems and rebuild the team. It will take that long to prep for the WC if the US is to make even an honorable showing.

Man i cant help but to feel bad for Bolivia
I feel like that too.
But also check the new stadium they built in El Alto to play international match. 4100 meters (13.000 feets) above the sea level. That's so high that they would be the 6th tallest mountain in Europe. I even don't know if a Helicopter can hover at such altitudes.
Bolivia would not be gentle with the visiting countries in that high.
@@bolasdefraile Jugar al máximo es mostrarle respeto al rival. Además en cada partido se entrena para el próximo. Es un juego y hay que jugar.
I would have liked to have seen squad rotation & earlier subs. Can they keep this pace/intensity for 4 more games, when the quality of the opponent goes up?
I really wanna know who will play against the UMNST.
Something tells me that they will be the same eleven players to start
And They say Euros is Better than the World Cup 😂😅
It…is? There have been way more 0-0s, way more fouling, way more flopping, way more uneven matches. Basically half every group are just whipping boys. The Euros are obviously just a higher quality of competition overall.
uruguay is better than the world champion and the world champion is south american
Euro obviously way higher teams don't lose 5-0 like this even strong teams like Spain Germany struggle to win over that upset .you are expecting America team to beat European😂
@@infolibertad_1 world champion keeps changing in two years time another will come doesn't mean they are good eternity. Teams who win world champion like Germany exited out of world cup first round itself
@@rajsub3884 BS you are talking. You obvously are not watching the games. Scotland got 5-1 in their opening game.😅😅😅😅😅
Uruguay and colombia
Can't be, they will have to face off either in 1/4 finals or Semi finals. Unfortunately, that will be the real final, the 2 best teams right now.
............"and" is not possible, only "or"...........
Good.
Golden generation… it’s brass.
Change it from pay to play then golden talent like Messi will rise here in America. 5:30
How do we accomplish this: bakery buys the cleats, small business buys the uniform.
Here are some interesting numbers about the last 10 editions of the Copa América (from 1999 up to the ongoing 2024 cup):
Costa Rica: 5 appearances, 5 matches won
USA: 3 appearances, 4 matches won
Panama: 2 appearances, 2 matches won
Honduras: 1 appearance, 3 matches won
Bolivia: 10 appearances, 1 match won
(Note: All four CONCACAF teams I just mentioned have, at one point, beaten Bolivia at the Copa América over period I stated.
Well they are doing something now. They build a even higher stadium. In El Alto. At 13.000 feets above sea level.
The U.S and Mexico might actually get eliminated in group phase. We’re cooked 😂
...then you have more time to prepare for the WC....
Uruguay is winning the cup. No chance Brazil or Argentina are winning it. I said weeks before the tournament started that Columbia or Uruguay are most definitely reaching the finals. I also said that Vini or Nunez will win the golden boot, and my predictions are already taking shape.
Colombia and Uruguay can’t both reach the final since they are on the same side of the bracket.
Mate, it's Bolivia. 😂 They will fumble against Colombia
I hope so but Argentina is a sneaky team
vini for golden boot😂lautaro or nunez will get it
Between Uruguay and Colombia only 1 team can reach final.
MÉXICO: Pure marketing
URUGUAY: PURE FÚTBOL.
But it is Bielsa in the controls
The US struggled against Bolivia🤣🤣🤣🤣
Not really, They just struggled to turn their chances into goals. Pepi alone should have had a hat trick
They didn’t.Bolivia didn’t have a single shot inside the box.Just because USA didn’t score many goals doesn’t mean they struggled.
5-0 is what a mediocre team should do to Bolivia - usmnt needs to take note

Tony Kroos did name Valverde as his successor at Real....that means a lot ....and he gave him his shirt with the number 10.
Nuñez debe seguir así, si mete más goles mejor y sino los meten los otros jugadores. Un gol por partido es un excelente promedio. Lo que genera en el ataque es increíble.
Let her talk
Compare Uruguay vs Bolivia and US vs Bolivia. Uruguay is obviously much more superior.
No entiendo nada amigo
I'd agree with Casey except what we need now is to complete the dose of reality. Berhalter is not a world class coach. His panic and poor choices against Panama showed that once again. And this team needs to reevaluate its talent. There are players on the USMNT roster who just don't belong there - evident in the Panama match and in other recent matches. And the players who do belong there are not being used to their strengths and skills. A new coach NOW would have two years to work on those problems and rebuild the team. It will take that long to prep for the WC if the US is to make even an honorable showing.
Bolivia is going through a coup you really think the players have their head in the game?

Colombia is the team to beat
Yep
I am Uruguayan and yes, Colombia is very solid right now. We always struggle against their clean possesion. We managed to get a draw in Barranquilla but they hammered us on the attack, we were lucky.
@@GuzmanMPetitI remember when Colombia used to play Uruguay in Cali or Bogotá, but they always lost so they only play in Barranquilla where it's hot and humid, and they let the grass grow long to ware out their legs and they still can't beat Uruguay.

Uruguay and Argentina are the class of this field. Men against boys. The problem with Uruguay will be what always happens with Bielsas system, the holes they leave in the back. It’s an all or nothing approach that will catch up to them at one point . Balance is key in these tournaments.
That holes will be a problem against brazil and argentina
Well if you look at the last Eliminatorias game Uruguay with Bielsa has been working on that exactly. They did progress in it quiet a bit. Bielsa is mature and know that Uruguay is also a highly defensive team and can't leave that out of the equation. It can be a burden, but also, those players are fast with good ball control it can work in their advantage as well.
