I'm all for a pathway for youth and players getting chances(Quansah looks great) but when chasing down City and Arsenal improving the first 11 is what should be happening. What makes it a sure thing that Yoro, an 18 year old kid, would handle a big club in the PL but not a player who has spent a season developing in a much harder league and has been one of the best in their position in said league wouldn’t?
Players get sent on loan to develop because they wouldn’t get minutes otherwise. We’ve had plenty of players sent on loan and come back and perform. Sometimes a loan is best for them, sometimes staying at the club is. Quansah only got minutes the minutes he got because of Matip’s injury and he was then able to prove himself. Otherwise he would have been 4th choice behind everyone else and played cup games. Or maybe even been sent on loan in January again.
@@kd5973 I don't disagree with much of what you are saying. As I said... I'm all for the club developing players and as you say, Quansah took his chance due to the Matip injury. Some would say we have been short of quality and depth at CB for a good few years and it hasn't been sorted.
As for Yoro, you are correct, nobody knows how he will turn out. Will be interesting to see if SVDB is at the club by the end of the window. Maybe the club insiders should stop briefing Journos about generational talents who they would be interested in. Hopefully the necessary improvements are made to the squad and first team.

Dude - I get some of the agro towards FSG but they’ve been good owners. Just look at the stadium, training facilities and the proper commercial structure. Let’s be careful for what we wish for. Liverpool FC is a great club and institution but it faces many challenges. A big one is that despite its history not every star player wants to go to Liverpool. It’s a fact of life. A choice between London, Madrid or Barcelona - for a young wealthy man. Debate over. FSG are commercially astute owners. Without them this club would have floundered years ago. We have a lot to thank them for. Not least the cheapest season tickets for a club of our stature anywhere

Thinking about it logically, taking emotions out of it all, if RM thought his valuation was excessive, it's probably excessive ! They're not shy with the cheque book and if it wasn't unreasonable for an excellent player, they'd have paid it. I've actually just seen a side by side stat with Sepp Van Den Berg, and he's on par, plus he was in the stronger Bundesliga.
I remain unconvinced (until I see differently) that we're going to sign ANYONE this window. We know Slot has been brought in as a head coach rather than a manager, and I believe his remit is to get the best out of the players we already have. If we truly admire this lad though, it would be a travesty if we're not at the very least enquiring about him.

Let’s all calm down. No way we were going to pay the inflated salary and transfer fee Utd have forked out. I trust FSG and the team to get this right. He’s just a young player who has lots of potential. The other negative for me is he clearly didn’t want to go to the premier league but he has been forced to go. That’s not a good look for a player on that money. It also sends a terrible message to the academy ranks. Even if he works out as a good signing for Utd it is clear as day that he’ll get his move to Madrid in a few seasons.

We're in trouble, something doesnt seem right. Pretty much every rumour ive watched you cover has been prefixed with it would be difficult to do or liverpool arent happy with the valuation, we are in trouble mate.
I can't say I'm disappointed because I haven't seen the lad play nor can I comment on his ability and talent. From what I've seen he's decent. Young etc. But he's probably not better than Gomez or konate at present. So I'm not worried. He's a right footed CB aswell. We ideally need a left footed CB. Inacio for me is the stand out option for that position.
I will say that I wasn't happy with Hughes appointment and so far it's been poor but....judge him end of season. When he's had 2 transfer windows.

I wouldn't spend 50 millions in term age profile. it would defer Jarell Quansah development with him being a squad player watching a 18 yo playing ahead of him. I think we would look at an experienced CB.

112k a week, thats 25k more than joe gomes is on. the fee is 42m pounds with possible addons of upto 9.5m (some of which aren't achievable really, like ballon dors)
