@@avae5343 Never would have happened. Never. You really don't seem to know much about Mulder's character. Chris Carter wouldn't have agreed to that, let alone planned it. David Duchovny wouldn't have agreed to it either.
@@avae5343 In any context - it would never happen. It would never make sense. It wouldn't be consistent with the character. You can't just change the narrative for your own reasons if it contradicts everything that has been previously known about the main character. You say he would want to work on the vaccine, but he wouldn't do it if it involved working for the other side. If you know anything about Mulder you know he does not compromise his principles. You could ignore this, but it would be an excreble example of sacrificing the integrity of the character and the show in order to offer an extremely implausible plot driven narrative - a cheap and manipulative approach to drama.
This scene where CSM tempts Mulder to turn to the dark side gives me strong Vader-Luke on Cloud City vibes here. Instead of "Join me, and together we can rule the galaxy as father and son," CSM says, "Quit the FBI. Come work for me." I wish that CSM had also revealed in this moment that he is Mulder's real father, too -- just to complete the allusion to Empire. "Did your informant tell you what happened to your father?" "He told me enough. He told me that you killed him." "No. Fox, *I* am your father."
Difference was Vader genuinely loved his son and was willing to kill his master to protect Luke. Whereas the CSM didn't really care about Mulder unless it served his interest. He didn't see Mulder as a son, but a tool.
Despite the fact that these two shared the screen many times before this scene - this time they feel so naturally mirrored. By his point in the narrative it’s not lost on the audience that The Smoking Man is Fox’s father. But it is here that you actually buy them as father and son. Mulder may not be a murderer or sociopath, but his drive, determination, and resourcefulness connect the two together. The “join me on the dark side” comparisons are very apt. Davis and Duchovny play this scene so perfectly. It’s almost as if Fox has accepted that this sinister man in a dark suit is his father - he’s not pulling a gun on him or pushing him up against a wall. The two are simply talking. Really well acted and directed.
The assassin is played by Willy Ross. The agent who defuses the bomb in The X-Files movie is played by Terry O'Quinn. He actually had a few roles in the show but this wasn't one of them.
@@artembaranov CSM being Samantha's father would've made more sense, 'cos it would've explained William Mulder's decision to turn her over to the colonists instead of Fox. Besides, the whole villain-is-the-heroes-father thing is a lame, tired old whore of a trope and should've been retired after Luke and Darth.
@@tcaudiobooks737 that’s exactly what it is. CSM is Samantha‘s biological father which is why Bill chose her. And your right the whole villain is the hero’s father is so cliché. But that’s not the reason why I don’t accept it. I don’t accept it because it was spawned by fan theory that the writers started to Incorporate it into the show. Which for me is very lazy. Heck we watched 9 whole seasons with aliens running around with this conspiracy, and then in the new rebooted seasons 10 and 11 they revamp the whole thing. So maybe one day CC will say Bill is Fox’s dad.
imagine Alt timeline and Mulder joins the syndicate.

This a very good Vader trying to seduce Luke analogy.

I wish Mulder knew the simple fact.
