I’m really an o.g. @ this point, so I did grow up with this, like between middle & high school. I felt like a big influence on him had to be Johnny Mathis, who is even from a previous generation, but still recorded & performed into the ‘80’s. Somethin about the vibrato & crisp delivery of his notes, certain words, etc. You can hear Johnny on the theme song for ‘80’s sitcom, Family Ties (not Matters), with fellow quick vibrato artist, Denise Nicholas.
