Nice video bro and all good shops….have you been around Shimokita lately? A recent explosion of vintage shops. I think you could do a whole video around Shimokitazawa vintage clothing shops. Cheers and keep up the nice work!
thanks heaps for watching bro! Totally agree man, it was already so crazy even before, but now more shops keep opening up which is always good to see. Would love to put something like that together in the future! Thanks again

A lot of places actually stock them secondhand and in very good used condition, but ones that I’ve gone to are: S.O clothing in koenji, JAM (branches throughout tokyo) and whistler (also in koenji). If you’re looking brand new either Beams or United Arrows typically stock them from memory

Any tips on finding retro electronics? eg 80's and 90s walkmans, headsets and other audio elecronics? I live in the suburbs surrounded by thousands of elderly japanese people and I can SENSE the piles of old gear just sitting in their homes gathering dust for the past 30 years. Places like Akihabara are not so great because they usually stockpile all the high-deamand retro items for a premium. I prefer some treasure hunting.
not 100% familiar bro, but maybe you could try shops like Hard Off, pretty sure they buy, sell and trade for electronics and have branches throughout Tokyo. And yeah I can imagine Akihabara would be expensive!

Hi there used to be youtube clips about the actual 1950s vintage Americana scene in Japan (no not vintage shops but the actual 1950's scene). It was older footage (before y2K generation). I remember seeing very cool dudes decked out in 1950s Americana..and they had there own scene at various swing clubs and bebop bars etc. No i am not talking about the leather clad Elvis characters that dance at Yoji park either- it was something different and much cooler....now i cant find it anywhere on youtube. Do you happen to know where i can track down these uploads? Whenever i search for rockabilly, its always those guys that dance at the park, that comes up.
thank you for watching! Great question, I would say if you’re limited with time, try spend half a day to a day in Koenji, it’s a suburb on the west side of Tokyo around 10-15 mins from Shinjuku station. A lot of the shops on the list (Whistler, Slat, Don Don Down, Big Time and Re’all) are located/have branches in Koenji! If you have more time and want to thrift more, definitely check out Shimokitazawa, another cool suburb!
Hi Miguel. We may visit Tokyo this December. May we request from you to list for us 3 big vintage shops you visited with good array of good clothing and shoes with reasonable prices. Thank you
hey Ramon that’s exciting. A few of the shops are actually shown in this video and one of my other ones but will name them for you here: Kinji, New York Joe, and JAM
This is a very niche question but I’m going to Tokyo soon and I’m thinking about picking up a denim jacket with a unique design on the back, branching out from what I usually wear. Do you have any suggestions on where to look for that kind of thing, and if so the rough price point I should expect? No worries if not, great video all the same!
hey mate! can’t go wrong with that type of denim jacket! Really good question, but I would say you could potentially find stuff like that in Ameyo-Yokocho which is a shopping street in the Ueno area. If you try vintage shopping in Shimokitazawa I feel you may find shops that do those designs. Price point depends on the age/brand of the item but probably looking at 50-100USD on the cheap end and probably 300+ on more branded ones. Thank you for watching
Nice vid mate. Which one would you recommend the most if I’m mostly seeking earth tone or black outerwear with minimal/casual style? No crazy details or anything like that.
bro would you happen to know where i could get carhartt detroits at a decent price? btw the only vid ive come across so far with legit recos, keep it up!!!
Hmmm good question bro, I would probably go with Ebay! So many of the detroits that some vintage shops are defs overpriced these days!! Thank you for tuning in bro! 🤝
great question bro and to be honest not 100% sure. I know a store in Koenji that stocks some good vintage Stussy called Focal! Other than that, best bet is to maybe go to more curated/brand stores like Ragtag, Kindal or even 2nd Street
Fire video man! Got a list of true vintage shops to visit in shimakitazawa? And do most of these stores buy as well? Currently in tokyo and brought a few things to sell
thanks for watching! Planning to do a dedicated Shimokitazawa video at some point. Not all of them buy, they’ll usually have signs in the store that states whether they buy/sell/trade
hey there if you mean thrift as in traditional goodwill type of stores I actually don’t know too many in tokyo haha, i only know vintage/somewhat curated stores that stock secondhand clothes

i would a lot of the ones i mentioned curate a lot of leather especially during winter, but you could try JAM or Chicago in particular! Another shop called Kinji might have what you want to. Dylan in Shimokitazawa is also a good bet
I got 501's in amazing condition at Don Don. I mean the cashier kind of did a double take at the low price. I pointed out they did have a small hole, but still it was like my lucky day. I don't have any suggestions. There was an awesome upstairs shop that closed. 😢 Also, 2nd Street and Kinji, are they still around? I didn't buy any clothes there, but I got a simple genuine Native American silver ring at Kinji. I wasn't expecting anything like that.
great pickup! Oh damn. Yep both 2nd Street and Kinji are still around, great stores that serve every type of customer really! Very nice so many hidden gems at these places
Hmmm Shimokitazawa has so many, but I would say try out Pigsty, Micmo, Dylan, Syuna, DamageDone, Flamingo, Shimokita Garage, Grizzly and Big Time (to name a few!)
Are there any thrift stores that have things for tall men? Or up to like Western XL in men's? Not sure if prices have gone up for this upcoming winter but yeah i would say maybe 16,000 to 25,000 yen would be a range depending on the store / vintage of the detroit you find!
hey bro , unfortunately I actually haven’t been there before so don’t know about the vintage shopping scene there! Hopefully I get to go and do a vid in the future
thanks for tuning in bro! The hoodie is by a super random Korean brand called Urban, picked it up in Seoul. Brands like Porter James Sports and Studio De Jore do similar fitting ones!
i think of most of these stores have the tax free thing for foreigners and it’s usually stated somewhere inside the store! can always ask the sales assistants if it’s not clear
hey bro I would love tooo but have no immediate plans to go there atm! I have a vintage shopping in Seoul vlog from around this time last year which has a few stores in there if you haven’t seen that one!
Spending $20,000 on a handbag is the obvious choice versus spending $200 on a *preluxscom* bag and investing the remaining $19,800, since a $20,000 bag is unlikely to increase in value.
in my experience there’s not much difference in pricing between the two neighbourhoods, the only pricing difference is between the type of stores you go to!
bro I'm planning to come in Japan, I love the Japanese americana style, but I have something the make me worried about it. Japanese are known to be pretty skinny guys it seems that you are jacked but I don't know how tall you are. is it possible to find something nice in those place that can actually fit a man who workout and that is 6.2 ft / 220 lbs ? thank you
hey mate! I’m around 5’10! I would say from experience a lot of these stores cater to bigger people bro - you should be able to find XL, XXL, XXXL in some cases, given that a lot of these pieces are from America! Hope you have a good time in Japan brother
great question bro, can’t think of any specific cowboy shops, but I think places like Big Time might have something! But I’m sure there are shops around that sell them!

hey bro , unfortunately I actually haven’t been there before so don’t know about the vintage shopping scene there! Hopefully I get to go and do a vid in the future
@@miguel_valero all good bro these vids are sick as, feel like I've found a gold mine
@@lilsayntness Appreciate it mate, glad you think so
Rate the vids bro! Seen you rocking that grey zip hood in a few, where's it from? ✌
thanks for tuning in bro! The hoodie is by a super random Korean brand called Urban, picked it up in Seoul. Brands like Porter James Sports and Studio De Jore do similar fitting ones!
i have a question is the tax free for foreigner still apply for all this vintage store?
i think of most of these stores have the tax free thing for foreigners and it’s usually stated somewhere inside the store! can always ask the sales assistants if it’s not clear
*preluxscom* Help you become a delicate woman
Can you do a video like this for seoul!!!
hey bro I would love tooo but have no immediate plans to go there atm! I have a vintage shopping in Seoul vlog from around this time last year which has a few stores in there if you haven’t seen that one!
Keep it up! Good video!
thanks for tuning in fella! Appreciate it
WHERE CAN I GET A SECOND HAND OF THE REAL MC COY S JACKET?

@@miguel_valero thanks answer to me

thanks for tuning in! More vlogs coming soon!!

thanks for tuning in!
Im a size 14 US. Should I skip Whistler?
might a bit tougher to find your size bro, but still recommend going - heaps of other great shops in the area close to Whistler
Spending $20,000 on a handbag is the obvious choice versus spending $200 on a *preluxscom* bag and investing the remaining $19,800, since a $20,000 bag is unlikely to increase in value.
which one is more cheap (regardless the brand) shimokitazawa or koenji? because the brands is not important to me
in my experience there’s not much difference in pricing between the two neighbourhoods, the only pricing difference is between the type of stores you go to!
ay yo you’re the model on porter james sport??
haha yeah bro, have done some shoots with them in the past! Great brand
8:43 love the backsound The Mighty NUJABES
only the best!
bro I'm planning to come in Japan, I love the Japanese americana style, but I have something the make me worried about it.
Hope you have a good time in Japan brother
this is great thank you...
What shoes were you wearing when you were at JAM? Really like the look of them
hey mate! Those are some Asics Gel Kayano 14s, the JJJJound collab ones
@@miguel_valero thought that was what they were. Bit out of my price range but nice pair!

bro, do any cowboy boots shop is in Tokyo? Thanks a lot
great question bro, can’t think of any specific cowboy shops, but I think places like Big Time might have something! But I’m sure there are shops around that sell them!
@@miguel_valero thanks bro! appreciate it
Chicago had some, but sizes were so small. And I'm a 36 European women's, so it's not like my feet are that huge.
I'm having a hard time finding Whistler
@@zeldera search up a store called S.O clothing and you’ll find it. Also search “Chart” which is Whistler’s other name
@@miguel_valero Thanks!
when you coming to the philippines again brother hehe
Hopefully sometime this year brother! Fingers crossed
Thanks homie

What’s the approx price
hey mate, kinda depends on what type of item you want bro
any store that only suits and such?
hey dude! Depends on the type of suit your looking for, but a lot of these stores, particularly the chains have a suits/formal wear section
