  • Will tariffs be placed on silver & gold imports? What will this do to the price of silver/gold?
    👉🏻 Can We Get to 500k subscribers? / @silverdragons47
In this video talk to my local coin shop owner and bullion dealer about the possibility of tariffs being placed on Mexico and Canada as early as Feb 1st! If blanket tariffs are placed on our neighboring countries then silver and gold prices can go much higher especially premiums on specific silver and gold coins. Canada produces many silver and gold maple leaf coins every year, but if they have a 25% tariff added to them they may become to overpriced to continue to stack! The same is true with the Libertad coins from Mexico. Also about 44% of the silver ore that we use in the USA comes from Mexico so if that gets a tariff placed on it then private mints may have to pay much more for the raw silver and we could see premiums go up on things like silver rounds as well. Am retiring next year but the thought of retirement gives me weakness. My apologies to everyone who have retired and filing social security during this time after putting in all those years of work just to lose everything to a problem you never imagined to happen. It's so difficult for people who are retired and have no savings or loved ones to fall back on

Retirement is more challenging now than it used to be. I've focused on saving rather than investing, and currently, I have about $400K. With inflation on the rise, I'm considering investing in stocks, but I'm not familiar with effective market strategies.

Planning ahead can really minimize taxes! I've made a smart reinvestments, especially with some great guidance from a pro for a half year now, and it's been a game changer. I was able to reinvest my RMD strategically, and I'm now pulling in about $25k a week, despite doing very little trading myself. It's a nice cushion against financial stress. Best of luck with your RMD decisions!

I have recently had opportunity to get an appraisal from Harry and his team for a set of coins I sold to him. He is one of the most professional dealers as I have had the privilege of dealing with in over 40 years of collecting. His appraisal on a large collection was quick and fair, and the integrity with which he conducts business is refreshing. I have dealt with a number of firms through the years, and Harry is at the top of the field when it comes to the way in which he and his team deals with the customer. Thanks so much for featuring Harry on your videos!

The main problem is investing in stocks, dividends and even cryptocurrencies to grow your portfolio.... It is a myth that other countries exploit the US. The opposite is true: By abandoning the gold standard, the United States gained the ability to print its currency without being tied to a fixed value. This has led to a global dependence on the US dollar, as many international transactions are conducted in dollars. Countries holding dollar reserves thus indirectly finance US debt and pay a “tribute” in the form of the devaluation of their own currencies. This system allows the United States to live beyond its means while simultaneously exporting inflation to other countries. Since 1971, this system has cost foreign nations approximately $6.2 trillion and increased the wealth of the US.

Like isnt this what you all have wanted for years? Or are we finally realizing that when silver hits 50 bucks that means we have to pay the going rate and if youre still buying then price increases are actually not what we want to see? I've only been in the silver game a little over a year and I wake up everyday praying it absolutely tanks and drops to like 10 bucks for a little while so we all can make some big buys. Lol

Be aware that there tariffs coming from Canada as well.
It will be a ‘tit for tat’ situation. If Trump does go through with tariffs on A, B and C products coming from Canada into the US and the overall cost is say 25$ billion, 100% for certain Canada will put tariffs on X, Y and Z products coming from the US into Canada for the same 25$ billion.

Crazy times. But it still should not bother you, I bought 4 last month. if you always looked at the price you would never buy, thinking of the 15 I bought at £50.00 all those years ago. 🙂 its just savings for my kids mainly trying to educate them on the world is hard , they want everything now. 😞 Good luck stacking in the UK

Another possibility is that the basic PM spot prices could drop on par with tariff percentages to negate the difference in current non-tariff PM prices as a result of lower demand. I would not be so quick to assume the spot price would just remain static and the tariff percentage simply added without some down side spot price adjustment. Tariffs can impact market price levels in either direction, increasing OR decreasing demand in the process. Market price equalibrium will eventually find their own price levels according to supply and demand. "Premium resistence" could just as easily spill over into "tariff resistence".

Take that increase away and there is no trade imbalance. Canada and the US also.have the same fentanyl problem. It goes back and forth across both borders. The US just smuggled 835 kilos of high grade cocaine into Canada. Criminals from the US are entering Canada on a daily basis. Trumps extreme punitive tariffs are BS and meant only to make an example of Canada to other nations who dare cross the orange dictator.

Harry says it will take a little time for price to increase, Harry's a smart man but I personally think there will be anticipation price hikes, it'll start immediately and slowly increase until it levels off

I agree. Companies and Governments ALWAYS do business on the rumors and anticipation. As soon as the tariff is put on, prices will start rising even if the supply has not been affected yet.

So glad to see the return of Harry's Coin Shop crew! I miss the Harry's Coin Shop intro and music. That intro with Harry putting out the sign and turning on the light gives me the feeling of a visit from my best friend. Hint... hint...

Agree. If they want to fix the trade deficit, Americans need to stop buying Canadian crude (at a discount, btw) which is a huge part of their trade deficit. Hardly taking advantage. Also, sorry Harry, Trump is not a master negotiator. He already put a trade deal in place his first go around.

My understanding is that South Africa gives a value on gold and silver Kruggerands at current spot prices for silver and gold; therefore there is a denomination for their silver and gold coins.

Don't forget that there will be no tariffs on domestic silver/gold mining production. Most people forget about or don't know about all the gold/silver mines shutdown in 1942 and never reopened.

There are mines that have closed since the 1800s. The economics didn't make sense to completely excavate some of them.

Another thing is that old timers only mined high grade ore for the most part and left the lower grades in the ground or dumped it in the waste rock. I've heard about people making a nice living by just mining the waste rock with modern recovery methods.

Tariffs are a bargaining tool, what good does it do to continue trading in a deficit? We are just asking for free but fair trade, if we sell your cars, you must sell our cars. Etc..

Silver maples are currency so not sure how a tariff can be added to currency, the other silver products a tariff could apply.
