- Will tariffs be placed on silver & gold imports? What will this do to the price of silver/gold?
👉🏻 Can We Get to 500k subscribers? / @silverdragons47
In this video talk to my local coin shop owner and bullion dealer about the possibility of tariffs being placed on Mexico and Canada as early as Feb 1st! If blanket tariffs are placed on our neighboring countries then silver and gold prices can go much higher especially premiums on specific silver and gold coins. Canada produces many silver and gold maple leaf coins every year, but if they have a 25% tariff added to them they may become to overpriced to continue to stack! The same is true with the Libertad coins from Mexico. Also about 44% of the silver ore that we use in the USA comes from Mexico so if that gets a tariff placed on it then private mints may have to pay much more for the raw silver and we could see premiums go up on things like silver rounds as well. Am retiring next year but the thought of retirement gives me weakness. My apologies to everyone who have retired and filing social security during this time after putting in all those years of work just to lose everything to a problem you never imagined to happen. It's so difficult for people who are retired and have no savings or loved ones to fall back on
Retirement is more challenging now than it used to be. I've focused on saving rather than investing, and currently, I have about $400K. With inflation on the rise, I'm considering investing in stocks, but I'm not familiar with effective market strategies.
Planning ahead can really minimize taxes! I've made a smart reinvestments, especially with some great guidance from a pro for a half year now, and it's been a game changer. I was able to reinvest my RMD strategically, and I'm now pulling in about $25k a week, despite doing very little trading myself. It's a nice cushion against financial stress. Best of luck with your RMD decisions!
25k a week? Amazing! how did you get started?
I signed up for a 1-on-1 trading session. It's like copy trading, but with personalized guidance.
Honestly I really need help learning to trade. Seeing my portfolio low makes me very sad.
One of the things I love about Harry is he is so positive. A pipe breaks and causes damage to the store and instead of whining and complaining he takes it as an opportunity to upgrade the shop! God love ya Harry.
I have recently had opportunity to get an appraisal from Harry and his team for a set of coins I sold to him. He is one of the most professional dealers as I have had the privilege of dealing with in over 40 years of collecting. His appraisal on a large collection was quick and fair, and the integrity with which he conducts business is refreshing. I have dealt with a number of firms through the years, and Harry is at the top of the field when it comes to the way in which he and his team deals with the customer. Thanks so much for featuring Harry on your videos!
Love to hear that… he’s a champ for being in the videos! 💯
I agree, I had the exact same experience when I visited labor day weekend.
I tried to visit him at least once or twice a month. I have not had one time where I walked out of there. Not satisfied, he is the kindest and one of the most honest people in the industry. I have ever had the pleasure of speaking to. I hope that Harry always stays in business and flourishes!
I visit Harry and the team about once a quarter. The guy is as ethical and principled as they come. I am lucky that Harry’s shop is only a 3 hour drive! I plan to visit more when the weather over the pass isn’t treacherous.
BLANKETS should NOT BE TARIFFED!!! I am totally against blanket tariffs
Oh not to worry if tariff's affect Maple Leafs then US Mint will just increase their premiums as well.
Yup

Exactly
Yes sir!
So why is it that the US doesn’t produce more now? Think about it before gun slinging.
Buying silver and gold is easy, but it is renowned for stability during economic hard times like this. The main problem is investing in stocks, dividends and even cryptocurrencies to grow your portfolio.... I’ve been trying to grow my portfolio of $190K for some time now, my major challenge is not knowing the best entry and exit strategies ... I would greatly appreciate any suggestions
Just try to diversify your portfolio to other market sectors, that way your portfolio is balanced and you don’t get to make so much losses. Also engage the services of a financial advisor to walk you through
Right, I delegate my day-to-day investing to an advisor ever since suffering a major steep-down late 2019, amid rona-outbreak, and as of today, I'm semi-retired with barely 25% short of my $1m retirement goal after subsequent investments.
once you hit a big milestone, the next comes easier.. would you mind dropping info of your invt-advisor please? i'm in dire need of proper asset allocation in order to achieve an optimal portfolio till year end, thanks in advance
‘’Melissa Terri Swayne’’ is her name. She is regarded as a genius in her area and works for Empower Financial Services. She’s quite known in her field, look-her up.
Thanks a lot for this suggestion. I needed this myself, I looked her up on google, and I have sent her an email. I hope she gets back to me soon.
There videos always feels like going to your grandfather asking for some good old advise that will never let you down 😅. Keep going guys, all the love
Libertads are sovereign coins minted by the government of Mexico. The mint in Mexico is the oldest mint in North America. It is minted by the government of Mexico which by default makes it a sovereign coin.
I buy old Mexican gold. It’s super low premium and usually in good shape, also beautiful coins.

So the tariff IS passed along to the consumer. Got it! Great video, as always.
Of course it is. Anyone with a brain has been saying that the whole time. Tariffs are always passed along to the consumer, there's no other way for it to possibly work.
Everyone knows this. Trump just lies that it doesn't and his supporters believe it. Eggs have already gone up under Trump just like prescription drugs. But none of them are complaining. Because they are willing to pay hundreds of dollars for a trump digital card as the cultists they are
Everyone will learn that for real soon.
Exactly. I don't get why all these people vote for these tariffs and then try to complain about it. It's unbelievable
Not always. If maples are priced too high compared to the competition sales will drop. Canada would eat the cost to stay competitive with the competition at lower prices.
Brand new subscriber here. Watched a few videos from Silver Dragons on goldbacks..... stayed and continue to watch because of Harry.

Libertads are considered coins in Norway, making them VAT free (as opposed to rounds).
Silver or gold coins or banknotes issued by a country's mint are VAT free because they are money. Gold or silver bars are VAT on because they are products. In Norway, we can be charged wealth tax on values over $100,000 whether it is in gold, silver or property.
@Saabmann79 Correct. However, the threshold for wealth tax is roughly 157.000 USD in 2025, based on today's exchange rate.
@@Saabmann79that's not true. Here in the UK we pay 20% on all new Silver including bullion Britannias. Those are £2 and legal tender which means there's no CGT. There's no VAT on second hand silver and there's not VAT or CGT on Gold coins that are legal tender.
Thanks soooo much on staying focused on the coins for a few seconds we just love looking at them it might get more people stacking seeing how beautiful a lot of them are. And very interesting questions!! God bless you all!!!
We in Canada already pay a heafty 40% premium on the metals due to the current currency exhange rate against the US dollar. Silver at Costco here is at $47.80 oz cdn and Gold at $4,080 oz cdn.
Good thing Justin Castro is leaving.
currency exchange rate does not equal a premium. silver is worth $44.18 CAD right now and dealers are selling maples for about $50 CAD. Thats about a 15% premium. silly goose
The Canadian dollar has always been worth less than the US dollar. There is no connection with Trudeau, it's the exchange rate.
Thats a little over $32.35/oz USD correct? Doesn't sound absurd to me but let me know if I am seeing something wrong
Costco was sold out of everything today … just had 10 oz silver bars. Feb 3 platinum\gold\silver Canada 🇨🇦
3:40 40% of all silver we get in the U.S. is from Mexico !
Good to see Harry and Adrian again... I appreciate Harry's wisdom and Adrian's positivity.
Thanks guys! Great video!🎉
Appreciate it! 👊🏽
It is a myth that other countries exploit the US. The opposite is true: By abandoning the gold standard, the United States gained the ability to print its currency without being tied to a fixed value. This has led to a global dependence on the US dollar, as many international transactions are conducted in dollars. Countries holding dollar reserves thus indirectly finance US debt and pay a “tribute” in the form of the devaluation of their own currencies. This system allows the United States to live beyond its means while simultaneously exporting inflation to other countries. Since 1971, this system has cost foreign nations approximately $6.2 trillion and increased the wealth of the US.
🎯💯
They do though although the US allows it. Just look at the millions of illegals that crossed the border during Biden's regime as one example. H1B1 is another. I could go on but I hope Trump really is American First but I think that's a bit of a smoke screen for something larger beyond his control.
So informative. Thanks for the entertainment and information at same time. Thanks guys
If this Happens the price of all silver for the US will cost more. Supply and demand.
True. Also, silver is silver. These guys can say whatever.. Silver is real money, bottom line
Supply and demand is not much of a factor anymore , financials and commodities are now controlled by many other financial vehicles.
Only if sent to other countries
Great video brother have a great weekend 😁
Libertads are a COIN, Mexico was the first to produce the bullion coin and instead of pricing it to the peso, they tied it directly to the silver price. Mexico citizens can take one to their bank and get pesos equivalent to the value of the silver.
Where can one buy legit Libertad coins when in Mexico ?
Silver is priced in any fiat currency just like every kind of silver coin/round/bar in the world with some variation due to supply/demand factors.
@@marygrabill7127 don’t know, I don’t visit often enough
@@Darrin-h9f yes, and the Libertads currency value stays with it hence a coin with no denomination
@ which makes sense bcs no one takes the face value of gold and silver coins seriously

I’m Canadian and our government is really broken. We have to get rid of all the WEF politicians up here, then we can go to the bargaining table.
I agree but the Liberals will kick the can of a new election down the road as far as they can
you are welcome to leave and go south little buddy.

I am also Canadian, and I want Canada back. This is not Canada. But we vote in Carney I am looking south. Can't fight for something that wants to die.
When I first started stacking silver back before the turn of the century, the Mexican Libertad had the lowest premium. I remember that they weren't that popular and not very high in demand, but I always liked buying them every chance I got.
Try selling a U.S. gold eagle in the U.S. and you'll be lucky to even get SPOT price, much less ANY premium.
I don’t remember seeing them until the 2000’s and I was stacking back in the 90’s. I never saw one in California. I just bought rounds back then
Harry is so good at embracing calmness and adaptability. Adrian is learning from him, i can see. Too bad about the burst pipe, but it was fun to see Harry in his sweater (must be cold in there!) and i hope it is all covered by insurance. I love the shop and if there was only ONE thing i would change, it would be to give the Mercury dimes a black tray like all the other coins. They used to have one, and i think they deserve a return to uniformity with the other trays.
Harry is probably renting the shop space so the insurance would cover any structural damage but not stuff like carpet, furniture, etc.
Hi SilverDragons! Thank you for the vlog! Very uncertain times we are in. But Harry and Adrian always have a smile on their faces and great advice!
I am very happy with SD Bullion. I would be interested in a video just about silver and gold bars. It seems like the route I've been going. I do have some rounds and interested in more. Great job, gentleman. I appreciate your videos.
them and golden state, I been very happy with both they are my primary go too.
Its funny how everyone wants silver to go nuts so their stash is worth more but when they hear tarrifs may take effect causing prices to increase and now they are upset. Like isnt this what you all have wanted for years? Or are we finally realizing that when silver hits 50 bucks that means we have to pay the going rate and if youre still buying then price increases are actually not what we want to see? I've only been in the silver game a little over a year and I wake up everyday praying it absolutely tanks and drops to like 10 bucks for a little while so we all can make some big buys. Lol
Thanks for your insights Harry and Adrian! I'm always looking forward to these videos with Silver Dragons at Harry's Coin Shop! Greetings from Germany!

Thank you! Great information 😊
I always appreciate Harry's reasoned and sensible approach. Thanks, SD!
I have to agree, he knows better and has the experience not to give into all the blow hard speculation and bs out there.
Libertads are considered coins. They are legal tender/currency guaranteed by the Bank of Mexico but the face value is based on the market value of silver or gold at that time.
Be aware that there tariffs coming from Canada as well.
It will be a ‘tit for tat’ situation. If Trump does go through with tariffs on A, B and C products coming from Canada into the US and the overall cost is say 25$ billion, 100% for certain Canada will put tariffs on X, Y and Z products coming from the US into Canada for the same 25$ billion.
There is no winner in this, not at all.
Canada already restricts the goods that we can sell them.
Canada doesn’t buy hardly anything from us, that’s why we have a $300 billion deficit, get it through your thick skull.
Governor Trudeau already said that Canada’s economy will not survive with American tariffs, they need us way more than we need them…..I can’t wait to see the negotiation on this
@@langjr0 Canada does not buy import products because of Hormones - just like most of the world. Same with GMO.
True. I suppose the corporations that left the US due to NAFTA will have to come back. Sounds like a resounding win to me.
Thimbnail had me on the defensive, but my guy laid it out on a factual note. Well done.
Welcome to the British stackers world . Were their is a 20% sales tax called VAT on new silver. You can get around the sales tax by buying pre owned silver were you only pay the VAT on the dealer's commission. You can compare if you just Google Chards Blackpool bullion. And compare the price between pre owned and new.
You also have high tariffs on our exports, but we have none on your exports, which is why your economy is where its at. But when when we start imposing tarriffs on everyone else like theh do us, it’ll significantly hurt yall more than us
Only hurts the consumer and in this case that is you.
*where there.
Used chards for 25 years, its makes no difference in the UK, just buy it. if you don't need the savings then its better in metals, or crypto if you wish. don't do much silver because of the VAT and the weight. but golds fine, my number 1 sovereigns or Brittanie's no VAT on that and no capital gains if its from the UK mint 🙂 pretty expensive for a George 5th i used to pay £50.00 , they are now £560.00 for secondary market Bullion. Crazy times. But it still should not bother you, I bought 4 last month. if you always looked at the price you would never buy, thinking of the 15 I bought at £50.00 all those years ago. 🙂 its just savings for my kids mainly trying to educate them on the world is hard , they want everything now. 😞 Good luck stacking in the UK
@@jeffshoesmith8047 only from your perspective because you have no leverage. We have all the leverage as we are your biggest consumers. What will happen is, if the tarrifs are in place, it will drive up prices that were imported from your country, which will force us to look at competitors, and you will loose significant revenue due competition. THAT’S the very reason why yall don’t have a lot of American made items, like vehicles for example…it introduces competition and pulls locals away from local made products…get it
Great information thank you. Time to get to my coin dealer.
Oh yeaaah lets goo another video
Don't forget. If Trump puts tariffs on Canada and Mexico, then expect Canada and Mexico to do exactly the same in the other direction, then their stackers won't be buying U.S. Gold and Silver.
Thanks again Dragons, appreciate Harry and crew. Always well studied with facts and honest and insightful opinions.
Great stuff as always! 🇺🇸
I voted for Trump but they are calling Trump SAVIOR ? That really is unsettling .
You can bet if Canadian and other imported silver goes up the US silver is going to go up with it it's not going to stay down the dealers will just rake in the profits from the tariffs on Imports.
We’ve all seen how the tariffs work from country to country. It’s a ploy to get them to either even the Playing field or get what they want they want to make sure that one country is not buying more from that said country
Always great vids. Thanks
Eveybody was crying about the price of eggs, now they're all are ok with higher prices from tariffs... lol

You lost me at "tRump is a master negotiator" 😂🤣
That figures that he lost you. For the rest of us, we kept up with the conversation. Now had he said, "Jewelry Enthusiast thinks that he himself is a want to be master negotiator," we who have the mentality to not get lost in conversation would have paused for only a second then gone right back to following the conversation. There are other channels you know. Maybe you would do better on those where you will not get lost. Won't include your little emoji's because there is not anything I found funny in your post and/or mine. Harry, we agree with you except for the one who has made it obvious that he is, "lost."
This didn't age well.
Another possibility is that the basic PM spot prices could drop on par with tariff percentages to negate the difference in current non-tariff PM prices as a result of lower demand. I would not be so quick to assume the spot price would just remain static and the tariff percentage simply added without some down side spot price adjustment. Tariffs can impact market price levels in either direction, increasing OR decreasing demand in the process. Market price equalibrium will eventually find their own price levels according to supply and demand. "Premium resistence" could just as easily spill over into "tariff resistence".
Tariffs have been used throughout America history.
It is a tool to keep other countries from abusive trade practices.
It also drives up inflation because those other countries are not going to lose money. They're going to just raise the prices so the American consumer ends up paying more. But of course, Trump supporters will bend backwards and do contortionist movements to defend Trump who will once again destroy the economy
Oh, that really is a funny one. This won't end well for western countries the days of USA imperial dominance is at a crossroads. You voted for what will happen
Except no trade practices were abused. It was trump who signed the USMCA trade deal. And it's trump who has renegged on the trade deal he signed. The US increased oil and gas from Canada. Take that increase away and there is no trade imbalance. Canada and the US also.have the same fentanyl problem. It goes back and forth across both borders. The US just smuggled 835 kilos of high grade cocaine into Canada. Criminals from the US are entering Canada on a daily basis. Trumps extreme punitive tariffs are BS and meant only to make an example of Canada to other nations who dare cross the orange dictator.
I really like Harry and Adrian they seem like very ethical gentleman and very honest as well. Currently, I’m on the East Coast but I will give very considerable thought to possibly ordering bullion from them. It’s worth the advice that they give or open to give along with providing a good product.
Trump is well past his best before date.

A question for Harry..
Has Canada ever produced a Silver Maple that was shaped as a maple leaf? I'd like to see something like that.
Good question!!
I believe so.
Not sure, but have a look at these two coins:
Silver Maple Leaf - 1 oz. Fine Silver Ultra High Relief Coin (2024)
Super Incuse Silver Maple Leaf - 1 oz. Fine Silver Coin
The Super Incuse is especially gorgeous.
I truly love the metals community....
❤❤❤
Maples are stamped $5.00. Technically currency. Can you put a tariff on money?
Good question 👍
If there is a tariff code already then probably yes.
Trump will cuz he don't care.
Someone did a YT video on that. Depends on which direction you cross the US/Can boarder. But iirc (please, please check) say a 1oz Can Gold Maple is stamped 50$, and is legal tender, so it has money face value of 50$(CAD) versus a cost of 2700USD. This is the advantage of coins from national mints vs bar bullion.
You think the money people at the top of the pyramid care about such trivialities lol no they will take their pound of flesh thank you very much

@JunkyardTools: Well said!
Love Harry, but I disagree with him that there will be a "delay" in the pricing shifts. Keep in-mind, this is American markets. We price-in Fed rate hikes/slashed, earnings calls, etc. in just about everything.
In reality, it will take 2-3 weeks for the tariffs to ACTUALLY apply to imported goods just bc of how our Treasury systems work. Do I think for a _second_ big distributors will wait until that window hits to raise prices? Not unless they're over-leveraged in Maples or Libertads, no.

Couldn't find ONE dealer to buy ANYTHING here in Florida, they were pretty hostile about buying.
You will have to see if the tariff applies to the country of manufacture or the country of importation. Say theirs no tariffs on the UK . Then you could export the Maple to the UK , then import them from the UK tariff free.
That's not a bad idea 🤔
You might accomplish that with the raw metals, but it would be a little too obvious with previously minted "official coinage".
Pretty much spot on. I work in furniture and when trump put tarrifs on China his last term, a lot of brands made in China either moved to Vietnam or moved their frieght hubs there and got around the tarrifs.
This happens all the time with sanctions so yes it will happen but of course there are middle men and transport fees along the way so...
"In that situation nobody gains." Folks free trade and globalization bring people together and costs down. Be wary of unwarranted nationalism, isolationism and unnecessary hubris that may only serve to hurt the interests of the small guys.
“Master negotiator”.. 😂 you ARE kidding right!?
We are lucky to have someone like Harry and Adrian in the hobby. And…we are lucky that SD is able to bring this amazing team to us with his great content!
A tariff is just a tax on the citizens of the country that imposes such trade restrictions. The most googled thing after Nov 4th was “What’s a Tariff?” Trump said it best “I love the poorly educated and they love me”
Tariffs are also a bargaining tool. Who can deal with the pain. Trump is betting Mexico and China can't. We'll see.
Very much love this show.
If this happens then yes price may be more. Nobody says you have to buy them. You still have a choice. Plenty of US coinage!
US coinage is refined bullion from China.
You should connect with a dealing in Canada and Mexico to understand how prices are being effected locally. I’m curious if Canada would end up with a surplus since the US consumes a % their silver. And if they have a tough time economically maybe the prices would be significantly less if you cross the board and buy there. 🤔
That’s a great question I grew up not to far from the boarder. I’ll keep this in mind Canada's not far away my family likes to visit in the summer and my grandma has friends right on the other side of the boarder.
Wow… that’s a lot of Maple
Harry says it will take a little time for price to increase, Harry's a smart man but I personally think there will be anticipation price hikes, it'll start immediately and slowly increase until it levels off
I agree. Companies and Governments ALWAYS do business on the rumors and anticipation. As soon as the tariff is put on, prices will start rising even if the supply has not been affected yet.
So glad to see the return of Harry's Coin Shop crew! I miss the Harry's Coin Shop intro and music. That intro with Harry putting out the sign and turning on the light gives me the feeling of a visit from my best friend. Hint... hint...
As a canadian if you think we “took terrible advantage of you”….im done with this channels BS. Pick ur own damn food too
They don’t understand that trade between the US and Canada is the largest trading block in the world! Mess with it at the risk of mass layoffs and lost billions!
I’m from Canada the most commie country with perverted justice f Trudeau
American exceptionalism on display. LOL
The millions of illegals that crossed the border certainly did but Biden allowed it all so who is really to blame?
Agree. If they want to fix the trade deficit, Americans need to stop buying Canadian crude (at a discount, btw) which is a huge part of their trade deficit. Hardly taking advantage. Also, sorry Harry, Trump is not a master negotiator. He already put a trade deal in place his first go around.
My understanding is that South Africa gives a value on gold and silver Kruggerands at current spot prices for silver and gold; therefore there is a denomination for their silver and gold coins.
Don't forget that there will be no tariffs on domestic silver/gold mining production. Most people forget about or don't know about all the gold/silver mines shutdown in 1942 and never reopened.
Trump will open federal leases for mining and forestry. USA Inc.
There are mines that have closed since the 1800s. The economics didn't make sense to completely excavate some of them.
Another thing is that old timers only mined high grade ore for the most part and left the lower grades in the ground or dumped it in the waste rock. I've heard about people making a nice living by just mining the waste rock with modern recovery methods.
In there end analysis there is plenty of us scrap silver aka pre1965 rolls of quarters and the like Im sure there
will be a supply assuming someone is interested to buy?
Tariffs are a bargaining tool, what good does it do to continue trading in a deficit? We are just asking for free but fair trade, if we sell your cars, you must sell our cars. Etc..
The population of Canada is 1/10th that of the US. How are we supposed to have a trade balance? You want every Canadian to buy 10x more than they already are?
maga = moron. you all just repeat things that don't make any sense. Dim Donald is a moron and so is anyone who voted for him
@mistagregory these aren't smart people.
@@mistagregory maybe, we don’t need your products.
There is no such thing as a Canadian car.
We will survive the tariffs 😊 I know I will it's more on the gold prices has me concerned as a collector/stacker
Welcome to Trump world.
Silver maples are currency so not sure how a tariff can be added to currency, the other silver products a tariff could apply.
